Hello Jeanette. Due to the low water this summer in the rivers and chanels I should consider to go to the northsea via the Westerschelde and then along the coast to france. If the is rain coming in not to long time you can go up the river Seine and then enter the Chanels. If the water is still to low you can go even more southe and enter the channels via Bordeaux and via de chanels to the med! Have a good trip even with this low water levels.
@@sailingtilda Know I 'm a little late in the game. While checking all different options, a couple that took the Moselle route and needed to return due to the closed canal in front, while almost halfway towards the Saone ribver, opted to return to the Marne-Rhine channel to Strasbourg instead, and then continued downstream of the river Rhine to enter the beautiful slow moving Main river, which doesn't lie far behind the Moselle river in terms of beauty. Taking the channel through Bavaria to the river Danube, they didn't regret their decision for a minute. Their travel towards the Black Sea was worth the extra mile. At the end the couple reached the Med from a rear entrance (Bosporus).
Dear Jeanette, Greetings from the Netherlands. I wrote you below story 2 month ago. Now you are on the river Maas near the village Gennep...and nearby my village CUIJK (just passed!). My story 2 month ago to your episode"Which route to choose!: If you want to learn single-handed boat handling or rope handling or manouevring in locks please find the fantastic book from Duncan Wells; Stress Free Sailing with connection to you-tube instruction films. I am probably twice your age (I guess) and bought a HR 352 i (1990) in Trollhattan in 2015. Step by step I am learning to sail solo. Last trip was on the Northsea still under the coast of Holland. If you choose your way to the Med via river Maas, please stop in Cuijk and have a good coffee or so. My wife and I would welcome you "the Swedisch"way. Fair wind and good trip . Best regards Geert
Hej.
I use caravan filter cartridges which sit inline prior to tap, easy to install and replace, i renew every 12 months, after disinfecting and flushing my water bladders, works well. Best
