    Great info! Thanks, Debbie! Info very consistent with our experiences with both types. We are getting 60 Rhode Island Red pullets today. They will be replacement hens for a mixed flock that includes mostly ISA Browns & Production Reds.
    This is a very good video! Very helpful info, & just the right amount & volume of fun background music.

    I like the Isa Brown - but they don't live very long, and they have lovely temperament, but the Reds are lovely too - they have a different personality, and they look at you and each other in loving ways. My beautiful hen died recently Chicky Chic and she was so out there with the personality talking to me and other chicks - she also purred a lot and kept me company all the time.

      Yes, both Reds and Isa's are really good birds for a flock. Good egg layers with a great temperment. So sorry about your hen, they can be good pets that we miss just like any other pet. So great you gave her a good life! Thank you for watching!

    Great video about comparing the two varieties! We have 2 ISA Browns and 2 Rhode Island Reds in our little flock (along with 4 Sapphire Gems). Our ISA Browns are the friendliest of the flock and loved to cuddle when they were chicks! They still want to get petted more than the others. I've noticed that our Rhode Island Reds are bit more independent and curious than our ISA Browns. The top hen in our flock is one of the Rhode Island Reds and she keeps everyone in line!

      @FindingBeautyKG very nice! Never had sapphire gems but would love to try them. Rhode Island Reds are very good at taking charge, so definitely makes sense she keeps everyone in line! Thanks for watching and sharing your info. With us. Greatly appreciate you!🥰

    I like Rhode Island Red since they're tough and friendly , live up to 10 yrs (don't care for rooster) just want for 4 hens to start my farming hobby.

    Thank you for this video. One thing that I wish you would’ve addressed was eggshell quality.

      @donnastormer9652 You're welcome Donna. Thank you for pointing that out, will take note of that and work on creating a video about their eggshell quality. Definitely appreciate your feedback on that, and thank you for watching!

      @@Mothercluckerschickenfarm thank you for replying. Could you give me a brief update? What do you think? Are Isa Brown egg shells decent or a little soft or thin?

    What is the breed of the rooster you have?

    • @Mothercluckerschickenfarm
      @Mothercluckerschickenfarm  День назад

      @traceyellis7415 Thank you for asking. We have two different types.2 Rhode Island Red roosters, and 2 leghorn mixed Roosters. The leghorn are mixed with another breed. Our Rhode Island Reds are very calm and docile. The 2 leghorn we have are for the most part good, but can be a little more aggressive at times with the hens. We keep a watch on them.
      Thank you for watching!

      Wow, that is awesome! You obviously take great care of your rooster. Our isa brown's are very calm, never had an issue, and they are great egg layers too! Thank you for watching and commenting!

    I have all sorts of chickens but all the RIR's have been mean as chicks ...I can only imagine how terrible they'll be as adults. They cannibalize each other, whereas none of the others have done that. I 💯 disagree with the opinion in this video ...RIR chickens are not nice at all. 🙄😕

    • @Mothercluckerschickenfarm

      You definately can disagree. The video I put out was my experience with both breeds. I am sorry that your chicks are that mean, that's awful. In the 6 yrs. I have been raising RIR's, I have not had that experience. Sorry that you have had to deal with that. Thank you for watching.
