i don't think so. the internet is different than it was back then, ruled by algorithms that prioritize shitty clickbait content over real originality and creativity. the way this character/song came about was a very spontaneous and organic collaboration between artists. not saying it's impossible, but the current conditions make it much harder for this sort of thing to just happen

@@psi2181 the thing is, i don't think it's that simple as coming up with a new platform. when social media was still green and new, and capitalism still hadnt got its dirty hands on it, people were just posting things (art, music, skits, etc) to express themselves and were rightfully rewarded for it. nowadays it's all about clout chasing, viewcounts, sponsorships, and payouts. ultimately i think the problem isn't the platform... the problem is with us. the people. "sOciEty." in order to remain competitive in the current environment, any well-meaning youtube alternative would have to inevitably fall prey to the same pitfalls as the current platforms on the market. even so, it is still lovely to think about. imagine a version of youtube that actually treats its creators, especially small creators, with dignity. actually giving new ideas a chance with the algorithm, making it easier to monetize videos rather than fighting over 0.0001 milliseconds of copyrighted music or one singular swear word, etc. thereby encouraging creativity and innovation from the masses rather than just people/content that is already established...
