Excellent question. Try to get god grades. it will always help. It is not paramount but sure can set you aside in a competitive spot. Make sure to deal with what is within your control。Having good grades is within your control.
well it depends, normally you must go through carms and then specialize in family medicine. you can also just pass QE1 and do something call Practice ready assessment and then start work directly or do another exams called TDM.

Can IMGs who are not interested in specializing,practice in Canada as general practitioners after passing only the MCCQE part 1 exam??

Yes of course. it is very possible. you can even join research groups, do clinical assistant and many other jobs
