After seeing all that Scarlet and Violet has to offer, I really only have one takeaway. That the Pokemon team isn't running out of ideas and have plenty of passion. But simply need much more time to actually put out a finished product. I think if the game was allowed to have another year or 2 in development, it could've turned out much better. Here's to hoping that one day, Pokemon isn't treated like a cash cow, and is allowed to receive the time it needs to truly be great again.

I agree. I can tell how it was rushed due to the glitches and bugs this game is littered with. Plus a smaller thing I noticed is that the newer shines aren't the best either(some are great but I wish they would have put more into tinkatink line and ceruledge). Like even in sheild, the new pokemon shines had more variety it seamed. I dunno, I didn't feel like they had time to do anything else other than making sure the players walked on solid ground most of the time. I know that it sold well but I hope the dlc doesn't sell as well as the games did and learn that it was mostly because it was a rushed game. If I known it was rush, I wouldn't have bought it or saved it for when it got fixed.

The thing is, they have the ability to improve with sheer numbers. They intentionally keep the team working on pokemon the size of a large indie dev. When the company finally hired new people and doubled the dev teams size, they promptly put all the new people on pokemon and moved all the old ones onto a new project. They have the money to upsize but upsizing means less profits to share around so they just won't do it.

To answer your question about how to pronounce Mismagius, some Pokémon names are split between the community over how to pronounce, like how with Rayquaza most people say “Ray-qwa-zuh” but because it’s name is based of “Quasar” correct pronunciation is “Ray-qway-zuh”.
Anyways Mismagius personally I pronounce “Mis-Mage-ee-uhs” because it looks like a mage with the big hat

You should have added that your pokemon gets to pick it's moves. Like if you ask it if it wants to learn a certain move and it says no, you can't learn it again. If it says yes, you must replace the move it wants.
Update: I got to the point where that's a thing hello rule 33. But honestly, I wish more people used this method for their playthroughs. I did somewhat as I like the idea of giving my Pokemon more personalities. But I sometimes say yes or no to their suggestions. Most of the time, they are in sync with me and we are both thinking yes for the move and what move we want to get rid of.. it can be kinda scary.

This is a perfect example of too many restrictions. You've diluted down thr challenge to such a degree that almost all autonomy is out of it. You can't switch mons, you need to be stuck eith what you have, forced to fight everything. There's almost no strategy other then luck because every decision you might actually make has a rule preventing it

the fact that the rules (as of starting the run) required 2 minutes of explanation has me hooked already. gave the video a like just off of that, and i'm sure this will be good
edit: after watching a good chunk of this video, i think i agree w/ chat on the mareanie decision. it does fully feel like a 50/50 split on what color it is, which would make it NOT primarily purple. and toxapex hands down is mostly blue imo. also, good choice to not go based on dex color classifications cause some of the pokemon they list as certain colors genuinely make no sense. for example, shellos and gastrodon (f) as well as bounsweet steenee and tsareena are all purple pokemon. steenee and tsareena are pink at best since imo they're primarily green, gastrodon is clearly pink and brown, and shellos and bounsweet are inarguably just pink.

  • @BriarBeeBenson
    @BriarBeeBenson Год назад +1

For rules I liked, I personally liked the rule that banned any use of a newly caught Pokémon if it shares a type with a Pokémon currently in your party. It’s a pretty solid rule in game like Scarvi because it’s so open and you can go literally anywhere you want. It raises the stakes, forces you to make your team diverse and also might make you explore the other areas early in an attempt to get a unique typed encounter which is a risk because areas don’t scale with levels but could pay off in the long run and be a decision which makes or breaks an attempt.
And in regards to encounters, if you ever Nuzlocke Scarvi again, I personally would have them determined by a randomiser. As in you input all of the pokemon in that area into one of those spin the wheel randomisers (and exclude Pokémon that are exempt in your rule set like psuedo legendaries for example) and whatever Pokémon it picks is the one you go looking for. That means you spend a lot less time getting frustrated with being unable to encounter any Pokémon at all like in the West Paldean Sea, and you don’t have your encounter messed up by a random Pokémon just running headfirst into you or bs frame drops or some other unfair thing happening due to poor optimisation. And you get more time exploring the actual area and being able to take it all in.
In addition to this you might also get a pretty rare or unusual Pokémon which means you actually have to go hunting for it. With the way you did encounters in this challenge there were a lot of Pokémon you could have never encountered like Applin which actually has a pretty cool spawn location but with the randomiser wheel you could have gotten lucky, went hunting for it and then be pleasantly surprised by such a neat little detail, which I think is pretty important if you’re experiencing a game for the first time. I feel like this woule streamline how nuzlocke encounters work in this specific game and definitely save you a lot of headache if you keep having to restart the challenge.
I also liked how you didn’t do level caps, I feel like a level cap for this kind of challenge would have dragged it out and would have been pretty cruel, espeically if you’re going into the game blind. I personally also didn’t go to Katy nor the Flying titan until much later in the game because I explored the whole east side of the map first. For some nuzlockers that could end an entire attempt because of how Scarvi is designed with no set path and it would also lock you into doing a set path which goes against the whole vibe of the game.
As for anything else, I really do feel like for long, complicated challenges like this I think it’s important to either be lenient on, amend or scrap rules that cause excessive frustration, mainly to just prevent burnout or stress. Like the grass-type rule, the super effective rule, the ‘first pokemon sent out must be the opposite gender to the assumed gender of the trainer’ rule (which is such a huge mental load oh my god) and especially the torment rule. I feel like rules in challenges like this can very quickly go from challenging but fun to just cruel and unreasonable.
Especially since streamers are not only y’know playing the game with ridiculous self-imposed rules already, but you’re also adding commentary, are on camera the entire time AND you’re consciously interacting with your chat for hours upon hours at a time. Like yeah maybe in a pre recorded run that’s then edited and uploaded it could maybe be okay? But tbh until I became friends with a streamer and became his main artist, I had absolutely no idea just HOW much multitasking goes into streaming and how mentally exhausting having to keep all of that up for hours at a time can be. And I don’t think people in a twitch chat quite know how huge of a mental load that is either.
As someone who experiences brainfog and now knows this, I inwardly cringed every single time a rule came up that relied entirely on your working memory AND muscle memory not making any mistakes, which imo is just unfair and isn’t fun to watch. I just ended up feeling bad for you.
I mean, at that point that rule is punishing you for… doing your job and interacting with your chat rather than for spamming moves like protect, torch song or flower trick to game the system. If the chat really wanted to prevent you from spamming set up moves like that then the rule should have been you can’t use the same move 3 times in a row or you can’t use a set up move twice in a row. That means you’re actually getting punished for a more conscious choice rather than random button mashing and it seems more fair and less frustrating.

I think the reason you were happy about the absent Poison Jab with Clavell is the same reason you were upset with missing Recover with Eri. The attack was ordered on a pokemon that is no longer there which I guess includes attacks performed on yourself during that specific round. You would think the attack order would rollover with the incoming pokemon but fainting leaves an empty slot and will eat up any remaining moves ordered on said fainted pokemon's slot. Like in some pkmn games it comes in the form of missing the attack (the attack missed!) or failing the attempt (But it failed!), the target is gone thus your move is as well. It could be because both scenarios were followed with cutscenes that the information about the nullification order never made it to you. Also in both scenarios the opposing pokemon fainted because of secondary effects from the rocky helmet, which can mess with the attack order (in unpolished games).I think attack order is different for each game due to the specific coding of encounter methods that vary from title to title like hordes from X&Y and chains from S&M/USUM and this generation's unique methods. I could be very wrong though (: Or its probably that and because the game runs like a n64 port and couldn't communicate an attack order bc cutscenes make the Switch sweat. tbh letting you keep poison jab kinda balances with eating your recover lol Great video btw, super creative and interesting with the dynamic rule system. thank you!

As much as I see you were clearly frustrated in the heat of the moment, I regret to inform you that what you were showing @8:00 are in fact, _not cutscenes._ Those are nothing but Overworld interactions. *_Cutscenes_* are fully animated scenes that the game _'cuts' away to,_ in order to show a dramatic story moment. Think of the ending scene of each Route (Team star's final gathering, defeating Nemona in her climactic battle, and everything else like that)ー
_Those_ are what I imagine the game is referring game is referring to, as it takes from the _actual_ definition of the word: "Cutscene." (õ∀ó )ゝ

If you need to press A to progress the dialogue, you're not in a cutscene.
    That is the standard.
