I believe the problem is both are traditional feminine professions and so undervalued and paid less than traditional male professions. Nurses are still seen as handmaidens to doctors by many rather than skilled professionals in their own right that they are. As long as the work is seen as woman's work rather than a profession I don't think it will get better anytime soon.
Sorry if there are typos my vision is not what it used to be.

In my county - Loudoun County, Virginia - our school board recently (Nov. 2022) passed a rule, required by the state, that teachers must notify parents at least one month in advance of any curriculum pertaining to anything “sexually explicit.”
According to the Washington Post: ‘Loudoun’s policy cites Virginia law to define sexually explicit content as descriptions, pictures, photographs, drawings, films or other visual representations of “sexual bestiality, a lewd exhibition of nudity … sexual excitement, sexual conduct or sadomasochistic abuse … coprophilia, urophilia, or fetishism.”’
I am not precisely sure what’s going on here, but it feels like a play to restrict the autonomy of teachers in their own classrooms and to scare parents about LGBTQ something or another.
Parents now also have a right to opt their children out of any such lessons.
