- *Sponsored Video* My 'new' Acura Vigor had a broken tail light. By some strange stroke of luck, I found a complete Acura Vigor at the Pull-A-Part facility in Atlanta. Lithonia GA for those of you that want to get specific about it.
There I was able to get a new tail light to replace my broken one as well as some other useful parts for my Acura.
If you're not familiar with Pull-A-Part, they're a self service salvage company in the US. They have 25 yards in 12 states. I'm not just saying this, but they've become my favorite place to go for salvage parts. I suggest you check them out.
To make it easy, here's a link to their website: www.pullapart.com

This is some next level acting you got going on there Eric :D 2:05 dat genuine excitement though
lol
Was a little uncomfortable when he stroked the taillight. Felt like I should have turned my head for his privacy or something. ;)
I was excited to find the Vigor and caress it's taillights.
I recently had the same feelings towards a Geo Tracker's tail lights. Luckily the salvage yard was empty heh.
Is Vigor a man or woman?
We know this is a commercial, but I wish my local junk yard come close to this.
we have pick n save where im at. very awsome place. just look around. you might have one close to you just name different
+themfknightrider420 my local ones rip off people and hang up if u ask them any question. Their respond usually "it's a junk wtf we know who took what" which seem about right
"Can these rotors be turned?" (guy behind the counter grabs the rotor and turns it around on the counter) "Looks like yeah."
+Darwinpasta lol
t dub that really has to suck.one i go to there really nice. i would look around and see if you can find other one.
Eric! You forgot your toolbox! ;)
Crap!
+EricTheCarGuy Eric... You need a ViP card!!! ASAP to save a buck, and it's free to save a dollar. You can have them put your email in the system so that your receipt can be emailed to you(for warranty etc). That place is my favorite place aside from the hardware store ;)
+1blisslife pfft VIP card. just go be a fireman or policeman and ring in the savings
+Brandon Evans You obviously haven't been to that place mate. The dollar is the least of it as far as savings, and if you can save it? Why not... You've earned that dollar already! Why not keep it in your wallet or put it in petrol next time you fill up at the fuel station! Much better than handing it away!
why would they need the savings, i doubt they drive pos cars
This is funny Eric I always go to pull a parts here in Nashville and have found a lot of stuff including just recently a sun glass holder console that Nissan said would be 284 dollars to replace, in stead I went to pull a parts pulled one out for 4 dollars and 95 cent if you can do it do it yourself and save that money. Thank you for bringing up Pull a Parts great place to go and people should know about this place.
We have "Pick-n-Pull" up here in Calgary Alberta. It's the same system, vehicles up on welded rims, crazy sale days, and I drive by it everyday on my way to my shop. The only bad thing about it, there isn't a piece of gravel within sight. In the summer it can be a virtual lake, and in the winter you have to shovel snow to get to some parts. I have gotten parts for every vehicle we have owned for the last 15 years, whether its 5 years old, or 25 years old. I have two sons, and we fixed more than a few fender benders with parts from there. Ours even sells cars that are to good to scrap, but are donated for various reasons. All of the profit goes to the local kidney foundation. I think I'll stop by on the way home to look for some comfy leather seats for my 68 fiberglass dune buggy!!
Similar here in Idaho, our yards are sand where they have the cars and the main isles are gravel, but in the winter you have to get out in the rain, snow, or whatever and lay around in the sand/mud if you need anything underneath. Summer isn't bad, just have to watch for wasps, yellow jackets, bees, etc.
Our yards also started putting vehicles out front for sale that were in good working order rather than scrapping them, I'm glad they are doing that, however there are several that end up on the lot that make you scratch your head as to why its there in the first place. I just wish the lots would write on the window good transmission, good engine, type of stuff so customers know hey that vehicle has a good engine I can pull that one and know that at least it ran when it was brought in, or hey that one has a good transmission. Something simple that they could be asking the people they're getting the vehicles from.
I wish they had a salvage yard like this. We have LKQ which is very similar but they don't have the nice computer system like they do!
Any promotion of junk yards left is a good thing... Thanks again ETCG!
I live 6 miles from the Atl East lot. Been there many times. ;)
Some parts are nabbed by the Ebayer's. I needed a 100A fuse for an Nissan. Auto parts stores only carry up to 80A. I went through EVERY car on the import lot and all the high amp fuses were gone. The last car in the lot was new and not the right model and I nabbed a fuse. When I checked out, they asked what I had and showed them the fuse. They said "Bye"
So, if you need a common part that has a good ebay value, you may have a hard time. Checking for a car that just came in is a good idea.
I upgraded my '90 Cherokee to a '99 intake and throttle body (better flow and much bigger.) I picked up the later plenum, throttle cable, cable mounting plates and fuel rail. Cost me under $35, less than any on ebay.
I should have gotten a block from them as it was cheaper than the worn engine I got off CL.
I've actually been thinking about pulling an engine/transmission for my Jeep just so I can go through and clean it up and rebuild it and have it ready when/if that time comes.
That is the cleanest pull-a-part I have ever seen, wish they were that clean and organized.
I love it there, I live in GA and the closest is 15 mins from home while the farthest one is about 40 min drive. I love that place, clean and they only keep cars that are worth a while, they remove the ones that have little parts on them. this place has saved me so much money on all of my cars!!!
This the most advanced scrap yard I've ever seen. In my country, scrap yards look like they are street outta the apocalypse.
Anyone that thinks this was strictly a sponsored ad, doesn't wrench much.
Pull a part/junkyards are the best part stores in town.....Getting a full leather interior in immaculate condition for $70, is my biggest score so far........you can damn near refurbish your old car using pullapart.
Anyone have any "big score" stories from PAP, they wanna share?
You definitely can get some dang good stuff for sure. I got 4 wheels and tires for my car for $140, tires looked brand new, and the wheels were in great shape, different style than what's on my car but for $140 I can have the tires swapped over, or just swap all 4 wheels/tires...not going to complain for the price. 1 tire is about $140 from the tire shop LOL.
I have gotten a few seats in the past, but usually they're pretty worn out already but I always check because the replacement seat I got for my truck is a different color, with a seat cover nobody would ever know but I know its different so I always check, someday I will find the right one. I think it was $20 for the seat, which included the seat and the mounting rails too. Pretty good deal considering an aftermarket seat is close to $200.
Probably the best pul-a-part video ever made.
Hell with the naysayers. This is actually a decent advertisement. It's concise, and very informative. I wish I had been able to see this BEFORE I first went to pull a part. I stood there looking stupid and asking all these questions. It's really a simple process, as shown. Could have included though that becoming a VIP member is FREE. I installed cruise control in my manual transmission chevy s10 with parts I got there for around 40 bucks! That place can be a godsend!
Damn Eric, your commercials keep waking me at 6 in the morning.
I just googled U-Wrench-It last nite, and Pull-A-Part came up. You can also check their shit online. Glad to see these junkyards getting updated.
LKQ is not great at updating their website, I drove an hour to find the car I was looking for was replaced weeks earlier by a pink vw bug..the car I was looking for is still on the website in the same spot
That is actually pretty awesome. Last time I went to Pull A Part, it was literally a wasteland junk yard free for all.
Wow...I mean, that yard and system is tidier and more efficient than some army barracks I've seen. The scrappers I go to, look like your typical yard where you spend half a day trying to find something and basically spend your money on admission going there to try to find a part. Very cool and slick setup!
There are 7 of these yards in my city in Australia. Very much the same as here although 2 are fully concreted. The others have gravel and mud. Love going there, it's like what women must feel when they go to a shopping mall!
It's funny when Eric goes up to the counter and is like how you doing? And he can help smile!
man, that's a luxury auto pull your parts place....i must be in the ghetto...we have huge mud puddles and basically mud....broken glass...and cars that sit on rims without tires mostly. Then i'd have to find 7 vehicles to find one that has something left i need. You went to just one car and got the first part...amazing.
The pull a parts by me price gouge. Sorry, not paying $40 for a cracked tail light for my ranger when I just did all the work to bring it back to the counter. Picked one off ebay for $20 and called it a day.
All the ones here in NC are the same. It's rediculous.
+331sbf Yup our NC ones do the same. It's absolutely not acceptable.
I could have gone to the wreckers and gotten that tail light for a dollar around here
I'm glad the one by where I lived in Texas doesn't do that & wish they had some like this in Glasgow! Cheers
Ya or rockauto.com
Wow...that's the cleanest yard I have ever seen. I'm used to having to walk through puddles of oil saturated mud, broken glass and cars/trucks just thrown about a couple acres. Wish we had this one locally. The inventory check computer up front was way cool.
Better than Disney Land
Right?
Also great if you need some practice taking something apart. Do it on a junker first before doing it on your real car. We've got a Pull A Part nearby so it's really convenient.
The mall is a good place also
No lines. No kids. Yep
I'm glad you actually disclosed it was a sponsored unlike some other people
People who complain about sponsored videos aren't seeing the whole picture, as usual. If I start a company and invent an amazing new product that could save mechanics hours of labor, how in the world would I ever reach the viewers here to tell them about it? A lot of people like me don't even have cable anymore so advertising on TV won't work. Having Eric demonstrate the product for the viewers would reach a nice audience and maybe improve the lives of some of them. If it weren't for this video, I may never have known about Pull a Part - I had never heard of it before.
Pull a Part is my go-to place for JY parts. Clean with good prices... no complaints.
That has to be the best part pull lot I have ever seen.
Much better then the oil filled landfill with the shack by the gate.
There's one about an hour from me - gotta check it out. I miss browsing junk yards. Last time I did was for a p/s bracket, and I came home with a marine 305 engine, all the controls, and the sterndrive for $200. Took an axe to the transom so I could lift the whole thing out with their bulldozer... you never know what goodies you can find in a good junkyard!
I miss that place. I usually went to the north location off Buford Hwy since that's where I lived, but sometimes trekked to the Lithonia yard for certain stuff. It's nice that you can check the other locations just as easily.
That is Amazing! Buying used parts here in Ireland is so unpleasant. I wonder if that would work on a smaller scale. Great Video Eric.
Those guys are so hi tech and professional compared to what I'm used to. At all of the places I've been to, there's just one cantankerous guy behind the counter that says "Whaddya need?". When I tell him, he'll say "Back over in that corner, and don't pull any parts off of the one next to it". Of course, the vehicle is usually overgrown with brush or sitting in the mud, sometimes both.
Looks like he was so excited over the taillight, he left his tools behind! :)
Going to a junk yard was always an adventure, and I miss those days. The industry has had a revolution, but not all of the changes are completely aligned with the interest of the consumer. With internet advertising, prices climbed because it is easier for the retailer to find more customers. And with the price of land balanced against the return on scrap metal, inventory has fallen, especially when compared to the increase in vehicle diversity. If you're looking for a small part that doesn't have well defined value, it may be trashed when the rest of the vehicle is sent for scrap. I wish they would keep vehicles longer than they do.
Very true. RUclipsr Shango066 discusses this when he's repairing a 1st-Gen Ford Explorer. His local pull-your-own salvage yard was purchased by a foreign group, who immediately doubled prices on parts and shortened the amount of time a vehicle stays on the lot before scrapping, so they could send the steel back to feed the mills in China. Depending on the original pricing, sometimes that pushes salvage prices up near new part territory (when new is available, that is). He said they occasionally have half-price days, usually on holidays, so he'll go in and get parts then.
We've had a couple of "traditional" salvage yards close up shop in the last year or so. Not entirely sure of the reason for one, maybe their land lease was up and didn't want to renew/weren't offered to renew. The other was making more from the on-site garage than the salvage and scrap operation, particularly due to scrap prices falling so dramatically in the last couple of years, so the last good offer he received for the land, he took. He's moving the shop across the street, and will continue that operation. I imagine the new owner probably wanted the land, and will sell off/scrap the remaining inventory and clear the land. Development is gradually turning around in this market.
Dang that is awesome!
Looks very organized and clean.
Your pick-a-part is way better than the junk we have here in LA!
Thanks for going over how Pull-A-Part works. We have one in Canton but I've never been there.
OH MY GOD!! I MIGHT NEED TO MOVE TO YOUR TOWN ERIC!! What a great system. I'm lucky if my local pull it yard has a clue what they got in in the last DAY! I just gotta show up, pay, and start looking. Great yard you have. Luckyyyyy.
It is like a wonderland that's for sure.
I love these places here in ATL. They've saved me a ton.
There's a place here in Minnesota near the twin cities called U-Pull-R-Parts that is pretty cheap compared to even regular local salvage yards. They don't always have what you need but they are really good on price considering. It's worth the drive from nearly anywhere in the state if you need a bunch of parts for a single or multiple cars.
That's awesome, like a giant candy store! My state sucks. We only have "recycling yards" where the workers go and pull stuff for you so you can't see what shape it is in first. They also will only pull certain items, like you can't have them pull small odds and ends you have to buy the whole assembly. Last time I went I wanted a window motor and they said I could only buy the entire door. It was cheaper to buy a brand new window motor.
We have similar over here but its called Pick-A-Part, but their yards are dirt (not pretty when it rains).
are from nz
dirt, glass, all manner of shit really haha
Nic Paton Yup
+GoneBadKiwi nice to see an nz bud ☺
Yes, same here in Arizona. They place looks much more neat and organized than pick a part.
You should do a series on engine diagnostics. Not necessarily repairing them. Just how to diagnose the problem without a computer or reassuring what the customer says is wrong.
that's 15 minutes from my house here in Atlanta. cool. hope you enjoyed your time down here Eric.
Loved it. Both times.
I had the same excitement when I got wheel speed sensors for 97 Geo Prizm. They didn't have wheel speed sensors listed, so miscellaneous sensors is $6 each. The web was $300 a piece. Who knows what dealers want. So I spend less than $10 for a potential $500 ABS repair. Diagnostics involved a borrowed multimeter for an hour. I also got a battery for my friend for $25 two years ago. It's still going strong.
VIP cost is free; everyone should get one.
Been there done that. Ill be doing it again im sure. Keep up that great attitude, Eric!
I shop here all the time, this place is awesome. we usually well get a few people who need things together and make a group outing of it and hit all three of the atlanta metro ones.
Man, I wish they had cars in Canada.
Yup I'm tired of riding my moose to work
My friend in Canada tell me they ride moose and polar bears to works...
wtff lmaooo
veterinarian is the equivalent of mechanics in canada
Yep, we really need car..... xD
I go to the pick a part here in Houston every time I need to find a replacement part for the 97 Camry. Always a great place to start, and very inexpensive.
That's a well organised junkyard. I'd definitely be a VIP if I lived near it.
pull-a-part is such a great place, i love going there for parts
If only all pull your parts places were this nice
I wish there was a clean and professional looking operation like this in/near Connecticut.
my local salvage yard has been in business for 40 years, and its family run. plus, they know me from when I worked as a tech at various shops here in town. since my well loved cars are twenty years old, they have several in the back. i stop in, tell them I need some things, and they say help yourself. usually since I just need small stuff, like brackets and specialized bolts, when I go to pay, they say just take it. i needed a 3t40 (125c) transaxle for my daughter's car. found one with 50,000 miles on it, I spent the afternoon pulling it, and the owner said ahh...$50 ok? it was like new, clean fluid, no leaks. was going to rebuild the old one, but because a bearing failed on the oil pump drive, the pump/valve body was hashed. minimum $250 plus the rebuild kit cost. anyway, the used trans has been in 3+years with no problems. total cost for the job, trans, fluid, new torque converter and axle seals (preventive service) and filter kit and trans flush? about $125. vs $2000 for local shop. sometimes being a old mechanic is sweet! lol
Oh my god, text alerts from the wreckers?! Mine need's this, I'm gonna start hounding them to get it for sure!
I mentioned it to a few of my local yards, they didn't seem interested at all, but then again its another added expense for them that they'd have to pass onto the customer which means higher priced used parts, and takes the fun out of going to the yard and looking around...I usually don't bother getting a list of where certain vehicles are, the yards aren't that big anyhow, just a few rows of different makes and they're all broken up into pickups up front by make, all the cars are in the back of the lot broken up by make pretty easy to figure out where to go without the list, and its more fun to look around anyhow LOL.
thanks so much for the video I'm only an hour away from pull a part and it's good to have more knowledge about it
I've been to the Pull-A-Part here in my area. The layout is great and yes the gravel can be helpful when the ground is wet. I may be too skeptical, but I have my reservations about purchasing some items from a salvage yard. I did purchase the lower intake at P-A-P from a 1999 Vortec 350, I don't need it now so it sits in my shed. Maybe I can clean it up and put it in a yard sale.
I've ran across new/almost new parts on vehicles in several of these yards. Someone's vehicle starts having issues and rather than paying to have it properly diagnosed they start throwing new parts on and pretty soon they've rebuilt the engine bay and still have the same problem, but those of us who frequent the pick a part yards can get some dang good deals as a result of someone else's carelessness. I got a high output alternator for my truck for $15 just brought it home and swapped the correct pulley off my old alternator over and instantly went from a 60amp alternator to a 90amp alternator for $15, it was almost a $200 part from the parts store which given how they're horrible quality is anymore it may or may not have worked anyhow.
Hahaha! Nice video! I love my Pull A Part. I've got a 2002 Nissan Maxima in my fleet. I needed a steering wheel for it. I called Nissan with my vin#. I couldn't believe it! $1503 for just the steering wheel, no bag!! Was at PAP for another car but printed a list of all the Maximas. To my surprise, there was a Maxima there with what looks a new steering wheel!!!!!! $10.95!!! Say what!!! I had that steering wheel off in a matter of seconds!!! They're starting to phase some of the older years out. They don't stay on the yard long now. I've noticed more newer models, 2005 plus. I plucked a $1000 valve body from a transmission for $50. I've gotten transmissions too. One of which was already pulled from a 3.5 Altima. The previous person just needed the engine. There's some good stuff there. Check out the oil change stickers, Or any stickers on the door jamb, or engine compartment for electronic odometers.
I've been using Pulling-A-Part for a while and really like how they keep a clean yard. Others have followed suite. I'm near Columbus and they have a Pick-A-Part and they've copied the same yard concept as Pull-A-Part.
I love that place! It looks like they updated some things
looks much cleaner than the lkq yards we have out here ive given up on them and found a small locally owned yard out by me for all my parts
holly cow ! i work in lithonia ga ....eric's in the hood ! thanks for what you do !!
Awsome! Nice that they have this search website and an application :)
I have been to Pull a Part many many times.
Used to love going to the junkyard to get parts but not any more. City ordinance prevents junkyards that are near me from expanding by buying new land so thus they are on the small side and they send any vehicle over 10 years old to the shredder as it takes up valuable space for a car that they could make money off of.
This is an awesome lot.
We had one close to like this here in Owensboro but it got shut down because of lack of business.
I've never seen one this advanced though, I might have to check it out when I come up for the meet.
Although I just realized I missed an ETCG1 video with you and Charles so this may be in Atlanta.
I was down there 4 months ago to buy an Acura Integra GSR and don't want to go back anytime soon lol
The closest ones for me are in Indianapolis or Lexington.
+EricTheCarGuy
Oh wow. You're worse off than I am.
All I have to do is jump across the river to Evansville to find some pull a parts. (Nothing this fancy but they do the job)
Wish our pull it yards were that nice and clean.
I don't have a Pull-a-part near me. Went to one in Indy before though, scored the seat I'm still using as an office chair. The places near me are Parts Galore and US Auto of Sterling Heights. Gone to the latter and scored quite a few things for my PT Cruiser.
Pull-A-Part there is very similar to Pull & Save here in Spokane, WA. Only Pull-A-Part seems to have a little more "advanced technology" with the self help machine and the ability to get notified of when a vehicle comes in.
If someone knows what they are looking for, they can get a really good deal at a place like this. A few months back I was able to save myself over $200 by going there to get a different valve cover for my car. Napa wanted about $216 plus tax for it (and I would have to wait for it to get shipped to the store) while I was able to get it from Pull & Save for $6 (plus tax) + $2 entry fee.
Here in northwest Indiana we have Pick-N-Pull which is virtually the same as Pull-A-Part minus the user interface. Even the admission fee is the same lol. Personally I don't go there very much unless I need parts that aren't subject to wear or short term deterioration or I can't seem to find anywhere else. Then again that's why every mechanic/technician/DIYer/car savvy guy/girl goes to these places lol.
That is awesome dude, there is a "Pick & Pull" here in Tallahassee, but the yard is not clean as that business you are getting your part from, but the rest is pretty much the same.
Great place Eric! I Could spend all day there. The gravel, what a great idea, nice and clean.
nice setup they have there..i like that option to notify if a car comes in.
I just got a distributor for Honda Accord. Pull and inspected a couple. Got the best one of the bunch and put the one I didn't want inside the car. Bought it along with some other stuff and put it on with no problems. Cranked right up!!! Only set me back $29.99 vs a new for $230.
I mean if you think about it. All the parts on your car NOW are USED PARTS.
They're already missing from the Hondas in my area. The company which runs the yard also has a full service salvage yard at which they charge full price for parts they sell. I suspect the company removes them before setting the cars out for salvage.
What a beautiful site that is. I wish there was one in Eastern MA (not many automotive enthusiasts in MA; boring). I love junkyards, especially when I need body/interior parts or trim parts that are no longer available as new due to ceased production.
BTW, I just thought you could have bought the junked Vigor as a spare parts vehicle.....
When I got my Celica in 04 it still had the original tape deck. Electronic Express replaced the ancient two level tape deck with a single level CD player, and just sort of put a false panel over the lower level where nothing was. My cupholder locking mechanism later broke so I went to PullAPart to find a working one, and when I was about to give up because it had been removed from the dash, I happened to look in the back seat and find it still mounted to what could only be a "refreshed" version of the dash layout, as rather than a two level tape player this one had apparently had a single level one, and still attached to the lower level was a storage compartment. I grabbed that shit and ran (well, to the counter, then to my car once I'd paid) and took an ancient 91 Celica's dash that consisted of nothing more than radio and tape playing and managed to add more functionality AND storage space than the original car had.
Pull a Part is the shit if you do your research. Particularly if you have a car from early in a generation like mine was. There are many similar cases where the newer cars are much more common to find and feature upgrades that bolt right on to the original design because they were added as a refresh rather than a new generation. I have a 2DR Rav4 and for the first two years it only had rear cupholders, whereas the last 2-3 years had another redesigned dash that can be removed and replaced. Hell, it's probably not always a guarantee depending on how the system is setup/what the ECU is capable of, but in the case of this same car I could order a certain wiper stalk from a completely different, more modern Toyota and it would bolt right on while also giving me more control over the wipers via intermittent mode.
If you've ever worked on a computer, it's worth it to go there just to see how cars work similarly. Manufacturer vs manufacturer comes down to Intel vs AMD mobo layouts. If you've worked on one from a certain time period, you've basically worked on them all from that period. If you have trouble finding parts for your car, use the internet to research its development. In MANY cases, even including my bizarre looking 96 2dr RAV4(ok I said it) it's just a sheet metal body and seat tacked on to the same drivetrain. My Celica and 2DRav4 are functionally identical aside from the wheelbase which is much shorter on the Rav4. All the stuff that was ever put in the RAV4 was also, in some variant, attached to a Celica, Corolla, etc.
Bonus fun fact: I am actually converting my Rav4 to AWD from FWD. This is possible because unlike the Celicas from the same time period that used the EXACT SAME AWD system (the only time it was not called All Trac or GT4 was in the case of the RAV4, presumably because the car name makes that title redundant and is already a lie for the FWD models) the RAV4 only ever had one body made for the US market at LEAST for the 2DR models. This means that not only are the mounting points for the entire differential and drivetrain are there, but they actually lazed out at least for those first two years and instead of offering alternately designed wheels (mine are the upgraded 16s so it could be that the lower end models had a different story) they used the EXACT SAME rear wheels on the FWD and AWD models. I discovered this when I had a Jedi moment and decided I should actually take the cap off and inspect stuff before going to PAP to buy AWD versions of the wheels, and I discovered that Toyota had installed axle shafts connected to nothing into the wheels to support the weight rather than manufacturing solid versions of the same wheel. On the outside it looks perfect, with clean cauter pin holding it in and everything, but where the joint should connect to the rest of the axle and be filled with yucky fluid is just an empty shell.
I really miss having to go to Pull-a-part, I used to go there (the east Atlanta location, actually) all the time to get parts for my heep. I haven't been there since I bought a new car and haven't needed to get parts for it.
We have pull it yourself junkyards where I live and I love them. I've seen when they carry new cars in, everyone is like a vulture digging through it
What an awesome salvage yard. If only they were all like that.
Pick-N-Pull is another that's pretty near identical to this. They don't have as good a computer system but can tell you if they have a particular car on the yard before you pay the entrance fee.
Honestly these are perhaps THE BEST salvage yards in the U.S. because they aren't paying for the time to tear down a car corners (And connectors) aren't cut. The yards are incredibly well organized and clean, not fields of weeds with surprise snake bonuses.
damn nice yard, understand u want to do a sponsored video for them. I have 2 salvage yards nears me, they have no stones so mud, the cars are dumped on the ground so have to life them up. 1 of them doesnt even order cars so u have to look forever :P The prices are very cheap though :) Definatly my favorite spare time , fixing cars with salvage parts. Also a great place to learn, how the parts work before breaking your own :)
That is the nicest most high speed 'junk yard' I've ever seen!! O_O
I have a 'U-pick-a-part' close to me and have saved a ton of money there. Latest example: Chrysler fuse/power module $20. Dealer wanted over $700 new!
These places are the best thing since sliced bread. Years ago, I would hit a place called "Pull-n-Save" in Fla. U.S.A. The place was almost exactly the same, with the exception of having the handy dandy computerized info at your finger tips. Still felt like a kid in a candy store though. Now that I think about it, it may BE the same company, just changed the name over the years. Feed back?
I like these Pull-A-Part places. Those with a staff to pull the parts for you, were just getting too expensive. Most of them have a minimum purchase price. Sometimes the dealer part would be less.
Eric, Do you think you can do a review of this sort for Pick-n-Pull® self-service used auto parts? Many of the independent auto dismantlers here in California have sold to Pick-n-Pull® in the last decade-and-a-half. There are a few on the East Coast and some in Texas but very numerous in Northern California. I'd really like to get your take on them. Pull-A-Part seems awesome though. The gravel coverage is a great innovation for these yards. It not only saves you from getting grease all over if you want to get under the car, the gravel is also a rudimentary filter preventing toxic substances from leaching into the ground.
i love going to the pick n pull for car badges and to see wrecks of cars....i know kinda weird but i find it amusing looking through the cars and learning their death...still looking for good looking badges there
I do wish my local one was that sorted.
Instead I have to go every couple of months to see if anything interesting has shown up.
That's the best inventory system I've ever seen... So fast =O
i suggest you check under the seats, behind the glove compartment, the middle of the hand brake lever, and under the rear seats.
I work in a car recycling plant so i know where to find some money :D
I really wish we had these in the UK. Great business idea.
I love this place!! Got all my parts for my old 96 Integra from here.
holy crap pull-a-part is so much more advanced than pick-your-part in Cali! in fact, I lived a mile away from a yard but its recently closed down. LKQ sucks
good junkyard vid. a good amount of people don't know about self pull junkyards!
I love self pull junk yards, I've never seen one that tech savvy up here in Canada though .
"pick n pull' have 2 locations here in Calgary. Row52 app is useful when your planning trip. VIN can give insight into part variance/etc. I often find it helpful to google new parts before hitting yard to confirm which donor cars are good.
We have the same place here in Australia, it's called You-pull-it. But everyone calls it you steal-it, because the place has had a long history of bike-gang related goodness.
This looks incredibly good! I really hope some day we will have something similar in Finland
wow I must say I am jealous that you have one of those where you live and that its automated that well. Out here in Northern Nevada all we have is a pick n pull but its not set up near as nice as yours back there is. Thanks for the video
That is much cleaner than the Charlotte Pull A Part!
Wow - that's a lot more modern than Pick-n-Pull, which is what we got around here.
