a suggestion for people who are debating it, listen to the broadway album. it was recorded on the opening night of broadway and includes all the speaking bits between the songs.
I’ve seen Phantom of the Opera (3 times), Wicked (twice), Frozen, &Juliet, Six, Hamilton and Cursed Child (twice, though not technically a musical, there’s a few dance scenes which are really good plus it is a must for a Potter head in my opinion!). I personally loved the Phantom 2004 movie growing up so the musical was a MUST and it was so good to watch, I was mesmerized the entire time. You could try showing your kids the 2011 filmed stage version to see if it would capture their interest! &Juliet was absolutely incredible, just as good as Six especially in expressing the girl power but unfortunately they’ve finished their run in the West End earlier this year. Hamilton was also great but honestly the original on Disney+ is still my favourite. Frozen, for me, was just okay - I much prefer the movie as I didn’t find the stage version had much more to offer. I miss all the musicals in the West End - expensive but so worthwhile to see!
Six and Hamilton are two musicals I'd love to see live. My taste does tend to lean towards a lot of the older musicals but they're two new ones I do enjoy the soundtrack to. My chances of seeing them however are slim to none since Belfast tends to not get the new ones for a while (probably due to arts funding over here being miniscule) and I'd not be able to go to London etc on my own to see them as the person who would need to go with me dislikes both musicals and flying. I did however see "Les Ballets Trockadour de Monte Carlo" last October alongside a family friend and very much enjoyed it. The "Trocks" as they're known are a American comedy drag ballet troupe and their concept is as unique as it is hilarious. The girls would probably enjoy it and I'd say any "adult bits" would go over their heads since they seem to be more cheeky than mature. There seems to be a variation on what the age limits are for their shows venue to venue so if they ever toured to Wales you'd have to check with the actual venue, (one venue I saw said no under 10s, another said no under 5s, another said no under 3s etc) but there's lots of clips on youtube of their shows to aid parental judgement.
