  • I use a lot of Bernat Maker Home Dec Yarn and find that I have a lot of small leftover balls of it that I can’t seem to find a project to work them into. I decided a coaster would be a good way to use up these leftover bits of yarn where the Bernat Maker yarn was just used for one round and a different yarn used in the center. To make this work I found that I could use a worsted weight yarn held double stranded in the center of my coaster and the Bernat Maker for the outside for a simple flower like coaster. I decided I would share today on my blog how I made these.
    Materials Used:
    6.0mm Crochet Hook US J-10
Yarns used Bernat Maker Home Dec and Lion Brand Cotton-Ease (held double stranded)
or other Bulky Yarn (Category Weight 6 Yarn) or a Worsted Weight Yarn held double stranded
    Darning Needle
    Sizes: Approximately 3.75”x3.75”
Gauge: Not terribly important for this pattern
Full pattern will be added to my blog again soon, I will update once I have it back.

did you have to reduce the size for your car? or did this same size work?

@sabrinaphipps180 yes, I did. I don't remember how many rows I did. I suggest you measure the cup holder or make a template and crochet it to size.

Most coasters stick to cup or glass but not these they are perfect and look so nice on table or counter.

Thanks mom :) These yarns actually work so well for coasters, I also think holding the yarn double stranded makes a nice thick coaster that is perfect for iced drink cups.

I have dyslexia and I love this tutorial I just wish it could have been slowed down lol I'm a beginner. How do you tie it off or finish it off?

I weave in the ends, I try to just show how I make a certain item and not all of the steps that are basic to the craft to help keep my videos shorter and to the point, many parts in the process are ones even a beginner should know and easy to find on RUclips if you don't. Weaving in the ends is something that you will do in almost every crochet project, so I would suggest looking up different ways and finding one that works best as there are different methods for doing so. Here is a video that is pretty much the same method I use to finish off my piece ruclips.net/video/NPcRcMFH0Ns/видео.html
