    Whomever they paid to find them a new name has taken them for a ride. In 5 seconds I came up with a better name: Gnarwhal.

    I totally don't understand why people are saying Nahvalur is hard to pronounce or spell - all of the letters are there in front of people. Either way, if it helps a pen company continue I'm all for it.

    What a beautiful color and love the name of the ink too.The Original Plus is gorgeous.

    I prefer the old logo. Searching for Narwhal pens never got me whale results, Nahvalur is not a name that I find easy to remember. An the pen. A very nice pen with the always interesting vacuum filling system. I would love some extra pizzazz on the barrel, seems too plain. I like the 2 levels of threads where the nib unit meets the barrel, some similar pens have them at the same place (one inside and one on the outer part of the barrel) and that leads to cracks due to the pressure at that point. Good engineering. I noticed the feed has its casing, is it easy to change? The gasket comes with 2 levels too, does it stop the ink flow like the Opus 88 pens to prevent leakage? If so it is an even better offering than I expected in that price range though the Shoekill (yes thats how i remember it) appeals more to me due to the barrel colours. The TWSBI Vac700 (except the Iris) has serious competition at and below that price range.

    I much prefer the Narwhal logo on the nib...not the new squiggly lines. Ever notice the clips are identical to several Taccia pens like the Spectrum?

    Just received the Nahvalur/Galen Leather collab and love it. You are one of my pen heroes for interviewing Neil deGrasse Tyson. Was happy to learn that I have something in common with a "rocket scientist."

    Thank you for your very helpful review. It's such a nice looking and affordable vac filler that it's hard to pass up. I'd like to get the pen just because it's the company's first release in the very hard to say, very hard to remember, and very hard to spell new name.

    You need to shake up cheerio waterbus a bunch to get the blue pigment better suspended in the ink. It looks way cooler when you shake it up.

      Yes. Same for Sailor. In fact, across all industries, pretty much every update to a nice logo has ruined it, in the name of... modernity?

    I do like the vacuum filling, but I have to say the acrylic is deeply uninspiring to me, after recent very exciting designs. Looks like it should be a multi-pack ballpoint.

    Based on their logic, every Italian pen company I can think of should also change name.
    Maybe they're right, but I'm not convinced.

    • @tayterlik
      @tayterlik 2 года назад +3

      Same. Most of the people thinking of Leonardo + Italy have some specific gentleman from Renaissance on their mind, yet a very successful company produces pens under this name too...

    • @bradwavemb
      @bradwavemb 2 года назад +2

      @@tayterlik Not only that. Leonardo is also Italy's largest defence company. And it's a common first name.
      Visconti is a surname, famously that of a noble family from Milan.
      Montegrappa, if searched on Google, also yields me some results related to "monte Grappa", a mountain.
      Gioia literally means "joy", nothing special about it.
      Aurora means... aurora. It's also a first name.
      The only exception that comes to my mind is Pineider.

    I like the fact that you didn't try to pronounce the new name, not even once!
    Also, I do think this pen looks kinda like a TWSBI, under certain lighting or colour.

  • @harrylew

    Love the pen. Based on its built quality and excellent nib and vac filling mechanism, I plan to order a couple more. However, I must say the new name is a branding disaster. Whoever made that decision should be dismissed on grounds of marketing malpractice.

  • @SwayvillDelgarian

    New name more unique or more obscure? We baby boomers really don’t embrace change but good luck Nahvalur.
    I’m just wondering if you could fill one of these pens using a TWSBI Vac 20 filling bottles?

    For us spanish speakers the new name is not dificult to pronounce, buuuuuuut, warwhal in spanish sounds very similar to the english pronunciation and the new name has really nothing to do now.
    In the end I won't care as long as they continue creating great pens.

    Actually let me tell you something interesting NARWAL is an INDIAN sir name and the amount of facebook names and companies you ll find in India with this exact spelling will your foookin blow your mind. When I heard someone saying narwal I was of the mind that it might be an INDIAN company.
    In fact a state named as HARYANA in INDIA , where I am from, has actually a CITY named after narwal named as NARWANA. That name change wasnt just needed but it was foookin necessary you can't even fathom the search engine picking up India facebook names or other home grown small companies in the name NARWAL.
    But that comment with GNARLWAL was amazing.

    Super weird choice to change the name and logo to harder and uglier, supposedly in response to searchability difficulties online.

    That story is strange.

    Narvalhalla would be an appropriate name for their company so they could hope that may be someone might remember its name.
    There is nothing on this company and their pens that would attract me to buy even one of them. Let alone name it even ...
    May be they could even make a story about Narvalhalla being the place where heroic fountain pens go when they die
