I've got damage to my right Achilles from a motorcycle accident. I'm trying to get back into running. After running on pavement, I can barely walk the rest of the day. My oldest son wanted to run his first 5K last weekend and I wanted to run it with him. After watching several reviews of this shoe, I bought them the day before the race. My legs felt great through the whole race. I can't run nearly as fast as I used to 30 years ago so I can't say much about the speed of these shoes, but I at least got 3rd in my age group. I'm continuing to run in these shoes exclusively and am very happy I bought them. I hope they last 300 miles as you say!
I'm thinking of getting these shoes b/c I had a knee injury and just got back into running so I want to protect my knees. Glad to hear that it felt great with your race. I'm really considering them now
Thanks for the review! I've used your channel as a reference for a lot of stuff and I've finally decided to go with the More v4 or the New Balance SC Trainer now that you've enjoyed this one so much. If you think the foam will last a decent time (I'm 6'4" and ~200 pounds) For people wondering how comfy they are compared to other Max Cushion - Everyone kept saying things like how comfy the Hoka Bondi is or the More v3 etc. I tried them on and they don''t feel like much cushion at all, actually felt like bricks(I'm assuming the soften up a lot once they're worn in and that's where a lot of comfort comes from). So I ordered a dozen different "most comfortable" shoes and tried them on side by side on each foot. DAMN, the New Balance More v4, Rebel v2 and the Nike Invincible are instantly distinguishable from all the other shoes I tried. HUGE difference. The next closest one was the New Balance SC Trainer(but all of these felt really good, but just standing in it I could tell that the other 3 were softest). At first I thought it was actually the most cushioned shoe and that's where I finally figured out why there is such a difference in people's perception of cushion. It sank the most for me and felt trampoline-y but, it's not as squishy due to the rather thin foam cover on top of a hard carbon plate on top of a huge cushion. So it's like standing on the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man's shoulders as he walks around vs standing on a wooden plank while on his shoulders. It's going to be a smooth ride either way compared to the alternative of walking around, but it's much more cushiony by just standing straight on his shoulders.
weird, I tried on a pair of new More V3's today and they were shockingly softer than anything else I have ever worn. Like walking on clods, zero impact stress, it was insane.
@@FarazSyed-ke2cv I am still wearing the New Balance SC Trainer. I've worn it backpacking all over Europe and SEA and they've been great! most comfortable shoe i've had by far. I'm at about 1000 miles in them and am thinking of getting the new version of the SC Trainer and the More v4 (especially since they have darker colors that will be easier to keep nice during walks through dirty streets and hiking). But the SC Trainers, if I could find them for a cheap price and a good color, here in Bangkok, I would probably go with them again. Just be wary since they are a bit high stacked and unstable for most people. I only use one pair of shoes since i'm living out of a 40L backpack ha. if you have any suggestions, let me know!
I bought the More v4 mainly for walking since I walk a lots at work. The More v4 toe box is tight. It cause pain on my toe. I had to return it and got the More v4 wide version. The wide version fit much better for me and overall I am very happy with it. I like it felt soft, but not squishy and with a little bounce to it. Plus the stack height make me look taller is a bonus.
I’m on the edge of the wide range for fitting. I can go normal width with Sauconys but other brands need to be the wide size. Which kinda sucks cause the wide version usually don’t have all the kool colors 🥲
I’m having a hard time not just wearing these for every non workout run. Stable, soft, a little bit of bounce, comfortable upper, and the weight for its size isn’t bad at all.
This has yet to launch in the UK, frustratingly. I got 300 miles out of the v3 and loved them so super keen to have these and the Novablast 3 as my rotation.

And it is still my favorite Max cushion all day walk around comfort shoe of all time. I don't know why they did what they did to the heel it ruined the shoe for me.
I struggle with the max cushion category, all seem to be shoes that are heavier with similar amounts of stack height to a “daily” I wonder if there’s any real benefit anymore. Especially when marathon racers all are coming in with up to 40mm. Then there’s the super stacked prime x NB SC… are they really max cushioned these days? It’s crazy out there with the amount of options 🫠

I'm thinking I'll stick with the More v4 for running because I'm 6'4" and ~200 pounds. Hopefully the foam stays somewhat springy for a while. And then I'm gonna use the Rebel v2 for everyday usage since I got them cheap and they are so comfy and marshmallowy soft.
My son asked me for a pair of running shoes so I gave him my Fresh Foam More V2s with about 50 miles on them. I actually find that I don't really need a recovery shoe because my 1080v10s are so comfortable. Of course it now means that I can take out my Fresh Foam More V3s which I have not gone running in yet. I do not open up a new pair of shoes until I finish the old one. Next year, I'll look at buying the V4 when they get heavily discounted. Of course I start reading the reviews when they are available.
I feel like there aren't enough max cushion shoes out there. Each brand has one model, when they have several daily trainers, racers, and speed day shoes.
Would have been nice if you compared it to v3 and also some other similar shoes. Helps people draw similarities and comparisons to aid decision making. Just an fyi
The 1080 used to be the max cushion shoe in the lineup (before the More), but now it’s more of a plush daily trainer. Like a Grand Touring version of the 880. The More is a very modern max cushion. A lot of comfort underfoot. Not too bulky or chunky. Like a double stuff’d 1080
I wanted to love the More V3 but could not get along with them at all. That shoe gave me a horrible case of shin splints that took a long time to recover from. Not sure if it was the softness, drop, rocker or some combination of factors that didn’t work for my admittedly far from perfect form. These look nice but I would be too afraid to try them after that experience.
if Kofuzi can help me or someone else that would be great, I'm looking for max cushion shoes that are for everyday walking or walking all day as a sport rather than for running currently. I want as much cushion as possible yet aren't narrow. I thought about getting the v4 for walking but everybody keeps talking about it's running benefits I just need something for walking lol. Something tells me the v4 would not be suitable for walking since it has that trampoline effect from the lack of foam in the heel. I'm going to try it on in a store but still doesn't seem logical as a design for walking. I think I should look for a v3 if i'm planning on walking more-so than running. Any opinions?
Nice video man! But would you rather the Bondi 8 or this NB fresh foam x more v4? Im looking for a comfortable shoe, that's why im looking for a max cushion shoe
Great review as always..Can you compare this to novablast 3 ? In my place novablast3 is like 30% cheaper than NB More v4 ...Can novablast3 last for 600 Kms or more ? I want to buy a shoe for marathon ....Marathon is in Nov.. Would really appreciate your thoughts on Novablast3 vs More v4
More v4 or the super comp trainers? Which is a more comfortable shoe for everyday use? I have terrible lower back pain which has brought me to max comfort shoes. Any input would be appreciated.
Do you wear normal width? Or do you wear wide width? I am barely in the "wide" size because my toes are nice and spead (according to fleetfeet). I found that I can wear normal width with Saucony shoes but have to go wide on other brands (not all of them). The thing that sucks is that the colors are not as kool in the wide size. So I go with saucony most of the time
Great info. Kofuzi, should a person get a pair of running shoes for long runs (up to marathon) a half size bigger? For example, when you say your running shoe size, is that a half size bigger than what your regular shoe size is? Thanks
I don't think that's a bad way of estimating a shoe size if you've never bought a run-in shoe before, but it's an estimate. the best thing I can recommend is to go to a running store, have them measure your foot, and try on a bunch of different shoes to see what feels good.
Ive been running with this daily with size 10.5. And bought the rebel v4 today with same size 10.5. I find the rebel v4 a bit smaller compared to fresh foam x more. Do i need to exchange the rebel and get size 11 instead?
I just got the v3 for work and I've only done a short run in them. I was surprised by how firm they felt compared to the Novablast 2. Is v4 similar? Many reviews have talked about how soft Fresh Foam is.
Really? I found the Novablast2 horrible 😢 I put 150 miles on them and can’t really put a finger on what it is… but also, they got super frayed by the opening.
@@Thepianoman77 It's great that there are so many different styles of shoes to fit so many different types of runners. I do really like the More v3 for work though.
I noticed your foot strike it very similar to mine and was wondering how you correct that to stop the outer edges outsole wearing away quicker than anything else
Without conceding the premise, I will suggest doing warmup drills immediately before each run. But your premise assumes that the outer edges of my outsoles wear quicker than anything else. That isn’t necessarily true. See some of my 100 mile review videos.
which do you prefer would be best in comparison for those long distance recovery runs between these NB v4, bondi 8, saucony triumph or any other suggestions appreciate your time thanks in advance
I tried on the MORE shoe in a new balance store about 3 years ago.. it was HARD. Just because it is Tall, doesn't mean it is soft. did they change it? No Idea! not in a rush to try on a hard shoe
3 years ago!!! You really aren’t in a rush But you should really re-consider. This is a completely different shoe. Versions 1 and 2 were not great. Versions 3 and 4 are segment leaders.
@@kofuzi I saw a NB Rebel V3 review a year ago.. It finally came to 1 store locally in Dallas Texas last month and they don't have a wide. And the Official NB stores Do not carry it at all. Somehow FEET FLEET go it before the actual New Balance store.. not sure why... So no sense in being in a hurry when you watch all these reviews. Because most of these reviews are not good enough to make a purchase on. Everyone's opinion is slanted. BITR, and the little guy with the Shoedio... and your reviews... You have to try on shoes for yourself. Feet are the weirdest thing. Sometimes you feel a pain, and sometimes you dont. Its so easy to Blame a shoe. Also, A skinny 135# runner may say a shoe is too hard , but a heavy guy that weighs 175 may say there is nice cushion. A skinny guy may say a show provides a nice rebound, but a fat guy will say there is not rebound. It's all about WEIGHT. And personal taste. So, I cannot take all these reviews as exactly what I would experience. You have to try it for yourself. So , I dont get in a hurry over someone comments on YT because odds are, They are wrong.. haha Been there done that..
1 more point.. EVERY YEAR.. "This is the best shoe.". "Oh My Gosh".. "Its so great"... I think I am going to have a gasm.. Then 1 year later:: "That shoe last year had some problems"... "I hopeThey fixed those problems".. hahha rinse repeat... So I am not in a hurry! I heard it all!
Would you use these for the same purpose as the Glideride 3? For me, every day is an easy day. I currently run in the Novablast 3 and I am wondering if I should mix it up with either the More or the Glideride.
I know this video is older. But can anyone tell me if there is a difference between the "X more v4" compared yo the "more v4" ? Does the "X" mean something or do people just leave it out when referring to the shoe? 😊
the full name of the product is Fresh Foam X More v4. "Fresh Foam X" is the trade name for the midsole foam. "More" is the name of the shoe. "v4" indicates that it is the 4th version.
Anyone had any stability issues with these? I overpronate, but really want more cushioning as my Brooks Adrenaline are just to firm, and at the New Balance store I was told its cushioning or stability.
How does the heel feel with that split design compared to the v3? I'm a mid to heel striker and I wonder if the split will make it less stable in the heel.
I wouldn't necessarily say that fresh foam vs fuelcell is an either or situation. fuelcell is for speed days and fresh foam is that everyday softness. when I think about SC Trainer, I think long run with some moderate miles. when I think about the More v4, I think about recovery runs and easy miles
the perfect running shoes for me as a bodybuilder (113kg, 1,83cm). It helps me a lot to not ruin my joints when running outdoor or on the threadmill for an hour I love these shoes except this stupid looking reptile skin texture on the foam. They need to change that so the shoe would look better even with a non-sporty clothing style
I think it will depend on what you're looking for from your long run shoe. The More is more cushioned. The 1080 is a bit more nimble (but still very cushioned. it used to be the max cushion shoe in the lineup before the More was introduced)
How many miles do you put on each shoe before “retiring” it? Would the miles be different if you didn’t have the opportunity to try new shoes for review/sponsor etc…? I know it depends on the shoe. But maybe average. Thanks! 😊
A1. 100 A2. yes. Generally, at 100 miles, I stop running in a shoe so that I can test more shoes. I don't really have the luxury to run more miles than that. I'm a solo operation, and I can only run so many miles
I bought this shoes ss primarily a walking shoe. My weight is 292, height 5,8. And i had to return this pair after 2 full days of having hip pain. This is a very uncomfortable after 6 hours into my 9 hours shift i. Retail. Very disappointing, i really wanted to love this. I replace it with 980 v13.
can you clarify on the 34-35mm depending on who you ask for the stack height? does this mean whether or not insole was included in the calculation like how asic exlcudes it?
I never enjoy a max cushioned shoe like this. Don't know why.. The only 'max' cushioned shoe I enjoy so far are the skechers maxroad 3 and 5, which are not that soft.
Ciao Kofuzi! The more v3 is faster than the v4 but less cushioned? I bought a pair of v3 one month ago and there is written "fresh foam X" in the tongue and insole...did they change the formulation?
A1. No A2. I don’t understand the question. Are you asking me if the foam has been changed within the same More v3 model year? I’m not aware of that. Or are you asking if one of the More versions had Fresh Foam X versus regular Fresh Foam? Both shoes had a midsole foam that was marketed with the trade name Fresh Foam X. But all Fresh Foam X is not created equal, just as we find in Zoom X or React.
@@kofuzi Yes, i was trying to ask A2.b; if morev3 had regular fresh foam! Thank you for the answers :-) I think that if they change the formulation they should also change name of the foam...but probably marketing says otherwise

Great review! As always! How are they comparing with novablast 3? I think the purpose of those shoes is the same.
I wanted to loves these shoes so bad but for some reason I kept getting hot spots which lead to blisters on the sides on my feet.
Just an fyi
thank you for the feedback
I use the NB1080v11 for the same purpose: make easy days feel super easy on the feet/legs. How do the More compare?
The 1080 used to be the max cushion shoe in the lineup (before the More), but now it’s more of a plush daily trainer. Like a Grand Touring version of the 880.
The More is a very modern max cushion. A lot of comfort underfoot. Not too bulky or chunky. Like a double stuff’d 1080
thanks for video
You inspired me to cut golf balls in half and glue them to the bottoms of my Chuck 70's.
I wanted to love the More V3 but could not get along with them at all. That shoe gave me a horrible case of shin splints that took a long time to recover from. Not sure if it was the softness, drop, rocker or some combination of factors that didn’t work for my admittedly far from perfect form. These look nice but I would be too afraid to try them after that experience.
bought the 2E wide edition
i see many running shoes built narrow.
i‘m a big guy 187cm 94kg and big feet.
Will you review the Nike Invincible 2 and do a comparison video again?
probably not. I do not have any plans to run in the Invincible 2 this year
V5 review coming?
Random question. What kind brand and model of eyeglasses are you wearing? I dig them.
I think we know what's coming next, Bondi 8 vs More V4 ;)
Bondi series has always been more firm. I have a good pair of Bondi 6 size 12 u need to buy.
@@filoIII i have the Bondi 7 ;)
if Kofuzi can help me or someone else that would be great, I'm looking for max cushion shoes that are for everyday walking or walking all day as a sport rather than for running currently. Any opinions?
try it on. I think you'll like it for walking all day.
Nice video man! But would you rather the Bondi 8 or this NB fresh foam x more v4? Im looking for a comfortable shoe, that's why im looking for a max cushion shoe
How would you rate these compared to the novablast 3??
Great review as always..Can you compare this to novablast 3 ? In my place novablast3 is like 30% cheaper than NB More v4 ...Can novablast3 last for 600 Kms or more ? I want to buy a shoe for marathon ....Marathon is in Nov.. Would really appreciate your thoughts on Novablast3 vs More v4
More v4 or the super comp trainers? Which is a more comfortable shoe for everyday use? I have terrible lower back pain which has brought me to max comfort shoes. Any input would be appreciated.
I wouldn't really recommend the SC Trainer for a non-running application, although I'm sure many people will wear them casually
I wish NB would go with a softer foam similar to fuelcell.
They do have a fuel cell Rebel series..the best one is NB rebel V3 ..
@@easye1311 The fuelcell and fresh foam x could be more durable. The 1080s do breakdown rather quick.
@@JoshLruns gotchu..I got the more V4's and they are awesome even with the huge stack of fresh foam x
Really excited about more v4, do you have any idea when it's out in the UK, thanks
I'm afraid I don't know
Do you wear normal width? Or do you wear wide width? I am barely in the "wide" size because my toes are nice and spead (according to fleetfeet). I found that I can wear normal width with Saucony shoes but have to go wide on other brands (not all of them). The thing that sucks is that the colors are not as kool in the wide size. So I go with saucony most of the time
I wear normal width
How do they compare with the Nike zoomx invincible
I have Inv. 1 and More 3. Looking to sell the Inv. Bit firm, and a bit unstable. Size 12. Good condition. $80
I think because you've got the shoes, wearing them will give you the best answer
I’ve heard the Bondi 8 is more firmer and responsive than the FFMV4, what are your thoughts ?
Bondi has always been a firmer shoe. I don't like it.
I'll be doing a top 5 Max Cushion shoes of the Year video soon
great looking forward to your contain enjoy your in depth reviews
what you think about to run 90K Ultra? i been thinking go with Novablast 2...
Endorphin Pro 3
Endorphin speed 3
Adidas adios pro 3
Nike Alphafly
NB Supercomp
NB RC elite v3
Just a few I'd consider
Which other shoes would you recommend to go along with NB More v4?
rebel 3, endorphin elite
This vs novablast, hmmm
how does the FFX compare with the fuel cell foam?
New Balance considers Fuel Cell for their speed oriented days while Fresh Foam X is their workhorse platform for daily miles
I tried on the MORE shoe in a new balance store about 3 years ago.. it was HARD. Just because it is Tall, doesn't mean it is soft. did they change it? No Idea! not in a rush to try on a hard shoe
3 years ago!!! You really aren’t in a rush
But you should really re-consider.
Please do a Triumph 20 review, then vs with Mv4
It releases in late October, if I’m not mistaken
The outsole seems split under the heel. Did you collect a lot of stones during your runs on those gravel paths?
I don't think I like that split. I just KNOW NB will ruin the More line.
Would you use these for the same purpose as the Glideride 3? For me, every day is an easy day. I currently run in the Novablast 3 and I am wondering if I should mix it up with either the More or the Glideride.
yes
Idk man, not a big fan of heavy shoes. Seem soft though. Maybe for walks?
Can I use this for traveling like 4 days of walking and standing?
great for walking. not as great for just standing.
@@kofuzi Nice can you recommend any shoes that can do both?
@@kofuzi why is it not great for standing?
I know this video is older. But can anyone tell me if there is a difference between the "X more v4" compared yo the "more v4" ?
Does the "X" mean something or do people just leave it out when referring to the shoe? 😊
the full name of the product is Fresh Foam X More v4. "Fresh Foam X" is the trade name for the midsole foam. "More" is the name of the shoe. "v4" indicates that it is the 4th version.
@@kofuzi legend. Can get them for $130aud so might try them out.
Quick question - how is the breathability on the More V4? Thanks
Better than v3
Hey brother can you suggest me max cushioned shoes for road running ? (on hard surface)
doesnt this shoes suitable for acl patient?..cause the cushion as you mention might help to prevent any further injury
I don't have the medical qualifications sufficient to answer this question
Anyone had any stability issues with these? I overpronate, but really want more cushioning as my Brooks Adrenaline are just to firm, and at the New Balance store I was told its cushioning or stability.
As a forefoot striker, morev4 or nimbus 25?
I'd go with the 880v12, unless you're a shorter distance runner or sprinter
NB More V4 or Saucony Triumph 20?
I prefer the More v4
@@kofuzi thanks for the response. I think I’m also leaning that way
These or the Invincible 3 for Recovery?
these
How does the heel feel with that split design compared to the v3? I'm a mid to heel striker and I wonder if the split will make it less stable in the heel.
my understanding is that swallow tail types designs help distribute impact forces to the heel more evenly
@@kofuzi does that make the heel feel less firm compared to the v3?
👍
These vs the Supercomps? fresh foam vs fuel cell?
I wouldn't necessarily say that fresh foam vs fuelcell is an either or situation. fuelcell is for speed days and fresh foam is that everyday softness. when I think about SC Trainer, I think long run with some moderate miles. when I think about the More v4, I think about recovery runs and easy miles
@@kofuzi Thanks for the reply it helped out a lot!
wouldn't it be cool if they used FuelCell instead? Not interested in the TC cuz the stiff plate.
maybe give it a try. the plate seems to be serving a mostly stability function in the SC Trainer.
I went a half size up as recommended by road runner. You think that’ll be too big or fine?
I have not recommended that people size up in this shoe. whether that will work for you will depend on your foot
I just got mine today and returning for a half size bigger.
the perfect running shoes for me as a bodybuilder (113kg, 1,83cm). It helps me a lot to not ruin my joints when running outdoor or on the threadmill for an hour
I love these shoes except this stupid looking reptile skin texture on the foam. They need to change that so the shoe would look better even with a non-sporty clothing style
would it be a good shoe for fast walking?
Yes, although I’m not a race walker so I would defer to the opinion of someone who participates in that sport
Is it a better shoe than the 1080 for long runs, thanks
I think it will depend on what you're looking for from your long run shoe. The More is more cushioned. The 1080 is a bit more nimble (but still very cushioned. it used to be the max cushion shoe in the lineup before the More was introduced)
can this be used for a tempo and speed session?
How many miles do you put on each shoe before “retiring” it? Would the miles be different if you didn’t have the opportunity to try new shoes for review/sponsor etc…? I know it depends on the shoe. But maybe average. Thanks! 😊
A1. 100
A2. yes. Generally, at 100 miles, I stop running in a shoe so that I can test more shoes. I don't really have the luxury to run more miles than that. I'm a solo operation, and I can only run so many miles
Wish i could get this in India. It's a shame New Balance doesnt sell to India.
The black gradient on the foam makes it look dirty. Not a fan.
Mr.Kofuzi, can u help me, i want to buy the new shoe, from your point of view, which one is better? Nova blast 3 or this V4?
I'm not sure what kind of running shoe you're looking for or if you even want this shoe for running, but the answer is probably the novablast 3.
@@kofuzi thank you very much mr.kofuzi for helping me👍👍👍
I bought this shoes ss primarily a walking shoe. My weight is 292, height 5,8. And i had to return this pair after 2 full days of having hip pain. This is a very uncomfortable after 6 hours into my 9 hours shift i. Retail. Very disappointing, i really wanted to love this. I replace it with 980 v13.
What do you think caused the hip pain?
And who can resist a giant chair?
Is it softer than the previous version ?
yes
Kofuzi Recovery run pace is equal with my Threshold pace 😂
It’s all relative
Great review! These or Glideride 3?
can you clarify on the 34-35mm depending on who you ask for the stack height? does this mean whether or not insole was included in the calculation like how asic exlcudes it?
comfy
I never enjoy a max cushioned shoe like this. Don't know why..
The only 'max' cushioned shoe I enjoy so far are the skechers maxroad 3 and 5, which are not that soft.
maybe try this one?
@@kofuzi maybe. hearing lots of good things about this shoe.
This series is usurping the Bondi for many. I had funny problem with V3. The collar irritated my ankles.
That shoe had a lot going on in the upper
I hated the giant floppy muppet tongue on V3. I could get a good lock down but it felt sloppy and muffin toppy like a big girl in tights.
Boy, I sure have a way with words.
Ciao Kofuzi!
The more v3 is faster than the v4 but less cushioned?
I bought a pair of v3 one month ago and there is written "fresh foam X" in the tongue and insole...did they change the formulation?
A1. No
Thank you for the answers :-)
I think that if they change the formulation they should also change name of the foam...but probably marketing says otherwise
