The 1st & only ratchet that I've owned from Ko-ken is the hand or breaker-bar 3/8 with quick release. It has so many possibilities with a 3/8 breaker-bar... Just like the older Snap-On ones that I own. I got 2 from Snap-On & 1 from Ko-ken. Got these from my Dad, who recently passed in Oct 11th 2019. I love Ko-ken! They're awesome! 👍

Fascinating! That clear cover was a brilliant idea to be able to show how the updated tool works. It looks like the power is maintained because even though the teeth are smaller, there are many more teeth engaged on the "power stroke." I like it!

Not to diss Palmac, but every order I have placed with them, which is not a huge number I admit, even though items show "in stock", they don't actually have them and it takes about a month to ship. I think I've ordered 4 small orders, common sockets ect, and this has happened every time except once. So you'll get the ratchet for sure, but not for a while most likely.

Nice to see a vid about ratchets that recognises the importance (at least as I see it) of back-drag *regardless* of tooth-count - good one, thanks!
(By the way, one of the comments talked about the strength of the higher tooth-count. It's true that they've managed to get these factors to go up in unison, but what I would note is that the effect of dirt and grit getting in the finer mechanism as compared to the bigger, coarser, teeth of the older one is likely to reverse that apparent win-win dramatically!)

@@MrSubaru1387 my name is Michael by the way. Are there any problems or things about the Tribeca i should be aware of? I just took a fairly looking trip. Drive from Florida to New York, then from New York to the upper northeast tip of California, then from there back to Florida. Was just under 7k miles and when i was going through Alabama to the Florida line, i was basically ran off onto the emergency lane at night and i went off into the side of the road (going about 25-35) and sat there for about 15-20 minutes to regain my composure. I then went tti a rest area and slept. I got off at a exit, hit some gas. Drive about 150 per so miles and stopped to use the rest room and when i got back on I-10 I noticed it sorta /kinda slipped going from 3rd to 4th and i called my extended warranty company ( CarSheild) and took it to the Gainesville, Fl. Subaru dealer and the mechanic said that the transmission is toast basically. Said that the #1 shift solenoid went south and wiped out the transmission. So it's $7,000 or so for a new one. Carshield lady i spoke to said that it may not be covered because me going off the road would void the warranty due to it being a non-mechanical break down. What's your opinion?

Well this is good to see, is a shame needed customer input make it happen, should of been in the works 10 years ago as obvious progression .
While the 36 tooth is indeed amazing to use, reduced swing arc was always a useful improvement and silly numbers like 120 really not needed .
I guess the way that pawl works introduces some lash o the arc but if as smooth and low drag as the 36 it be a winner .
I'll be trying one out and expect waiting keenly for 1/2 and 1/4 drive options .
Koken got lot of potential but marketing and general brand awareness is appalling considering innovation and quality level to cost they retail at .

One thing I want to point out, yes it has the lowest back drag. But it has more free play vs a snap on dual pawl ratchet. To go from ratchet to applying torque it moves more. That means your swing angle is actually more than the 5° a normal 72 tooth ratchet.
