Thanks mate. Glad I came across this. I upgraded from a very old 18v unit and had no idea what I was doing (especially with the bump feed) so this video was perfect. This thing literally blew me away on high. I had no idea it was going to be this powerful.
I just bought one of those and the head height is ok for me. Have tough bush grass and cuts it well on the low setting. Light weight, quiet and very powerful, really like it. 4Ah battery big enough also.
We just bought one over the weekend and I'm struggling with the height of it too. Another thing is the guard is quite big, I can't see where it's cutting. Also with me being a little person it's quite long and the instruction manual doesn't show things properly. I spent about 45 minutes talking to a service person in Australia today about the bump feed.
Great review mate, one thing I don't understand is why the guard only goes halfway around the back and there looks to be an extension piece for the guard that covered the left hand side but where is it? The screw holes are there but there's no mention of it. It's really annoying because I always get hit with stones.
It's very odd they didn't think this through. You can buy the additional guard from Bunnings for about $10. It's called Part No. 314051001 - 16" small guard with blade assembly and you just screw it onto the existing guard, problem solved.
solid review mate, was looking at this one but annoying i dont have the right batterys already. Will just get a new one that takes the other batterys, looks like a pain in the ass to get a clean edge.
Thought id post my review after using this only twice, it spins clockwise so if you're right handed everything shoots at your feet, you get about 5-10mins out of it before it shuts it self down, not the battery, after looking online the controller overheats because there's no fan on it, there's one on the motor which is fine, but not on the torque controller, so you have to then wait about 20minutes for it to cool down, DO NOT RECOMMEND
Been using mine for a year now, I've never had any issues with it. In fact, as my review states; it works so well I only use it on low speed and never had any issues. Maybe yours is a different model? Or maybe you unfortunately got a lemon? Take it back for a replacement through warranty.
Something wrong with your unit. I have long hard bush grass and i work it hard. Both the battery and the power head get luke warm only. Never stalls or stops until you run out of juice. Mine is 36V and 4Ah battery.
Dam, I've go the lawn mower that uses the same battery and was looking at buying this line trimmer. Don't know why ryobi designed the string to sit so high up on the head. Idiots. Don't know what I'm going to buy now.

Thanks. My AEG 18V died today after a bit over 24 months ago. Will get one and of these and see how it goes.
Great review thanks> I will buy one. Also love the safety boots....Aussie style.

Great review mate. We just watched with my son. Very clear. Thanks you.
Awesome review, thanks very much. Have been considering buying one of these Ryobi’s and you’ve talked me into it, cheers!
Cheers for the review mate. I’m going to get one
i hold mine upside down and do the edging from the concrete side, seems to be more accurate for me
seems to work nice behind plant pots upside down too

Thank you for this awesome instructional video.

Great review mate. Cheers
Great video mate. Thanks
Its a very nice review, Thanks for your effort.
thanks for posting this.
Do you find you wish you had a shoulder strap or is it pretty light?
Could you please show how to replace the trimmer head?
My line retracted in fully and I need to replace the head. Many thanks
See my other video. It might help. ruclips.net/video/9GpQkL6dTZE/видео.html
Safety first always, except when you are using a whipper snipper, that's when things are OK....love the vid anyway cheers buddy...lol
is this the 2.0AH battery? is it wirth spending like another $80 on top for the 4.0AH version?
100% worth getting the 4A battery. The 2A is very small and won't last long before requiring charging again.
Very helpful! Thank yoy

How the hell do you install the handle on this??

I had trouble finding a head that would swap out. Purchased a few different ones from ebay but the bolt was the wrong thread etc..
@LegendLength
Get an Echo speed feed 400. It’s compatible with this Ryobi trimmer & much more durable- it’s what the pros use
I bought this recently because of the battery and it’s a pain in the arse to use compared to my old one
I love mine, very convincing unit. The Stihl for sale now.
Great video !
Can anyone tell me if the cheaper 36v model that is not brushless is comparable to this?
@orbital486
Brushless is much more efficient & has more power. They also have longer motor life & drain the battery slower
Great weapon if you come across a Funnel Web!
the specs say 2.0mm but you said 2.4mm ?!?!
Awesome review, thanks! Ryobi are dumb not to make decent videos like this lol.
great video but I wanted to see it do some WORK! Looks like you had trimmed your lawn 10mins before you made this video

I'd still get it if you have the batteries already. I've got a video coming soon about changing for a better head. If you're interested.
@@Joelyabbadoo yes, I would like to see that video when it’s done. Why should anyone have to spend time snd money on a poorly designed unit.

That is a 40v
