Loved this video - excellent work!
Thank you! I appreciate it!
Wooow you did an excellent job! I also agree with your choise of using a young plant because in a few years it will have merged very naturally with the dead wood and will be a real living sculpture! Congratulations my friend! 👍👍👍🔥
Thank you Roberto! I'm really glad you agree with the choice! Cheers!
I think is the best decission, to cook it slowly with an small tree. As always, just great.
Thank you Israel! I'm really glad you agree with the plan! Very long time since I watched any new material from your channel...
Wow ever video I watch becomes better and better. Showing your techniques with no commentary is even better, sometimes I think people talk too much in there videos; I like to hear what artists and tree are saying/feeling with to each other as they dance together in art of bonsai. Thank you Sir.
Thank you for the support! I agree with you. Sometime there is a lot of talking but not showing. Have a great day!
Lovely lovely lovely dude.
Very envious of your location 👍👍👍
Thank you mate! Cheers!
Not anticlimactic at all! It takes discipline to start the long journey of a Bonsai and not get carried away with instant gratification. Great job!
I'm really glad there are people out there that think this way! Thank you David, I appreciate it!
Thank you! I'm really glad you agree on using a young plant and much patience! Cheers!
Tanuki are so interesting to me. I love the way this turned out! I don't know a thing about them yet but it appears you did a fantastic job. a great piece of dead juniper!
Thank you Taco! I believe it's going to turn out really interesting! Cheers!
That's some outstanding work!
I'd started my first major tanuki last year using some Grey Owl juniper, it endured it first winter with little die back.
I look forward to seeing an update on yours.
Thank you mate! It will be exciting when the time comes for wiring. For me, this is going to take a while. Good luck with your tree! Cheers!
When I look at your work I have the impression of a tree that came back from a long dormant period of life. I can follow your idea of taking a young tree and enjoy the journey in future. Tanuki is for me a good way to “revive” trees that did not survive my treatment. I like your style with no talks, essence only ❤
Thank you so much your beautiful words! I really appreciate them and I agree with you. With some patience, this is going to look like an alive tree that's 500 years old. Cheers!
I did not find the ending anticlimatic. Instead, I was amazed at how you attempted this tanuki, and filled with curiosity about how the tree will develop over the coming years! Brilliant job, my friend!👍
I do have a rendered visual of how I'd like the tree to look in 6 7 years, but I did not include it in the video this time. Thank you John for the support!
@@ArkefthosBonsai - you are most welcome! I would love to see the rendering. Just found your channel and am really enjoying your work! 👍
@JohnThurlbeck I appreciate it a lot! I'm going to do a video about working on that tree in early June, I'll include the rendering then!
@@ArkefthosBonsai - I look forward to seeing that then!
Yasou Fotis, that is awesome what a masterpiece this is and will look amazing in years to come. Take care and keep up your great work 👍🏼⭐️👍🏼
Se efharisto Harry! Have a great day!
This is sooooo incredilble my friend! What a great find while hiking! If I ever find such a great treasure in the forest while hiking. I will feel like I have Won the Lottery!
That's pretty much how I feel! Thank you!
good job
Thank you mate!
Gratulation!
Beautifully said Andreas! Couldn't have said it better. Thank you!
beautiful :) a day well spent
A day... or two! Thank you Bastian!
In a couple of years time, this will be an amazing tree. It seems you have a nice collection of trees already. Always a joy to watch your videos. Greetings!
Thank you Dimitri! I'm thinking 3 to 4 years to start wiring and become something interesting. Cheers!
Congratulations, very nice project. It was a great pleasure for me to be able to watch you design it. thank you very much and good luck. Greetings from switzerland
I appreciate your comment Pablo! Love Switzerland, everytime I've been there, is awesome!
Salud
Thank you Fabian! It's true, at some point I will have to apply lime sulfur to keep preserving the deadwood, unfortunately. Cheers!
¡Salud!
Thank you Chus! Do you have any specific suggestions in kind? Products that help preserve the deadwood, but not change the appearance?
Gracias Chus! You've been very helpful!
Bellissimo
Thank you Giuseppe!
I truly hope you'll update us over the years. It will look amazing by year 4, I'm sure.
Definately! For now, it lost its top, 10cm (4in) but the new tops below have grown strong, in a year I'm going to exchange the dead with another. I want it to grow tall enough to come above the deadwood and get some sunlight. I would say more than 4 years. Itoigawa seems slower than regular Chinese juniper. But I'm afraid the next important update might be 2.5 years ahead... Thank you!
Bonsai master. Thanks for sharing.
I'm actually making another tanuki with a dead juniper I killed last summer.
Thank you! Is it an impressive deadwood?
Me encanta tu canal y tus contenidos.
¡GRACIAS! ❤
¡Salud!
Thank you Chus for your comment! I think I might be able to make a faithful live vein with the protrusion of the old vein, which is almost like a c channel. Plus some other tricks I want to use in the future. Cheers!
Gracias ❤❤❤❤❤
🤩
i think you should carve that live vein so as the trunk swells it will set automatically i and you will not need to add new nails over and over
Yeah Alessandro, I get it. I will try to set it with the wall of the vein which is substantialy high, though. I think it will be fine. And I prefer to keep adding nails and generally working on it. Don want nail it and forget it for 2 years. I think it will get there. Thank you for your comment! Cheers!
Is the best
Thank you Amarta!
What did you brush on to the lower portion of wood after cleaning? Thanks
Chris, I explain everything in the captions - subtitles. I applied wood hardener, 3 heavy coats, wet on wet, to really let the hardened penetrate deep. I hope this will help preserve the wood in the long term. Cheers!
@@ArkefthosBonsai Thanks, I didn't have my CC turned on.
Maaf , tuan saya mau bertanya . Media tanam yang anda gunakan seperti pasir kerikil ,sebenarnya itu media apa, mohon penjelasannya, salam satu hobby . Saya berasal dari negara indonesia.
Hello Yoseph! I hope that you are able to find these materials in Indonesia. I use zeolite, pumice and perlite all from 3-6mm size. Sometimes I add a bit of organic soil from the forest. Have a great day!
Please tell me where you are located, do you sell trees and what is your name? Thanks much!🦋
Hello Gale. I'm in Southern Greece, Peloponnese peninsula. I do not sell anything yet. I'm creating good quality stock and at some point I will. Although it might take 2 to 3 years. My name is Fotis. Cheers!
Thank you Fotis🦋
How wonderful to be where you are. I, too, live in a wilderness world. In the Pacific Northwest of America, in Washington state.
Pine forests too. Wishing you well, Gale
Pacific northwest is the only place I would live if I had to move from here. Oregon to Seattle. Wish you the best Gale!
Get the tree ready do we need to watch you peck around
No, you don't Stan, no you definitely don't. I hope no one made you sit through this. Cheers!
Well when I saw that stunning piece of deadwood I thought there was going to be a amazing tree attached to it. Sadly I was mistaken. Instead I witnessed a immature shoot being lost in the composition. Ended up ruining a lovely piece of driftwood
Thank you John for your comment. I explain my thought and procedure at the captions - subtitles which I guess you did not enable. Nevertheless, the name of the game with bonsai is patience. Even though this looks anticlimactic now, in 4 years there will be foliage in all the right places and I'm going to be able to wire it and give it a first shape. Meanwhile, I can enjoy this as a sculpture in the garden. I wouldn't call it ruined. Cheers!
