I'm pretty sure someone else had told you by now.. Go into settings and change the laser pointer ('Ctrl' by default) to a toggle, if it isn't already. Then you can tap 'Ctrl' to see everyone's name/location while the laser pointer is active. Press any other key (I usually just use the '1' key) to cancel out without toggling it off Now everyone should stay visible. If any thing else is added (such as new players) you have to repeat this to make them visible again. It also highlights molly, minehead, pumpjacks, and mobile refinery.

Does the engineer player realize he has a grenade launcher that 3 shots the big enemies? Does he also know he can resupply his turrets without building new ones? That's the character I play because I do solo and it's easiest to survive on. My shotgun 2 shots most basic enemies and my grenade launcher 3 shots big enemies. Plus my plasma grenades insta kill just about anything in their radius. But I feel like the engineer player was just using turrets and shotgun. Idk, maybe I just need to see it from his perspective.
