Thanks, Nikki - I really enjoy watching your videos. So practical. One thing that I would like to know is how you handle that totally distracted kid that's playing with a toy and no adult around - oh, and singing to himself - when there are 2 kids in the class?
Betty Anne Tarini I would mute the mic. Ask: Where is your mom/dad? Even if they don’t answer, it can make them change their tune and then you can shift their attention toward the lesson. Only turn the mic on when you want to engage them and if it’s impossible to engage them focus primarily on the student that’s paying attention. Sometimes completely ignoring them makes them engage because they feel left and know you’re not going to play their game.
