    _______________________________Description_____________________________
Korea is a very popular place to work abroad (typically teaching English.) These days it seems it’s getting more and more popular with things such as (KPOP, DRAMAS, MOVIES - PARASITE etc..)
I created this video because I also was in a weird place after graduating college wanting to travel the world but of course I was broke. So Korea was a little shimmering light that had a ton of working opportunities while at the same time being able to travel. So yes I came with the intention of staying for 6 months….which somehow turned into 6 years LOL.
I have experienced A LOT here as far as work/friendships/eating/drinking/culture/culture shock and a whole lot more so hopefully this video can be somewhat helpful for those also curious about working in Korea but need more insight.
Of course right now during the Covid-19 outbreak teaching abroad might not be an option. However when things get better get a head start and try it out.
    ____________________________HELPFUL LINKS__________________________
Here are some popular websites and programs I and others have used for work.
    TALK - www.talk.go.kr...
This is an after school program (public schools) and actually the program I came to Korea
with. I had a great experience with it.
    EPIK - www.epik.go.kr/...
This is one of the most popular programs also for (public schools)
    Korean Horizons - www.koreanhori...
Kevin in the video used this and highly recommends it.
    Dave’s ESL - www.eslcafe.co...
Best way to search for jobs in Korea. I used this site for every job.
    _______________________________ Requirements __________________________
** Requirements totally depend on the school/program you are applying for. However here are the usual ones:
    1. Bachelor’s degree / diploma (depending on the country you will have to get this apostilled.)
    2. Sealed university transcript
    3. Passport
    4. Passport photos
    5. National criminal background check
    6. Employment contract from the recruiter/school
    7. ** some jobs will require TEFL/TESOL/CELTA certification
Whatever you apply for the instructions will be clear on the website or from the recruiter
    _______________________________SOCIAL_________________________________

I am korean and used to be an art instructor at many hakwons for 11 years. I strongly agree with most of you talked about hakwon employers. Even Korean teachers/instructors are taken advantage by employers and exploited so bad. I was one who struggled with it then left the country.
DO RESEARCH to find the right one for you and be prepare not to get exploited. Not all the employers are bad, but just be careful.
There are many nice and fun Koreans you will meet. Good luck! 👍

You guys are truly lucky. As native English speakers, u guys can apply jobs abroad easier than other non native speakers. I am korean and I try to live out of Korea but it is really really hard to get a visa. Firstly a language barrier. I know many Americans or British etc they are able to get jobs. English teachers guarantee fairly balanced life and reasonable wage and accommodation.

That's one of biggest reasons why you are just forigner.
A lot of Korean try to speak English for forigners, but if you don't understand Korean you'll never understand Korea.
Just think about it, in USA how they treat people who don't speak English

I'm not criticizing but its a fact that Its a privilege for a non asians go get a job in south korea, specially if their mother language is english they get the job right away as an english teacher. Me struggling to find a job there. 🥺😭 i really wanted to pursue my fashion in beauty industry but the competition wasn't easy.

    Money remains my biggest barrier!
I wouldn't miss a similar opportunity just because of that, but there is the fact that I am from Morocco, so no matter how good my English and Korean are, I can hardly find a program that will take me. I'm also 20yo and I've never majored in English, so there is that!
But I really appreciate this video, it was quite informative and it made me weirdly excited for the idea again after losing all hope.

I am working on finishing my Masters in Information Technology in hopes to move to South Korea when I am done. Maybe try it out for a year so get a paid internship, teach, or something. I love the culture and currently learning the language as well.

Native speakers from US, UK, Australia, Canada, NZ and South Africa could easily find employment as English teacher in South Korea. However, I think that being a native speaker doesn’t mean you’re a great teacher. Teaching is a skill, a talent and a noble profession. As a noble profession, it involves the passion to inspire and mentor your students to become a better version of themselves. Teaching also entails creativity and grit to making learning more interesting to learners. Not everyone can effectively teach a lesson. I just hope South Korean schools will revise qualifications and give chance to non native speakers, but are effective English teachers. Qualifications should be based from one’s ability to effectively deliver a lesson and not from one’s race. 😊

Thank you so much for this! I have been considering working in SK for a while but I have been a bit skeptical. Hearing about people's various experiences definitely puts things into perspective. I love how you instructed the interviews by the way. Good luck!

Thank you I appreciate it. And yes getting multiple point of views is the best because everybody has a completely different experience some good some bad it’s up to the personality of the individual, how open one is to face new foreign differences, culture etc..and of course the job they have. But all in all from the majority of people it’s a positive experience :)
