Right. Even calling Alice Cooper that is a stretch. I hear "hair metal" I think Whitesnake, Van Halen etc. Not as frilly as glam metal and not as aggressive as heavy or speed metal. The more of these old interviews I watch, the more I realise these genre distinctions were even less defined than today. For example, I heard Overkill be described as a "death metal" band. The term "thrash metal" also seems to have come into common use a bit later as well. (I wasnt born until well after this so forgive any ignorance on my part please.) In interviews contemporary with this video, I've seen bands that are undeniably known as thrash today be called speed metal or heavy metal.
