Though I realize that this video is dated and some of the place names have changed, it is still nicely presented. I look forward to my first visit to Huntington this year, and even hope to settle in town for my long-awaited retirement.
I'm back in Huntington, West Virginia after many adventures that began in 1966 when I departed the city with my family for Florida. My last residence was in Seattle - which has returned to barbarism.
I miss living in Huntington West Virginia, I am looking forward to moving back there soon, although I was born in maysville, Kentucky Huntington was always like my second home, I miss my home church (Christ temple)but I also miss the people and eating at Tudor biscuit world (yummy)
Haw, HAW! Compared to Leftist Blue cities like Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, Chicago and New York City - Huntington, West Virginia is paradise!
@@Ronbo1948 No way there is nothing there anymore! Went to Simms, Lincoln, HHS and Marshall! It’s now the heroin capital of the Nation. Netflix did a special on Huntington it was so bad. Shady politics, shady city hall, shady cabell county period.
@@DDub-ls3op Again this is nothing compared to the big city hell I survived in Seattle. You want to see big city political corruption by the Democommunist Party? You want to see thousands of drug addicts shooting dope into their arms just outside the expensive apartment building you live in downtown? You want to see buildings set on fire, 12 square blocks of the city occupied by the neo-Nazi ANTIFA/BLM? You want to see daily riots that feature looting and ultra violence against a police department? High taxes? 80% of the businesses closed - you just come Seattle. I've been back in Huntington for nearly a month and on the surface things look pretty normal.
@@Ronbo1948 What!? A month!? Just give it time; give it time!? I’ve been around the world literally three times so I can tell You from experience and world travel that Huntington is nearly the bottom of the barrel. Yes all that is there is eateries and MU and maybe Army Corp if Engineers. Every one fighting for those few positions. West end and East end both dumps, south side has very little hope as crime and grime closes in. Additionally a neighbor right next door had a cross burned in their yard on the south side 1st and Belford Avenue right down from where the big clock is. One block from Ritter Park. Dump!
DUH! I was born in Huntington, West Virginia at St. Mary's Hospital and went to school there up to Huntington High School. I had father issues so I joined the U.S. Army and departed in 1966. During my military service I spent time in 32 different countries and returning to the States have lived in 35 different ones to include Florida, Texas, California, Montana, Alaska, Utah and Washington state. I'm 72 years old and looking for peace and quiet, so we'll see how it works out here, but so far I'm liking it very well - the rents are low, the housing prices very affordable, and the scenery excellent. Downtown Huntington looks much improved and I love the Huntington Mall.
