    On November 11, 1918, 1 minute before the official end of World War 1, a soldier died. He was remembered as a hero, and memorials were built in his honor-but that wasn’t the entire story. As it turns out, this man wasn’t quite exactly the hero that he was made out to be. Let’s dive in…
    If you're new here, hey! My name is Andy Jiang and I do clearly explained, extremely detailed dives into some of the most fascinating, bizarre, and unreal untold true stories that are out there. Subscribe and turn on all post notifications so you don’t miss any of my weekly uploads!

      😢😢😢😊Leviticus‬ ‭18:22‬ ‭KJV‬‬
      Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination. Ephesians 6:10-18 says, Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints. The bible is no old book. You have to really let Christ open your eyes; to see the world in shambles. Many people say it's a religion to lock up people in chains, and say it's a rule book.. why? Because people hate hearing the truth, it hurts their flesh, it's hurts their pride, it's exposes on what things have they done..people love this world so much, s*x, money, power, women, supercars.. things of this world. Still trying to find something that can fill that emptiness in your heart. You can't find that in this world.. only in Christ, the bible is no chains, it's a chainbreaker. Breaking your sins into pieces... Repent now, and turn back to the true Lord only.. God bless.

    I think Henry wanted to die. It seems like he knew that his actions were futile and was desperate to redeem himself in the eyes of his comrades and country, or die. He was depressed, lost his girl, his hard-earned position and the respect of his peers. It was a choice between either gaining all that back, or dying. Unfortunately his depression drove him to this ridiculously dangerous act and cost him his life

    • @stephentroyer3831
      @stephentroyer3831 9 месяцев назад +43

      Yes, I hear depression above any other motive. He didn't have an apparent reason to face life back home without his girl, without the honor he had just lost. For whatever reason, turning his gun on himself was not acceptable for him, so he took the last opportunity he had to get taken down by the enemy.

    There is no way in hell that he felt ashamed
    looking from his perspective, that he lost his job, girlfriend and potentially future wife, life, comrades, and everything because the war started, he most likely would've have hated his enemy, and put the blame on them for ruining their lives. This would then give a better reason for rushing the enemy, for he already lost his position, probably adding fuel to the flame.

    • @snorefest1621
      @snorefest1621 6 месяцев назад +6

      He felt he had lost everything, he lost his rank, he lost his fiancee, he lost his regiment's trust and he lost the place he rightfully belonged, and thus, his deliberate final charge was perhaps suicidal, in a literal sense. He will be remembered. He was abused, at least mentally, and also suffered from the trauma of the other soldiers' district in his loyalty. But no, he was not a valiant man who would meaninglessly die for his country and fellowmen - unless he was reduced to a machine. Dying in the final minute of war wouldn't realistically change anything. He reminds me of Olaf, glad and big, who was ridiculed for his anti-war stance, who stood up for the personal principles prevalently dominating his peaceful pacifist personality.

    Can we talk about how censorship (by his own people) was the main cause for all that happened to this man?
    I'm amazed that noone is pointing this out

    You should have showed more images from WW1 instead of stock modern military clips and WW2 German reenactment clips. It’s a better so the audience can have an idea of what the soldiers looked like, specially those who don’t know much abt the topic

    If i remember correctly, they held off on surrendering for a while because they wanted to do it at 11:11, so he wouldnt have died if they just gave up quicker.

    Think how you like about Henry. In the end, he did achieve his goal to regain his rank and honor. But with what cost, Henry. With what cost?
    I bet he knew the outcome of his action but he did it anyway. Perhaps to Henry, his life for honor, fair trade it was.

    Poor guy. Keep your wits about you, and no matter how many people try to screw with you, you will eventually come out of it on top.

    It's funny that in retrospect, it's the fiance, peers, and army who are remembered as the traitors and unamerican. Given how she acted, Henry's life with that sort of fiance probably would have been horrible anyway.

    Sadly, due to a certain War mongering American general.... many soldiers died even after the war had officially come to an end. The fact that he is remembered with reverence and respect to this day is absolutely disgusting! And, I will not be mentioning his name here.
