It would probably be beneficial to add a few steps and handles separated by smaller angles, so that it’s easier to apply forces shifted away from the center of mass.
It looks hard enough to move inside without hitting your head already, adding more bars would probably make it so there isn't enough space for a person. Maybe if it was bigger
I hate that RUclips decided that NOW is the perfect time to recommend this, when we don't know where this master piece ended up after 5 long and crazy years
It just occurred to me this shape is so cool no one can admit it is too clumsy for a stage show even three years later ruclips.net/video/ny-ZPqxG62g/видео.html
this is more entertaining than seeing a "professional" do it, cause they would make it look effortless, and one wouldnt appreciate how much effort actually goes into steering the apparatus.
@@henryseg I feel a little disappointed. They didn't show off essentially any of what makes the tao line unique, it's just people using it like a see saw. Do you have a video of it being taken through the full range of motion?
Please give this to one of the Cirque Du Soleil performers and film what they do with it. I'm sure it will be incredible as I see a lot of potential here.
Alright hear me out. If you for example start learning how to play an instrument. You're really slow, not sure where everything is etc. but after years of training your super fast. Imagine how it would look like if someone trains to use this thing and just zooms through a city xD
Interesting, bit I'm sure it could be more spherical, and effectively lose the corners (which seem to be a bit of a problem if the centre of mass isn't quite right), while still having lane-changing properties. It probably wouldn't be such an interesting shape from certain angles though.
a gomboc wireframe could provide some compelling paths, but its rocking motion may be too challenging for even a professional to use in an extended performance
*Guy 1* : "Should we pay a gymnast or someone familiar with acrobatics to show off our creation on RUclips?" *Guy 2* : "Nah bro, I got this. Hold my kombucha..."
What if there would be a type of "chair " in the middle? It fixes you only on your hip. Like these security "strap on's" for climbing. And it's needed to bee twistable. Or maybe it work's with a type of bar from left to right in the middle to sit on it. With a little bow downward to sit in your weight... So, maybe it work's a bit like cycling... If you drive left or right it will twist your angle...
Absolutely looks like a Theta. Look forward to that video when it comes. Just hope it coped with the light. And then the Theta version once there's a circus performer in there.....
i know exactly what would happen if i tried to stand in it and move i would put my foot down and then a very loud "clunk" would be heard and i would abruptly fall forward.... i would probably fall quite violently as well, knowing my luck.

For a non Circuis performer, Lee was pretty bold! I would probably be more like Henry trying this out the first time lol.
EDIT: next up: square wheels
As a circus performer, I appreciate the courage and definitely agree

Lee was also having more fun
I would definitely do it Lee's way! It looks so challenging and fun!
I can't see it replacing the car.
I think there is some potential, just needs some tweaks
They would make some pretty cool wheels.
Might be easier to parallel -park though.
Maybe if you put it in a vacuum tunnel.

I would suggest adding infinitely many of them in a symmetrical arrangement. We could call it a sphere.
Alao add a bottle holder for drinking during breaks, a towel hanger and a small wireless TV.

Only downside seems that while turning, it leans on a point, which can damage the floor or get stuck.
A lot of clunk there
I think if the end were to curve in a bit then it wouldn't hit the floor. I think it would still work
this is more entertaining than seeing a "professional" do it, cause they would make it look effortless, and one wouldnt appreciate how much effort actually goes into steering the apparatus.
That doesn't necessarily make it more entertaining, it just let's us appreciate the object more
This reminds me of a sphericon, but hollow and more complex.
Please put a professional in this as it has potential to be really cool and graceful! Sorry henry

Ditto, I'd love to see someone deft with it, after a year or so of practice. The problem is you'd need a whole gym or parking lot to yourself.
Lotsa dead bodies along the way!
I’d love to see a bunch of these dancing around the stage
as a tall person whos's afraid of cyr wheels... this is an absolute nightmare
Arm injury, head injury, nose injury, getting blind, vocal cord injury, rib injury, broken ankle, smashed ball-sack! The list can go on!
Please, please, please someone use deep learning magic to erase the metal thing and leave the guy moving weirdly! 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Would love to see someone using this as vehicle, running the sidewalk like its natural and everyone staring like: "wtf?" 😂
That was as smooth as silk
Are you sure you guys aren't circus performers? 🤔
This looks like so much fun!
Hey you uploaded, very nice! That looks really fun
Ready for Burning Man
It almost looks like a fibonacci sequence. Really cool!
It needs twice as many foot bars to step on. That way you wouldn't have to take such large steps between the bars.
Wowwww this is awesome and your braking boundaries sir!

Whew the precision with which this thing had to be welded... highly interesting
What a great video!
Misread the title, came here to find out why you called it the 'taco line.' I'm not sure whether to be disappointed or not.
Hope some day we can build one of this here in @NICA in Melbourne!! Wishing you all the best!
Dude you give me that stage and that contraption and I could be entertained exploring it for years
More to come? Neat!
This is amazing... I need to see a performance with it!
I also need that m
I can’t wait to see someone master performing on this
Thank you Henry, very cool
This reminds me of many years ago when I met the American group Momix dance theater in Belo Horizonte!
COOL!
It needs more handles & footholds on The Inside ( ? )
Or rubber bands suspending you in the center.
Not really, it’s just scary at first but you’ve got plenty of arm space already
You'd be invincible at a game of the floor is lava.
The points that hit the floor should have a tighter curve than the rest of the spiral.
imagine having this on a playground instead of monkey bars or something
Man that looks like fun!
That looks really fun to play with.
There we go, content to upload!

I wanted to see someone who was a actual acrobat doing this lol
This looks fun id play with it for at least 20 minutes for a workout.
Thats cool, takes quite the amount of core strength too.
Is there a way to have a shape that can roll in 2 or 3 different axes? Or perhaps 2 rolling axes and 1 spinning/turning axis?
I can tell you of a shape with *infinite* axes to roll around, you might've heard about it: a sphere 😉
