Considering how Dashie kept going on about Birdo's Diamond Ring, it'd be funny if he eventually learnt that (technically) Birdo is Yoshi's "love interest" in the Mario universe! The homie Yosh got him a baby girl, and even put a ring on it! ;P I seriously find it funny that, during his first time playing as Birdo, Peach was a problem/his rival the whole time! It even felt like the more Dashie went on about Birdo's Ring and/or Peach's jealousy, the more aggroed Peach became! XD (Note: Before it's brought up regarding Birdo's "gender"... it was apparently stated that, when Birdo became more mainstay, Nintendo made her a full-on female character... At least in most Western localizations.)

Dashie, just so you know, when you pick certain characters to race with, other characters will have a set difficulty for that character. So when you pick Yoshi, DK will most likely be there and he'll be more difficult than other racers...
