I know this is 10 years later but I have a sleep number 5000 that is way older than yours, the pump on mine is way quieter. I absolutely love my sleep number bed. Cal king dual chamber, I love it so much that I am replacing the cover as it has worn over the almost 20 years I've been sleeping on it. It took me about a month of trying the different settings to find my number.
Same. We have the SN 5000 series, adjustable base King, that we bought in 2003. No problems with the firmness control system, no leaks in the air chambers. The mattress covers are wearing out/stretching a little on the side and the foam comfort pads (don't look like hers) are starting to deteriorate and have flattened out in the center area where the heaviest parts of our bodies lay. But seems reasonable after 18+ years so I'm actually shopping for a new foam pad to replace the original.
Mike Smith My mattress is coming apart along the side seam and the bottom lining letting out fumes of the foam and whatever is inside the mattress. Before I noticed it my husband was getting a runny nose every night. 2 weeks ago we switched sides of the bed. He is doing better. I wake up with a headache, blood shot eyes and shortness of breath. I had to have my first allergy shot ever Saturday. Last two mornings I am blowing blood out of my nose. I noticed a strong odor last night and searching for the source I found that opening and that is where the smell is coming from. It is right at the side near my head. I wrapped the foam with a plastic bag and zipped it up but can still smell it lightly. My Mattress was purchased in 2004 The charge for replacing the bottom part of the mattress cover is $602.00 I don't need to replace the pillow top part it. It is zipped on just the bottom and sides of the mattress cover. I am angry and feel I over paid for a disposable Mattress. This is the second time I have had a problem with it first was the mold on the air chambers. They were replaced free of charge but I would bet the mold from the first problem is in the foam that remained. The bottom of the mattress isnt much thicker than a wet wipe to begin with. This bed has never left this room not been moved around no reason for it to come apart like it did just poor quality. I cant prove my NEW health problems are caused from this mattress but I can say I will never purchase another. We will see what I can find for under $600.00 to replace this nightmare. 20 year warranty is a joke. Sorry to post this to you Mike but for some reason it will not post a new comment.
We have had a sleep number for over 15 years now. Yes, it is the same mattress, foam, cover. We LOVE it! Once we found the firmness (I like a soft bed and my husband likes a hard bed) helped our backs more than we could ever imagine. Yes the foam that touched the air mattress has a bit of dark spots on it. The earlier version like ours had problems with some mold. I just open it up, spray it with Lysol, and let it air, once a year. It hasn't grown any more at all, or even bothered us, and I have allergies. The few spots are on the inside and enclosed anyway. I am told they have fixed that problem with the newer models. We hate to go on vacation anymore, because all the regular beds are such a disappoint after sleeping on a Sleep Number! Yes, it is expensive, but how much is a good nights sleep worth. After 15 years I can tell you it is worth every penny! When the time comes to get a new bed, we will definitely buy Sleep Number! (Oh- and neither my husband, or I work for them, or have family working for them, or benefit financially by their sales. Just in case someone thinks there is a ulterior motive for posting this.)
Agreed about hotel beds being a big disappointment after getting used to sleeping on your preferred number. We had a Sleep Number for 20 years and loved it. It was falling apart so we just got a Personal Comfort A8. We'll see how it goes, but so far it feels like a cloud.
This video was made back in 2011. The new, modern pumps don't make hardly ANY noise. Surprised about the air chambers? Our MODERN P5 sleeps like a dream. Please take this comment into consideration, when you modern folks think about trying out a Sleep Number bed.
My husband and I were at our local mall this past week looking at a sleep number bed. We were very convinced by the reps presentation, good think were not impulsive buyers. I'm glad we decided to look up reviews. Thank you for the video.
My husband and I have had our king size sleep number for 6 years and it has been a blessing for us. He had a heart attack 3 years ago and had to be on bed rest for quite a while. This bed was fabulous. I'm sorry you didn't like yours but it can be a Godsend after surgeries. Plus I was able to minimize my terrible backaches.
THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH! You just saved my hubby & me 1500.00!!! We were getting ready to purchase the C3 on Monday during their Labor Day sale, but not now! I am so happy that I found your video. Again, THANKS SO MUCH!!!!!!!!
I too bought a sleep number bed. I sleep alone, but there is no way two people could sleep on it. After awhile the bed developed a groove down the middle that nothing would fix (I even used 2x4s that I padded). It is a big waste of money!!
Thank you so much for making this video showing exactly what the sleep number bed is. I was going to go buy one today 7-20-13 when I decided to look on line first. You are a life saver as I am not a person with money. You just saved me a whole lot of heartache.
My motor gave out years ago on my sleep number bed; the thin foam sheet that lays on top of the airbags fell apart, the foam separator between the airbags never stays in place leaving an uncomfortable dip in the middle; and the sides started bulging out within a year of purchase even though I heeded the warning from the manufacturer about sitting too close to the edges of the bed. It’s kind of sad to spend so much money on a bed that you’re warned against sitting on. Over the 10 or so years I have owned my bed I have replaced pretty much every part of the “innards” except the airbags themselves. I can’t spend hundreds more to replace the broken motor which would have to be with a used one, since dear old sleep number doesn’t allow you to purchase parts separately for their beds. So, every night I unmake the end of my bed, unzip the top halfway, remove the foam pieces that cover the air valve area, and then I insert a bike pump, yes a bike pump, to re-inflate the airbags. Then put all the parts back and remake the end of the bed. The airbags have never held air well or for very long since the day I bought the bed, so you can imagine how much of life I have wasted by spending so much time over 10 long years constantly refilling the airbags (and guessing on the proper firmness). A much more apt name for this bed is the “LOL, Ripped You Off - It’s Nuthin’ But An Airbag” bed. I live on disability, due in part to degenerative disc disease so my checks don’t go far; certainly nowhere near far enough to ever afford replacing this bed, or any more of the worn, stained, or non-functioning parts like the motor; so I am not all pleased that I have probably done more injury to my back over the years of owning this bed by the effort required to keep it inflated.
I also didn't seek the Sleep Number to relieve back pain. I just started using it because it's what my wife had before we married. I thought I was just old and back pain was a part of getting old. My back pain went away immediately, getting out of bed in the morning became easy, and it's never, ever come back. I probably could have found other mattresses to do the same thing, but the Sleep Number got there first by circumstance. I like it. It's worked problem-free for many years.
They just took back our sleep number bed today. We could not sleep on that thing! I wish I had seen this video before going through the hassle. I hope more people see this. I've shared it on my facebook page to get it out there.
My mother has a sleep number bed in her guest room for about 9 years, and every time I come to visit, my husband and I have the best sleep. I have a memory foam bed at home and every morning I wake up in PAIN! That sucks that you don't like the sleep number bed, I love it.
Thank You! The wife and I are in the market for a new bed and was considering purchasing a sleep number bed from Craigslist then I watched your video, boy did we ever Dodge a bullet! I still can't get over the fact they sell that crap for thousands of dollars! Shit I should be getting royalty payments because I came up with the sleep number technology the first time we went camping in big bear 20 years ago! It all started with a crabby wife 2 air mattress and a thick pad! Presto! SLEEP NUMBER!
+brad thomson that is what the sleep number beds are made of, but before basing your decision on this FALSE video, you should go to a store and at least give it a shot for free. Try it before this is SLANDER if you don't like it then don't buy it, but don't go by what this "person" is saying
You are so right... wish we had seen this video before we bought it. Same issue... return policy and warranty are not worth the paper they are printed on...
I just saw the ad for the Sleep Number C3 year end clearance sale. Called my local store and was told the C3 is selling for $1200. I have an L5 disk injury and can't sleep in a conventional bed much anymore. I have to sleep in a reclining chair. But…I bought a $125 inflatable, adjustable air mattress AeroBed, Queen size, threw a memory foam 1.5 inch cover over it, and l sleep like a baby. Can adjust it anyway I like. This video you posted is exactly what I wanted to see. The C3 is only an air bed, surrounded by cheap foam, coverage by egg crate foam. Ha, ha! What a joke. That's how the salesmen make big bucks selling that thing. Thanks for posting that video. You just saved me $1200 plus tax. Going to buy a newer AeroBed for under $200 and set it inside my bed frame, just like Sleep Number Bed. Shouldn't cost more than another $100 to foam up the corners and roll memory foam over the top. Yipeee!
The foam is industrial grade as are the incredibly heavy and thick internal air bladders, tubes and pump. Yes, it's pricey. But it's not the same as Aerobed. (I have one of those too,)
Worst bed I have EVER slept on. This bed has jacked my back up even though I used their computor system to tell me my number. Our pump is different but is still loud. We have slept on it for about 8 years and honostly I cannot take another night of it.
My wife impulsively bought a SN bed while X-mas shopping in the mall. She has had many back issues over the last few years including two surgeries so if this bed helps her, it stays, but she spent over 3K on the mattress and still hasn't told me how much she got ripped on special bedding. I agree with, price doesn't warrant product and the guys who installed it, said they do break down and I need to remember pump up the bed each day to help it last longer. I prefer our older HQ traditional bed
The pump is quieter now and the combination of the air bladder and foam is why the sleep number bed is awesome. I am a truck driver that sits on the edge of the bed a lot to cook or just lounging around. I have popped so many coil springs because they are not designed for that purpose. I also had to put the pump a little further away from the bed due to my heater and fridge. Sleep Number sent me an extension hose free of charge.
I bought a sleep number bed about 4 years ago for my back pain. It did not help at all. I had to buy a topper at SAMs to make it more comfortable. About two years in the zipper broke. Now the foam bars won't stay in. I finally called for my warrantee and I have to pay another $450 to get the mattress cover replaced. That is over the $2700 we pay for it initiall. This mattress is not worth buying. It does not help my back pain, it made it worse. Just buy the topper. At Sam's and take a cruise with what you will save.
I was desperate fro my back - $6000 top of the line - Simply was not worth the money - Also you CAN'T return it before 30 days and you have to ship it back on your dime or have them come pick it up for $200 and the guy told me - they bring it back and throw it away -The bigger problem is the $2000 adjustable frame is non-refundable - and I mean YOUR STUCK WITH IT! The reason is because, and I quote: "They don't make it".
We have had the P-6 for about 7 years. It seemed to be OK for a long time, BUT..... lately it has been terrible! We have a Queen and I can feel it every time my husband moves and same for him feeling my movement. We called and replaced the foam topper and we can still feel it every time one of us moves......... We are light sleepers and it is very stressful and annoying... plus we don't get a good night's sleep.
Sleep number has changed a lot throughout the years. The pumps are very quiet now and the foams look better. I love my bed and can't see myself sleeping on anything else.
You ARE FANTASTIC!!! And thanks very much for the review, I was contemplating on how good these mattresses really are and after seeing your review I will not set foot in the store. You have over 75,000 viewers, look at how much potential business they have lost. I bet if they would have let you return it nice and easy they were much better off... Lesson to other retailers! Customer reviews go a long way!!!
I agree with everything you said.I have been on my camping trip with this piece of crap for several years. Then I opened it up to see why it was leaking and to my suprise mold had eaten through the air chamber.I was wondering why I have allergys so bad.May think of a law suit.
I had the bed for over 10 years and would never buy anything but sleep number, but I got to say everything she showed you in the mattress is true, but the way you will sleep in this bed is amazing. I had to replace the pump but even with a broken pump it still held its shape and never lost air. there's nothing like being able to control how your mattress sleeps, there're #1 in my book.
We had the same experience. The company wouldn't even return our calls. When they sent out the so called 'installers' they came in a rented van and appeared to be two guys from a day labor site. They pounded SO hard on the bed frame before they placed it on our metal frame that it put a crack in the first floor living room ceiling and a big crack in the wall. Would NEVER purchase a bed from sleep number again. What a rip off - and once they sell it to you for a few thousand dollars you are dead to them!
I just ordered a "Special Edition" SN bed on QVC. I mentioned it to a co-worker today (2Jan), and he almost screamed at me to cancel it, lol! He bought one about three years ago, and the pump broke twice! I saw all the other negative reviews online, and I wish I had seen them before I ordered. I hope they can cancel it with the vendor in time!
Wish I'd seen this video before I bought mine. I paid double the price and the mattress slides around on the base and off to one side over the edge of the base. And the modular base is now leaning on the side I sleep on (no I'm not 200 lbs) with less than 2 years of use (this actually started much earlier). Customer service at both SleepNumber and QVC were extremely unhelpful. They actually told me to use a rug grip mat from *Walmart* underneath the mattress to stop it sliding. Totally unacceptable solution for a $4K bed! Incidentally, I did try it and it worked temporarily, until the friction and movement from getting in and out of bed every day gradually worked the mat completely out from under the mattress. Like in the video, I bought a "special edition" which apparently means it's a unicorn and none of the standard warranties or fixes for the same problems on other models will work on this one. It's been almost two years and I'm STILL trolling around for ways to fix it. I bought mine in January, 2016 so don't think that since this vid was made in 2011 that time has necessarily improved them. I have read the glowing reviews. Great. Speaking from my own experience, however, I 100% regret buying from SleepNumber and do not recommend them at all. If you insist on it anyway, PLEASE buy directly from a free-standing store and not from a third-party retailer like QVC. And make sure not to buy a "special edition" model.
1) they don’t make c3 anymore 2) the air pump isn’t loud at all 3) at my local sleep number store they show you the inside so you know what your buying 4) your air chambers aren’t working correctly because you have your mattress on what appears to be a box spring (they clearly tell you not to use one)
all about sales tactic and pressure. I visited a sleep number store while shopping for bed. Asked them if they can open the zipper so i can see inside. The salesperson said they are not allowed to do it in the showroom. Big question mark here.
I to bought a sleep number for my then pregnant wife. I got the P5 I think it was. MY BACK IS killing me and so is my wife's. I thought It might be just our bed, but I told my brother to get one and now his lower back is killing him when he wakes up, so it's definitely the bed. Good on you for making the vid. I regret ever calling that number! Good luck to you in the future and again, thanks for making the video!
Sadly if you watch their website the stuff is always on sale. All these sale prices are considered "special edition pricing" its how they get around doing ANY returns
I purchase one from QVC about 18 years ago because of back pain I had. Because you can adjust it to your liking it worked for me. Initially when my back hurt it would take weeks to recover but after purchasing the bed within a few days I felt better. I did add a memory foam topper because I didn’t like the feel of the cover. It worked for me. When I moved five years ago I gave it to my cousin who also has back issues. He loved it as well. I have since purchased one of the 360 versions and I’d have to say it’s not the same. I did have to buy a mattress topper for this one as well. It’s doable but is not as comfortable as the old one I had. I’ve tried so many mattresses. It shouldn’t be so hard to find one that’s comfortable.
Scary. We nearly purchased one as well. They are so expensive. Only thing that kept us from buying it was, well the price had us dragging our feet. Ended up getting an Innomax air bed instead due to a youtube video showing the actual insides of sleep numbers and the innomax. We've had it for a couple years now. If I recall our 'medallion' was equivalent to the i7 or i8 and those are 6 grand for a sleep number. OUCH. Ours was thousands less!
We have had a Sleep Number for 2 years now and it has been the best bed we've ever owned! We just gave birth to our first Son and my wife experienced no trouble sleeping or any soreness which we relate directly to the Sleep Number. We haven't opened ours up to see how it's made, but it's the best sleep we've ever had (they seem to be MUCH quieter now).
Very disappointed in Sleep Number's (after sale) policy! My bed began sinking in the middle after sleeping on it 45 days. When I called customer service, I was told that I would be charged $175.00 for a technician to come to my home - just to find out what the problem was. I will NOT be buying another Sleep Number bed!!
I had one those electric heating pads with low/medium/high thermostat. One day I grab it and stretched under the mattress with the thermostat hanging out. The winter’s nights were never the same. Even in ‘low’ (those pads turn automatically on and off to keep the temperature steady) the heat would rise warming the air inside the mattress and then you to an unbelievable soothing temperature.
I had my for more then thirteen years and I bought it in USA when I was living there with my wife. At the time I think it was called Sleep Confort. After so many years my bed finally start loosing pressure during the night although the two pump controls (which are corded) and the pump machine are still working flawless. When nothing else, it was years of sleeping beauty rest! It is in my plans to buy a new one on the next trip to the States. Can´t find it here in Brazil.
at least they give you a 60 day money back guarantee. I've been to their store recently as I wanted to purchase one. None of the pumps were even audible. I guess they saw your video and corrected the problem :)
Stephanie- I CANT AGREE MORE!!! Wait till you see mine when it's finished as I bought the best $5000 bed offered. Total ripoff! The only time I didn't do my homework. Sleep Number is all smoke & mirrors and get away with selling aerobeds only not as good as the aerobed. I was so happy to see your RUclips video. Great job! Hope to talk with you someday on how to warn the masses ?!
My wife and I have had one for years. It may be that all there is to it is egg crate, a couple of air mattresses and some foam around the outside layer, plus the compressor and hoses and the controls. But, it does everything it says it does. Sleep Number never claimed not to be simply/cheaply constructed. But ours has lasted 10 years and should last another ten. That's $100 a year for good sleep. If you can find a better deal, by all means, take advantage of it.
this video was made 2 years ago. i just received my c2 sleep number last week i couldnt walk i had such bad back pain. my first night sleeping in this bed my back pain is gone and i got the best sleep of my life. i also got the cool fit foam layer to put on top. definitely a great investment. and there is no loud noise when i change the number.
I bought a P6 a few years ago. I too am disappointed. My main complaint is that I bought the dual mattress version. As a result of the design I have a valley in the middle of the bed. The two mattresses do not come together. There's about a 6 inch gap in the middle. Sleep Number gives you a piece of foam to fill in the gap. It is way too soft and does not do the job. I could have bought a good mattress for about half of what I paid and been happier.
By the way, I used to have mild low grade back pain all the time and went through a fair number of mattresses before using the Sleep Number. The only way I could avoid the back pain was to only sleep about six hours a night. The pain was caused by regular mattresses. Since I've started with the Sleep Number, I've never had even a hint of back pain and now I get to sleep in!!! I am in no way affiliated with Sleep Number and I was totally skeptical about it to begin with.
I have a Sleep Number bed and LOVE it!! The bed is made of four components: Air chamber, Air pump, Foam, and Base. The air chamber is made of 27-gauge vulcanized rubber which holds up to 1000 lbs and also has individual siphons that contour to the High pressure areas of your body (YOUR CAMPING AIR MATTRESS DOES NOT!), The air pump doesn't actually sound like, this one there is no noise, so you definitely have a customer service issue or you have a Vacuum turned on in the background. LUCKY for you the bed has a 25 year pro-rated warranty so you can easily fix that issue. The Foam in the c3 is regular polyurethane foam, WHICH is NOT proprietary to Sleep Number it is a regular foam used in most foam layered beds, the foam creates a traditional pillow-top feel. Sleep Number also has a Memory Foam option. The Fourth and final component is the Base, which is just a platform to Support the Air Chamber and works as a box-spring. Stefanie, it sounds like you didn't ask the sleep associate at the store enough questions, because when I did they told me all of this and when I fact checked online it was true, they even have the #1 rated best bed in a leading consumer report. The ugly truth is that in there 9 million customers 2% go a different direction in there 100 night trial. Sorry for your misfortune.
I also have a Sleep Number bed and absolutely hate it. The air pump does indeed sound like that and despite what the air chambers are made of, they are essentially just an air mattress. I have not had a decent night of sleep since owning this colossal waste of money. The foam around the edges has broken down, giving the bed an odd shape.
Kristin Martin Your Sleep Number bed has a twenty-five year pro-rated warranty so you can get those issues fixed and even get a new pump that doesn't sound like a rocket ship.
We have had our Sleep Number for 5 years. We love ours. So far no issues. Cost was high, we bought the adjustable base. Our bed is very quiet. Went to Sleep Number from a Tempur Pedic we hated. My brother also bought his Tempur Pedic same time as I. He sleeps in a recliner he hates his so much.
Ny husband and I just purchased our SECOND sleep number bed. The only reason we needed a new mattress was that my husband's health has not been good and I see the day coming soon when we will need a hospital bed. Instead we purchased a sleep number flex bed with a P6 split king mattress. LOVE IT. Never had a problem with the first one or this one. We bought the first one 12 years ago for $2500 (their best seller at the time). $2000 for a bed in 2011 is really cheap, expecially for a sleep number. I'm sure you told were told about the no return on this sale but either didn't listen or chose to ignore it. Everything you complained about is demonstrated at the store. If you had paid attention, or at least tested everything you now don't like in the store, your problems could have been avoided. Also the quality of the air mattress is MUCH better than in a regular air mattress and Sleep Number does stand behind their products. We have a 20 year warranty on the flex frame and mattress.
I am returning my C2 CalKing. We bought it because he wants a firm mattress and I want soft. Sleeping on it was ok, but cuddling/spooning was impossible because there is a very firm bump dividing the 2 sides of the bed. My boyfriend calls my side a "taco" because at sleep # 30 I sink into it. I hate this bed.
Dreaklock still enjoying that tempurpedic? Bc I dropped $5k on one of the top of the line models and it was a piece of shit, super uncomfortable, started sagging in the first year or two, the mattress weighs a thousand lbs making it awesome to transport when you move, and then for the icing on the cake, it basically radiates heat against u while you sleep (or try to). After that fail I jumped on board sleep # and I’m much much much happier and more comfortable
Got a sleep number bed 2 weeks ago slept on it for those 2 weeks, first night back pain thinking I needed a new number second night back pain third night back pain but still try to give it a go, got sick of it, got sick of being in pain when I woke up so I just box it up yesterday waiting for a truck to pick it up, back in my old mattress that I kept lucky me and no back pain. Everyones different some people love it others hate it and I take it I'm one of those people that hate it, it's not right for me. Everyone's body is like a fingerprint we are all unique, in the end it's not worth, not worth $2000 up. I slept on a $500 mattress before and felt more comfortable to me. If you wanna gamble be my guest. Just throwing in my two cent.
Thanks for the post, I was about to drop $4500 on a king size flex fit adjustable. That is just insane to think they didn't want to refund it after such a short period of time.
Think that's bad? 12 years ago I bought the top of the like split King. The mattress (the top part and sides, not the air bag) has failed. The top is crushed and sags in the middle and the foam sides are bulging out. I was told by the customer service department that this bed is no longer available. They refused to give me an equivalent (or anyother) bed as a replacement. My 20 year warranty is of no value after 12 years. By the way, that 20 year warranty gets prorated after 3 years, so don't expect full coverage after that point. Oh, did I mention that I spent $5700.00 for the bed? That right! THINK LONG AND HARD BEFORE BUYING A SELECT COMFORT PRODUCT.
i have a sleep number that i wouldn't take anything for! the pump that i have is whisper quiet... i can't ever tell when my husband adjusts his side. i have never gotten such a good nite's sleep as i have been getting for the past 5 yrs on my select comfort bed! thx sleep number!!!!
i've slept on my sleep number bed for 6 years & my back is so much better for it. I didn't buy one of the lower end mattresses because I didn't find them comfortable enough, but went for the second from the top of the line. I'm sorry she is so unhappy with her bed. However, there is plenty of opportunity to try the various models out in the store to determine which model works for you or, in fact, if any of them do. If not, just pass & go find a different kind of mattress somewhere else. Or, If the noise from the pump is so annoying, why buy it to begin with? As for the return policy, we got ours so long ago I don't remember the details. But the bottom line is why would anyone spend this much money on a product they weren't absolutely positive they wanted? Don't trash the company if you didn't test things out adequately before buying. If you are this unhappy with it, then the company should take the mattress back & let you make an exchange or receive a refund. And, in my opinion, if this is true, then it's really the only valid point in this video.
Consumer reports says there's absoulutly no difference from the more expensive sleep number to the cheaper one except foam is just a little bigger. They put it through major test and they both pretty came out with the same outcome and in some cases the cheaper one was preferred. I'm looking for a new mattress also but I think I will pass on this.
If you think this is bad try a Simmons Posturepedic for $1999.00 less than a year ago and I have a very bad back from a car accident years ago. We recently got a sleep number bed for the spare room and it's like heaven. All the swelling in my legs is totally gone in less then a week. There is no real answer to beds in today's world and no company seems to back up the bad ones. I am happy with our sleep number bed and we just ordered a King for the Master.
Elaine Gray Well I had them both a Simmons and a Posturepedic so maybe you should learn to read... and neither one was worth the money I spent on them so if you have that kind of money to spend then your more then welcome to waste your money and you really don't know who I am or what I do for a living so your comment has been forwarded.l .
WOW, thank you so much. You saved us a lot of money, not speaking the frustration we would have with this junk. We were quoted more expensive model for the flexible bottom. Of course, the sales rep didn't even mention the less expensive option, I had to find it out on the Internet. I feel so bad for you that you got stuck with the bad bed. Keep complaining about them, it is not too late. BBB or Attorney General could help you. They both helped me when some stores didn't honor their policies.
We bought a sleep number bed. Have had it for 6 days. I totally agreed with the comments on how horrible the beds are. Totally terrible. Poor construction. Outrageous price for what you get. We called to have it sent back and they want $199 to come pick it up. They will refund my purchase but not the $170 to deliver it and $199 to pick it up. Almost $400 wasted even if they do refund the bed price. I would not recommend anyone buy a sleep number bed. The video shows exactly what you get for the huge amount of money you spend.
OMG!! Rip off company has been EXPOSED!! Thanks for shedding light on this mattress. They make it seem like the best mattress ever in the commercials. And to think I was considering buying this... :P
That bed is actually the classic series special edition bed which was a promotional bed that came with a one time exchange only in 45 days. That foam is actually not egg crate foam, its flat and ventilated. That mattress pad is actually optional, she seems to like it though. The pumps are not noisy anymore, all beds come with a whisper quiet pump now. People should experience the bed for themselves at a Sleep Number store and form their own opinion. This video is over 1 year old.
Have one myself and I hate it! I've been sleeping on it for 5 years and the reason that I have not gotten rid of it is because I hate to admit that I wasted my money.
Makes no difference how old her post is. She is still getting the word out.Its still the same company and little has changed with their mattress. Or how they treat you when you have one of their problem beds in your home. My experience is recent. I threw away mine after 11 years and am sleeping on a Wal-Mart mattress I bought it as a temp while we decide what we want to try next. We are in no hurry to replace the new one.
I feel so sorry for Stefanie. And I so happy for the people that may have been saved from her experience by her energetic and dramatic video. Anyone buying a new bed owes it to themselves to actually read the Consumer Reports tests and note that their top rated innersprings, are all foam/hybrids. One is all latex/innerspring. Nothing could be better and that is why 80% of all people do not sleep on anything else despite the phony reviews for the memory foams and air bags.
I bought my c2 a couple months ago. I wasn't told when I purchased that it was an air mattress. It makes perfect sense mind you, but I was shocked to find that that's how it was done. I love the bed. I agree that the padding and such seem poor, but I sleep so much better and feel even better than I was. My issue is that if you have uneven flooring, your bed will not hold up to it, meaning, it slides off. I didn't get the framing (I can't afford it) but I don't think that the foam and mattress should slip as much as it does each night, even with my fixing it in the morning. As for comfort, I find that it is very comfortable, and has helped me sleep better, and feel better. I just wish that they would come up with something to help with aging houses that don't have floors that are level (like adjustable legs) and maybe do something with the sides, or give us a little lip to keep the foam in (like a box spring type thing). Those are my only issues with the bed. Those that sell other products/company's shouldn't bash this one, they should just pitch their products, and be done, don't belittle people for their choices, because it's not very becoming.
Shawn, might I suggest an easy fix your problem? If I had that problem I would use a level and raise the low side and determine how much you need to raise it. Then you, or have someone else, make a wooden block to put under each leg on that side leveling the bed. Hope this helps with your problem!
Hi Brad, Yes, actually we are going to do this. We did raise it a little and it helped some, but I worry about the raisers that I have under the bed slipping. I like a high bed, I am 6' tall, but I don't want the raisers or the bed legs to slip.. it would be long fall. LOL
So, we got up under the bed, and put a leveler there... and everywhere we put that, the leveler said the bed was level. No idea why it's still falling off the bed frame. Ended up getting something and strapping the mattress down.. sad that I had to do that with a $3000.00 bed!!
Gotta love it when you're told it's an air mattress before you buy it and you buy it anyway. Then you decide to complain that it's an air mattress and costs too much because that's basically what it is.
Ditsy didn't realize that it's an air mattress? Demonstrating the poor quality by making squish squish noises while squeezing her hands on the mattress?
How sad that people are bashing this woman because she is showing what this company is really selling. We went to sleep number last week and tried out their beds , honestly I could not even tell when they were adjusting it . I felt no difference from the hard bed we laid on when we first laid down and when it was adjusted down to a 30. The only bed that felt different was the i8 because it had a pillow top. And it cost $5,700.00 and that was after the $500.00discount! I don't think any air mattress is worth that kind of money. But that's my opinion.
I just purchased a I10 with a $2000 adjustable base - That's TOP of the line $5300 worth - the only thing different is there is approx 5 inches more foam - SAME air mattress - My wife and I simply don't like it so return it, 30 days no risk - haha... make sure you ask the right questions. It is a MANDATORY 30 days before you can return it - and the adjustable base - not returnable, and I quote "because we don't make it, we just sell it"! But the pump is quiet....
I too bought a sleep number. It felt great in the store when they have you lying on your back and adjusting it while you watch a screen above you show your pressure points in infrared. The beds are somewhat comfy lying on your back. I, however, do not sleep on my back. The dual chamber mattress will make you roll toward the center no matter what setting you put it on. Way over priced. I bought a pillow top mattress that is 10 times more comfy for about $20 less.
I work for sleep number and can tell you that this bed is 10 years old at least. Our remotes and pumps are totally different now. Our foams are top of the line, and our fabrics are selected for not only comfort, but durability. Our new systems are very quiet and a lot of research and development goes into ensuring that our valued customers enjoy the best sleep possible. I personally bought and paid for sleep number beds to go in every bedroom at my home. Not to mention the 100 day trial!
not sure i would call "luxfit" foam top of line but it is a good product. The i10 model is a good product. In my opinion the comfort layer should be an inch thicker but other that the i10 is good and more than likely the only one i would invest in. The Luxfit's density of the 5 inch comfort layer ( 2 Lbs on the first two inches and 3 Lbs the other 3 inches) on the M9 model is a joke.
SLEEP NUMBER PAY her OFF she is costing you MILLIONS!
Mike Smith stop faking sleep number is paying you to say that to that lady she's not lying she's keeping it real you lying you work for them
Man man clearly you didn't read his comment. He said pay her off because this video is costing them money. Smh
Please actually read what I said! Like SEAN said..................
Sandy is doing the public a favor. You should read another even clearer review by Andrew Esquivel.
+Rodney McVey your lies are making me sick
Just do a couple shots... You'll feel/sleep much better.
speaking truths here, the new pump makes almost no noise.
correct very silent.
Got ours a year or so ago. Very noisy!. Company would not respond. Asked for $350 immediately if they came out to check on the noise.

I had the C2 in my cart...not anymore! your video was the one and only thing that stopped me! thank you!
Thanks for the video, I was contemplating on buying a sleep number mattress, just for the sound alone I wont buy it anymore.
I read a bunch of reviews but watching this video brought it home. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you. You just saved me a shit load of money. These companies and their unethical selling tactics. Smh.
(I have one of those too,)
TastyTacoBoy
They are junk. You will regret buying one.
CAVEAT EMPTOR... "Let the buyer Beware".. I was looking to buy this mattress.. Now I have second thoughts..Thanks for the tip Stef..
Their warranty is a joke! Everyone should see this!
If only more consumers were like this. Great review.
God Bless this brave lady! She is a hero to all the people ripped off by this unethical company.
No. Actually there are still significant problems. Sounds like you are one of the lucky ones who got a quiet bed that worked.
And make sure not to buy a "special edition" model.
thanks for sharing your thoughts. I found too many other complaints on this mattress so I will move on.
Thanks so much for sharing this. We were going to get one this weekend. I'm glad I saw this. This video just cost them another sale.
I totally agree but between the mattess and the platform which is falling apart cost us almost 10000
Falling apart? Do tell.
1) they don’t make c3 anymore
2) the air pump isn’t loud at all
3) at my local sleep number store they show you the inside so you know what your buying
4) your air chambers aren’t working correctly because you have your mattress on what appears to be a box spring (they clearly tell you not to use one)
all about sales tactic and pressure.
Thanks for this video! It really convinced me that this is a HELL NO!
Thank you for your video. Upon watching this video and lots of consideration I canceled my order today!
Wow Thank you! A friend of mines just said the same thing! I was thinking of buying one this weekend
I was interested in a Sleep Number at one point. But common sense kicked in and I went with Tempurpedic. Good choice!
Just throwing in my two cent.
thanks for the heads up. I want one and will look at the good and bad before I buy..
Just went through the same thing! It is horrible how they rip people off with these delivery charges. I am so sorry we tried this bed :(
Oh, also it looses pressure and the displays numbers on the controls stopped working.
It's no wonder why the sleep number store in the mall closed.
Great review. Thanks for letting us hear the air pump!!!
Thanks for the heads up! My wife wanted one but this helped me convince her to keep looking for a real mattress!
I've been sleeping on it for 5 years and the reason that I have not gotten rid of it is because I hate to admit that I wasted my money.
mattress by appointment does this. They got me for $1400. And of course they tell me my bed is fine and don't except returns.
Thanks for sharing... my husband and I have thought about getting one. We will look into other beds instead.
Hi Brad,
Yes, actually we are going to do this. We did raise it a little and it helped some, but I worry about the raisers that I have under the bed slipping. I like a high bed, I am 6' tall, but I don't want the raisers or the bed legs to slip.. it would be long fall. LOL
Elaine Gray do you know what the name of them is? :)
Then you decide to complain that it's an air mattress and costs too much because that's basically what it is.
your lucky you got to return it. i hate mine and did a review as well.
thanks for sharing! saves a lot of people a loss of money
Thank you. I almost purchased one. You just saved me a whole lot of cash.
Ditsy didn't realize that it's an air mattress? Demonstrating the poor quality by making squish squish noises while squeezing her hands on the mattress?
thenk you so much! you saved me a lot of money, because i was saving to buy one
Thank you for this video ! Here is one potential customer they lost !
Thanks for the video. Was seriously thinking about purchasing one. I wouldn’t have the piece of crap if they tried to give it to me now.
Thank you for saving me money. I almost bought one until I saw this review.
Thank you very much. We were about to buy one today on Memorial day sale. But after seeing this video we have dropped the idea like a hot brick.
I am so happy that you not only took the time to make the video, you actually got thru to them about refunding your mo ey.
The Luxfit's density of the 5 inch comfort layer ( 2 Lbs on the first two inches and 3 Lbs the other 3 inches) on the M9 model is a joke.
according to UPS they get hundreds of call from angry customers? Why?
I have had a cal king for about 10 years and love it, and we bought ours used. Great bed for me.
