If any Yowza animators are watching this and feel inferior, I apologize and don't mean any harm. This is just a comparison video.
All rights go to Netflix, Warner Bros. Entertainment and the respectful owners of The Cuphead Show! and Looney Tunes Cartoons. I do not own any of these clips.
No copyright infringement intended, for entertainment purposes only.
This is a bonus video while I'm working on something else.

These two shows are modern classics imo; they take clear inspiration from rubberhose/old classic cartoons but they still have that modern flair that makes it stand out from the rest. I would love to see more stuff like that.

Also, The New Looney Tunes Cartoons has some grotesque moments (e.g. Bugs shove organs to the Mummy's mouths) that gives Ren and Stimpy some competition.
After all, this is Pete Browngardt, the creator behind Uncle Grandpa, who is the executive producer of the Looney Tunes Cartoons.

The Cuphead Show gives off the vibe of a 1940s - 1950s Golden Age of Animation with a bit of essence of a 2013 Mickey Mouse shorts. This goes to show how complex the Toon Boom Animation's rigging system actually is.

    • @kootunesscrewy

Tbh, I kinda see some fluidity in this show. And it definitely matches with that classic Fleischer and Van Buren feel, mixed with the early 40s Warner Bros shorts.
But unfortunately... it's way too indistinguishable as the Yowza episodes of Looney Tunes Cartoons and doesn't meet the "cartoony" standards of Wander Over Yonder or Mickey Mouse.

The Cuphead game is animated on paper, while the show is animated on computers using puppets, this is why it feels like the game was actually made in the 1930s, while the show is pretty good, but feels like a reboot made in the 2020s that tries to be faithful but isn't completely faithful.

Idk. Both animation styles look very indistinguishable and they aren't in the same lane as Wander Over Yonder, those recent Mickeys or the last two seasons of Zig and Sharko when it comes to smooth animation, expressiveness and exaggeration.
But they are great for their own right for reimagining classic Golden Age style. At least they well animated compared to... that awful Oggy reboot.

My main gripe with Looney Tunes Cartoons isn't the art style honestly, it's the animation consistency. I think there's a reason why Yowza works on very few episodes for the Animaniacs reboot since the animation director of the show wanted it to be mainly frame to frame.

It’s hard to say what to think about the animation. However I’m aware for the production of Cuphead the animation was done in Canada if believed. Not sure where the animation is done for Looney Tunes Cartoons.
But let me tell you this aesthetically though, I enjoy the atmosphere of the cuphead show because it’s show that is based from a game that was heavily influenced by cartoons from the 1930s most likely from the Fleischer cartoons and some from Disney. I admire the backgrounds from that show as well since they add details for an example such as some shadows in lighting on some certain areas so as when they add the 3D backgrounds like the original Fleischer cartoons. The colors are ok in the world of Cuphead, they may not be bright or saturated but it matches the world and characters.
However for Looney Tunes Cartoons, honestly to me it’s very painful that they try to look and feel classic with overused music ques that would hear from the original cartoons. Honestly Carl Stalling and Milt Franklin did those music ques better than Carl Johnson’s that even I think for today that I wish they used Christopher Willis who work on Pual Rudish’s Mickey shorts. The character designs feel weird and off, and to be honest… it kinda looks ugly in some characters like I know there trying to accomplish the early/mid 40s look but it looks off still. For example Wile E. looks more sinister looking than we first time we saw him with exposed canines, sharp claws revealing like needles and a far eyed look. Sylvester looks like he’s smells bad and trust me, even if you don’t own a cat you know what they smell like after defecating. Eric Bauza’s voice sounds annoying on Bugs and Tweety but sounds decent on Daffy Duck. The backgrounds look like that they’re inspired from Maurice Noble but it doesn’t look right on the character designs on some. The facial expressions are kind of Grotesque and again they’re trying be something that we already seen before with some gags from the original cartoons that are rehashed into something else story plots.
Go ahead reply if you want defend Looney Tunes Cartoons or say something against the Cuphead show I don’t mind.

Finally, this is how I feel about LTC (though I don't mind the designs and the only thing I find off about Eric's Bugs is how he does the Mel Blanc scream a lot and how little other characters do that, cos Blanc did that for nearly every character). The music cues! Seriously! They work for Animaniacs since they are like spiritual successors but not for Looney Tunes. Especially since they had a theme song so that meant, especially in the early seasons, they gave some characters random themes. Like I don't if you noticed but Bugs had a "do-doo, doo-doo, doo-doo, do-doo" melody sometimes (e.g. the scene in Mummy Dummy just before he was about to be 'massaged'). However, I was going to criticise Cuphead for being a bit too kiddy and not really like the old cartoons but then I decided to let them off since, unlike LTC, they weren't explicitly saying that they are exactly like the old cartoons (unlike the games) and also how they take place in a different universe from the games. Plus they do have random moment like the dark moments whenever Mugman goes insane or characters like the Devil singing while dancing. Also LTC made me dislike their version of Daffy.
If you want something that was what LTC could've been, then I highly recommend "Cat Burglar" on Netflix. Only catch is that it's interactive.
