- After more than 4 months of gathering clips, selecting them, finding the right musics, recording cinematics, trying out effects, syncing everything, learning how to use After Effects, polishing stuff and a lot of frustration, here is what I believe to be my best edit to date: The Quake Champions Reddit Community Fragmovie
I did what I could with what I had, and since the announcement I had put up to get clips from the community did not get me as much footage as I had hoped for I had to use quite a bunch of clips taken from Twitch (as the players didn't have the raw recordings). So sorry for the poor quality and Twitch overlays.
I also didn't get the chance to feature as many players as I would have wanted, but would definitely have had if more clips had been sent.
I'm still very satisfied with the result and hope you guys will like it too :)
Now that the Quake Champions subreddit has grown quite a bit and keeps on getting bigger I will very likely do another one of those community montages, but I'll wait for the game to have a replay system as that will make the editing possibilities and clip quality much better.
As always :
1) I upscaled the video to 4K so the video doesn't get compressed too much, so if you want a more satisfying viewing experience (and your internet is fast enough) you can watch it in 1440p or 4K; the image will be crisper (even if your screen doesn't support those resolutions) as the bitrate is much higher
2) I didn't activate monetization but the song owners did

What a joy to watch, very neat editing and lovely sync.
You're clearly improving, most notably with the transitions and the in-game audio clips.
The opening was impressive as well as pretty, tho I noticed a bit of "flickering" on the icon and text when they were tracking the moving background.
I'd probably be more impressed with the clips themselves if I actually knew more about the game than the very basics.
There's a easy fix for that and this community 'tage certainly got me interested to maybe one day get 'round to fixing my lacking knowledge.
It's also nice to see you involved with another community and making more of these community collaborations.
Regardless, lovely stuff as always. Keep it up, ya lovely beast of a man.

There's indeed some flickering on the motion tracked titles and reddit logos, it was my first time using the camera tracking effect so the unperfections are a result of my lack of experience and not knowing how to fix it :P Also it's actually a bit difficult getting cinematics in QC right now as you need someone to create a custom game for you, whereas in T:A you can just go in training mode and record your shit. So I didn't want to bother my friends again asking them to re-record the slightly glitchy cinematics

@@doom5895 I've come back to play quake recently. Got so tierd of the snowflake fps games released over the past 6+ years. They will never know the skill and dedication that had to be put into old fps games just to become decent.

I recorded the cinematics and Rynsh acted haha, he's the one you see bunny hoping around like a boss
I simply created a custom game with him, recorded my stuff and then cropped the spectating HUD in premiere pro
thanks for the fast reply! so basically it's was a custom game while you were in free look spectating - I've thought on that but tbh I was hoping there might be a special tool or something somewhere.. it would be great to have one already... but maybe after netcode & etc gets fixed, devs start to focus on demos. I also did the 'HUD-crop trick' before, but in your video the graphics still look sharp & crisp. Were you running on 4K or what? :D When I crop the video, it immediately gets a little bit blurry... for me it's enough to spot it once.. then it "ruins" the thing :)
Oh and those 360° statue model shots.... where are those from * . *

I love this! I admire the rocket jumps and strafe running so much. I don't even bother trying to play competitively because I struggle with these aspects of the game so much, but this video sure is inspiring enough to want to try harder, so thanks!

Very nice, but two questions which patch did slash have 125 hp/75 ap? And how do I make something cool like this?
Not sure when Slash had 125/75
I know she had 125/50 for a very long time, since the closed beta
And they gave everyone +25 max armor with the Vale Of Pnath patch (December 2017)
And how do you make something cool like that? Learn Premiere Pro through RUclips tutorials, get good clips, find some nice music and sync the kills on the beats
You'll get better with time :)
Just always be extra demanding with yourself and don't be satisfied if you don't think it's perfect

how did u record the maps in the beginning? Im trying to edit myself so i tried to find map showcases
Created a custom game, put myself as spectator, regarded some shots and cropped the HUD in my editing software

You shoudl have made it in actual ultrawide, not rendered it with black bars! X
Cinematics have black bars because they were recorded in 16:9 and I trimmed the spectator HUD at the top and bottom to make it clean

now that ive come back to respond to your post the music changed to something more interesting while i was typing. so its just the first song that sucked. the second is actually good. if the first song had been that good i wouldnt have gotten bored and stopped watching. though it still could have used something with a faster BPM
