  • This video describes the basic characteristics of two types of aquifers and identifies four types of geological units that make up many of the aquifers in the US. We compare and contrast unconfined and confined aquifers and show the distribution of aquifer systems composed of sand and gravel, sandstone, carbonates (limestone), and fractured igneous and metamorphic rocks. On the basis of the maps we show you, what is the most likely composition of your local aquifer system?

How could you cover US aquifers without mentioning the Ogallala, which runs from the northern plains down to Texas? Shouldn't you cover a few topical issues, such as how much aquifer subsidence (and loss of capacity) can California expect if it keeps pumping out more and more water from the central valley aquifers?

Why on earth would you have that male narrator for this educational video? I missed every 3rd or 4th word he said. If your going to teach, do it clearly or why bother? The woman's spoke clearly, but I still got only half of what was said. Ditch the male narrator and have the woman narrate the whole thing.
