Allen how far away are you from painted Desert Ranch
I bred paints Alan. A pinto is non registered. An Overo means the color doesn't cross over the butt or withers, like the horse they used in the movie Hidalgo. Tobiano paint is what Rowdy is, see how his color goes up and over his shoulders and butt. Your right on the fact that if he is a homozygous, whatever he's bred to, he will throw color. Of course just because he throws color, doesn't mean he'll have good confirmation etc. he's a little thick thru the neck, watch for founder. I wouldn't feed any super hot feed (too rich) anyway, hope this helps. Blessings to my farm family 🙌 Jennifer
I noticed the thickness on the neck too
@@debbieelliott7471 Yeah, it looks a little crusty, hope he hasn't foundered in the past.
❤️
He is a stallion and 15 year's old!! The neck is normal in my opinion. I saw older breeding stallion's who had such a neck.
Jennifer, except the American Saddlebred registry has pinto as a color, not paint. So it may be up to different breeds for the color registry.
There are many ways to “rescue” a horse, including gelding a lonely stallion. It truly is a lonely life. He’s anxious and pacing, and chances are he’s never been used for breeding. If you tried him on one of your mares, chances are, you’d “awaken the beast” in him, and his sweet nature might disappear. A good stallion prospect, makes a great gelding. I’d geld him before spring to avoid mares in heat, and before fly season so he doesn’t have pests all over the incision.
Ann Peterson, excellent suggestions!
I totally agree with you 💯
That Paint is absolutely STUNNING!!! Gosh, he is gorgeous. 🙏❤️🐴
Look at his neck! Way to deep!
He’s gorgeous!! ❤️
APHA , reg. paint horses are basically quarter horses mixed with a white pattern . If he’s not registered he’s a pinto , and his color is Tobiano . Those paw prints though ❤. Usually a dead giveaway for the homozygous gene . I bet he’s from registered stock .
I bet he is register stock, maybe when the Momma died 😔 they were so busy raising him they didnt find the time to register him! He's super nice looking and breeding him to Dutchess would make a fine baby❤ there's alot of wonderful horses out there that aren't registered.👍
Man! Is he ever a handsome boy!
He does have attractive coloring and would be gorgeous under saddle which would most likely make him easier to rehome!
No so easy to rehome a 15 year old untrained stallion, regardless of his beauty! A shame he's been neglected before Alan got him! A real dilemma!
You said that Rowdy was a big boy, but at the end ov the video when you are panning the pasture horses, he is HUGE in the background! Dwarfs everyone else. I would be really uncomfortable with the way he's pacing and worry that he's going to try to get to those mares one way or another. Loved that the palomino found such a good home with a lot of joy & love.
He is Beautiful
He’s a beautiful stallion.
You guys are so cute you remind me of a couple of Highschool kids LOL
That stallion is a beautiful boy Alan, I think he and Duchess would produce a beautiful baby together, and I am so happy that the palomino mare has found a new home too, tfs x Julie 🇬🇧
OMG I have never seen a paint with those markings, gorgeous. The kids and snow too funny! I'm watching this early a.m. on 02/22/23 hope we all survive this storm, wind is howling and sleet falling. My husband is an equipment repair tech for ADOT and they were scrambling yesterday to make sure the plows were ready to go. Stay safe. 🙏🐴👍
This storm is crazy!!!!
@@TheFarmonRoute66 Hold your hat on, I-40 has been shut down. Doc is on his way into work in Holbrook. Stay safe guys.
Howdy, Rowdy! 🐎❤️
He’s beautiful , get him trained and all dolled up, something that beautiful would definitely find a home !
Rawdy is a big beautiful Horse. His color is great. ♥
Rowdy is pretty, bet he would throw some pretty babies. But getting a trainer to work with him would be beneficial. 💖
I laughed at the kids making snow angels. Been a long time, but I remember doing the same when I was young. 💖💖💖
As an old dog judge, I only know their qualifications. Horse are up to you but he sure is impressive!!!!!! Good luck.
Have you ever thought about raising hay in one of the fields 🤔? That one grass seed, you said , we have planted on our ranch for hay. Our livestock love it.
We have thought about that we just don't have the equipment to Bale it
@@TheFarmonRoute66 Could you hire someone to bale it, or would that be too expensive, and not cost effective?
We cut an aged stallion that was so gentle and could ride. We never expected the change in his demeanor. He went from sweet and gentle to a horse you couldn't do anything with. Never had that happen before. God Bless 💕💕💕
Sandy, yes that is an unusual reaction, I think so too. Curious why he was gelded if he had such a calm personality.
Wow.
@@aileen694 Well---just take your average, All American 50-year-old MAN, and ask HIM: "Say, how would you feel about having your testicles cut off this week?" and then see what happens.
He’s a beautiful horse.
Gorgeous horse❤
Pancho y Pancha nombres súper españoles, diminutivos de Francisco y Francisca jajaja. Sus vecinos conservan muchas raíces de 💃🇪🇸
I NEED him!! Seriously! He’s the perfect size and age for what I need!!

P.S...Love to all💚
send him to amry for training.... she does a wonder job.
His thick makes me think some Morgan in him. Beautiful
Loved the Snow angels portion ! What fun ! Thank all of you for providing vicarious experiences for an old, partially cabin bound single lady who loves Horses, but never owned one. Yeah, I live in Texas, was married twice - but neither of the husbands were horse people. BUT ... a girl can still 'dream' ! Loved the Pony-Express experience ! GREAT VIDEO COVERAGE, GIRLS !
I'm like you...never owned a horse but love them and dream of them 🏇
I've heard that a horse not raised by his mom can be a harder horse to train as he hasn't learned horse manners. Plus being a Stallion still he will be a real handful for you to train. Rowdy seems like an appropriate name for him. He's very pretty.
Rowdy is a beautiful horse!
He is beautiful
Please keep us updated on Rowdy @The farm on route 66 👍 🔔
Thanks guys ♥️🐎
Congratulations for the new home
He certainly is a very handsome stallion I hope that you can breed him, God bless you all 🙏🙏🥰
I’m curious about Rody. In your shoes, I’d work with him in the round pen and see what type of demeanor he gives you. A couple sessions should give you a small idea of his personality and respect.
Thank you for sharing ❤️
Good idea
I had a stallion for over 20 years you always have to be on high alert they can be dangerous .
I had a quarter Arab cross. She was the best horse I ever had. Had the beauty, grace and stamina of the Arab and the calm attitude of the quarter horse. It really is a great cross. So is paint quarter cross.
SO BEAUTIFUL 😍
Beautiful horse!❤❤🐎🐎
Rowdy is absolutely gorgeous! I would breed him then fix him so he stays calmed down.
That's an amazing looking horse.
Yes pls give him to somebody, this poor horse is alone night and day.
Beautiful horses!
I love all horses but paints are my weakness. He is beautiful! I hope you can find him a home where he can run free with some mares.
I think him and Duchess would make beautiful babies...🥰
Looking good…
your correct on the idea on breeding some mares to that beautiful stallion. have you got closer to a decesion? hope Jerome could ride him some day .Beautiful horse.
Not sure yet
We got .50 in Hereford. We sure need the rain.
A pumpkin patch! I'm looking forward to THAT...granted that's this fall, but still. When my son was little we'd ride out to one of the local farms to get pumpkins, and for a number of years they had a team of horses that they'd hitch to a wagon, and that was how you got out to the fields where the pumpkins were (they also had a couple of tractors). Then when you got back you could get hot apple cider and kettle corn. So, good memories. :)
It was amazing to watch you & Blake participate in the Pony Express. Poncha is going to be spoiled. He was so happy. ✌️🌻
Ohhhh my heart, 😊 He'd be lovely to ride ...Are y'all sure you don't want to train him? 😊
Would be painful and he sure dont need/ want another injury.
It would be pretty amazing but not sure we want to take on the project
Love being part of the "Farm Family" The stallion is AMAZING. Keep him & breed.
😲OMG that's a beautiful horse! 15 & never ridden? That's sad. What was he used for. You sure did get snow sorry it's so cold. We're getting flurries here west OR. Thanks for sharing 👍🤗❤
Just loved him as a pet
He would make a great gelding. With no papers to prove what he is, what's the point in keeping him a stallion. The way he is, he'd always have to be kept away from mares, but with time, as a gelding, he could go out with the ladies. And they would teach him any manners that he didn't have.
Absolutely
Theres money in siring!!!
I agree with you Kevin. Studs have a one track mind. Plus why is he breeding all these horses. There are so many unwanted ones 😪
@@brendabrinkmanpasichnyk3500 Not from a grade stallion.
I bred my solid bay QH mare to a homozygous black/white stallion and I hope I can show you the result. Don’t know how to send a picture but my mare is a Medicine Hat with mostly white coat and pink skin and one blue eye. All of that coloring came from the stallion. Paints are QH/TB Color breed. Since mine is not papered, she is registered Pinto according to color only.
If you breed that stud, make sure the mare has a nice long neck!
U could give him a chance and see if he would work out to train. 😊
Working with anything older just takes more patience 😊
Perhaps Amry and Cisco could train him for ya. They are awesome trainers. for sure.😃
WOW..! He is gorgeous, black and whites are hard to find.
He is a big boy
The paint stallion is pretty horse. it would be interesting to see what his offspring look like.
We had about six inches of snow two weekends ago and today is 70 and wingy! Blowing in another cold front! The horses are all looking good! You have some great plans for your fields!
The blizzard snow angels were the best and Vicky and Allen the pumpkin patch is a great idea and great time to get the kids gree pumpkins and see the farm 🚜 fall time is the best time great pinto stallion be a nice one to cross on your pinto mare if she vet checks sound to have a foal God bless you all down on the farm 🚜 🐄 🐎 🐓 🕊 🕊 🕊 🕊 ✝️ ❤️
Hear your wind, storm starting here.
Those pastures will be perfect for the horses!! That’s all exciting!
I think you should make a T-shirt of you and Duchess on the hush tag pony express run it would be awesome I would buy one
Fun idea
I’m interested in this guy
Do a YT video with Ryan Rose and both of you can post it. Would be good to see a video on this beautiful horse at 15 being saddle broke.
Think you should let him breed he would make beautiful babies ❤❤
I can’t believe I’m seeing snow it’s gonna be 86° here today on Tuesday it was 82 yesterday Comanche Texas
So nice. Send us warm weather
Even though it’s a LOT of work! Your help and all efforts are a blessing to see in your final show. Yes the notification thing is going on with many UTube channels
I don't know anything about Paints, except they are gorgeous! I heard on the weather report that you folks were going to get quite a storm---the whole West and into the Plains, in fact. I'll bet you'll be glad of those self-heating vests!
Glad you found a good time for the horse. You have some beautiful horses 😊. God bless you from Michigan ❤️
Hello Alan and Vicky-beautiful horse-thank you for the ride along-the pumpkins will be a great idea for the kids-thank you for sharing❤God Bless-love all your horses❤brr the snow angels!
Good show Alan and Vicky. I have a friend that had the most beautiful black/white paint. He had near perfect confirmation and a beautiful head. He had this horse in a pen with 12' high fence. Stud wanted to get to a mare and tried jumping over the fence. From under his chest, and all the way to his groin was ripped open. Stud was found still hanging over the fence and bled out before he was found. Broke this man's heart. Not just because the horse died, but because he thought he had the horse safely penned and he was. Just something that happens when you have a big, powerful stud horse around that is determined to visit the girls. The palomino mare sure moved out nice when Malcolm got on her. Can you believe this weather? Someone needs to give Mother Nature a few doses of Prozac!!
😂
Some of the best horsegs I have ridden horses have been "grade"
He seems to have the build of a Galachino. I had one 40 years ago.
Alan and Vicky where are your sunglasses? Rowdy the Paint Stallion looks great. My step Grandfather, my grandmother got married again a couple of years after my Grandfather died, he had Paint Horses and Quarter Horses. He preferred Tobiano Paints if I recall correctly.
I needed sunglasses it was so bright
Arab paint cross👍👍👍👍
ps: I am glad 66 isn’t there right now…..
Rowdy is trespassing….
He sure would be gorgeous under saddle…..
I’m partial to the tri-color
Allen take Rowdy to Henson Winn to have him trained just my suggestion
He looks like qh draft mix
I am really starting to like Dutchess more and more. She is very nicely built and has a very gentle face.
Let’s hear about Blake’s Jeep, I can lift it, put really big tires on it.
That would be fun
There are three types of Paint horse patterns: Tobiano🐴& Overo🐴 & Tovero🐴
how fun would it be to have a baby paint.
I bet your brother could work him and he’d be good on rides
Beautiful stallion. Make some awesome foals. I would love to see more shots of the chickens on your channel. I know you’re a horse channel but there is a.enormous interest in chickens right now and I think a lot of your viewers would enjoy seeing them because your chickens are very beautiful.
Great idea
I enjoy your videos 💙✌️
Thank you
❤️
Breed him with Jessie, they would have a gorgeous foal! You asked!😊
God Bless
A registered paint stallion can be bred to a paint, 1/4 horse or thoroughbred and can have a reg. Paint foal. A paint/pinto bred to an Arabian can have a 1/2 arab. Reg foal and also reg pinto ( which is a color) they have arabclasses for them. He looks like a nice stallion. Maybe your little brother could train him.
Allen take Rowdy to Henson Winn to train my suggestion
There’s a chance he could be double registered Quarter/Paint. If the previous owners thought enough of him to leave him a stud, maybe they have pedigree paperwork. I wouldn’t bother to try and get him broke to ride at this point. He’s chunky and gorgeous & would love to see any babies from him
NO - not true. Quarter horse registry does not accept any horses with "excess" white. Stockings above the knees or hocks. Bald face where the white goes too far behind the eye area.Or any white spots on the body anywhere larger than 3 " diameter. Quarter horse doesn't want paint/pinto genetics because of the dominance of the spotting genetics. Registered Paint horses however can be part Quarter horse/ part Reg. Paint horse. (Acceptable cross for Reg. Paints.) Paint is spotted and Registered. Pinto is spotted but NOT registered.
Nice video
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
❤️❤️❤️
Don’t risk gelding at 15! We had a stallion die horrifically after gelding at 7 from complications from the surgery. He is old enough that it’s unlikely his disposition will change, also his crest could very likely fall, and that would be a shame.
You’re right he’s a beautiful boy but at 15 and still a stallion it’ll be lots of work if you’d consider starting him under saddle. I know where you’re coming from because you’ve got a lot of other projects going on and Blake is not going to be available. I had to cut back (in my 50s), had to remember spreading myself thin isn’t as easy to bounce back from especially when taking on training a horse daily. If you’re thinking about breeding, more work and time too during and after. Only one of you and the pocketbook only goes so far too. I had a soft, bleeding heart and had pasture pets till my last one passed a few years back (at one time I had 8-plus my others and my husband was ready to set me out to pasture lol). I get it, it’s a possible new adventure but only one of you and your time is busy too. Whatever you choose, stay focused on why you do what you do and your mission because it’s been a blessing to watch your channel. God bless 🌻⛄️
