- If you could go back in time and walk the hills and hollows of Greenbrier and Pocohontas Counties West Virginia chances are you would hear the fiddle music of the Hammons Family.
Pretty inspirational to see my ancestors on here...hope I do them proud.
-David Hammons
I'm a Hammons and my dad's family comes from east Tennessee but I've never heard of this.
My name is Matthew Hammons! I am the great grandson of Edden Hammons and the rest of the family. My grandpa is William smith Hammons (eddens son) and my father is Evertt Hammons! I have alot of these actual real photographs and still love bluegrass music! If anyone is related to me or wanting to know any information about the family history please get ahold of me!
We're related! My Mom was Janet, her dad was Monroe, His dad was Currence, and his dad was Cornelius (Neal) who was Edden's brother.
Whenever I look for good fiddle or banjo music and I want the real stuff I always end up with the Hammons! No one plays it better! -from San Diego CA
My daddy, John Mullens grew up with Sherman Hammons (Paris Hammons) & all of that family out on Williams River, Pocahontas County, WV. Sherman is in the youtube video "Sugar in the Gourd, 1978" found in this section. My dad also played music with Sherman & his boys on their front porch in the late 1970's. I was a young teenager & enjoyed it very much.
Ah, I love this! So interesting to hear a piece of family history!
I have met them all and heard them all play in person .Spent many hours with them all .My children are decendants of the Hammons family . My ex husband is the grandson of Shermans sister Nancy Hammons McCoy.She was a sweet woman as was Aunt Maggie .I started going to Marlinton in 1976 and still go back to visit .I was just there last weekend with my son and we went to the old homesteads at Stillwell and Williams river .Love going back and think of them all often.
