    Just discovered your channel and subscribed. I live on Guntersville Lake and fish there alot too. Love your videos & glad you release alot of your fish. You don't see that much on Guntersville with anything other than bass, especially when they are spawning and easier to catch. People tend to load up their coolers, buckets, and livewells with fish that are about to reproduce. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with keeping a mess of fish or two, I keep some now and then myself, but anglers on Guntersville tend to overdo it sometimes. Since you live there, you know what I'm talking about. For those of you who don't & see this comment, we literally have people targeting crappie with cast nets sometimes, and usually once someone finds a bed of bream or crappie they fish it for days keeping anything they catch with any size to it until there are no fish left on the bed.

    • @RichardGeneTheFishingMachine
      @RichardGeneTheFishingMachine  7 лет назад

      Gofish 1 I agree 100%. Nothing wrong with keeping a mess or two. catch and release is important for the future of our fishery! Thanks for the sub and I hope you continue to enjoy my videos!

    Back years ago in Tennessee I got into fishing for bluegill with an ultralight Daiwa combo. I had so much fun with that. Getting into trying different baits like worms and crickets and different plastic grubs and small spinners. Loads of fun catching them and you're correct as anyone knows who's done, they sit nice on a plate and in your stomach.
    Everybody go fishin' when ye can. I can't do it much anymore. Do it while ye can cause it's gooood fer ye!

    Thanks for the great tips on blue gill fishing...its something that I overlook most of the time....you got me so wound up about it I am going to order me a couple more ultra lights and some 2 lbs test and some of those crawdad with the sparkle 1/128th oz jig and set me up two poles just for this.....I believe I can use some of my trout jigs for this also...how many times have i been working a wooded bank and smell that wonderful aroma of a bream bed and just go right on past it.....well hopefully in a few days I will have a couple of outfits on board that i can grab and try to catch a few off one of those beds.....thanks Mr Fishing Machine.....love that boat too.....have a great day sir. .......if you ever have some spare time I sure would appreciate you doing a video on how to fish tall rock walls....In our lake...Cherokee up here its a big lake and has a lot of high rock walls....i can see the fish out from it on the fish finder but cant seem to find the right combo to make em bite. Thanks again.....Bill Jones

      Richard Gene The Fishing Machine I just got into fishing like THIS WEEK. I started on Tuesday but it didn't work out wish a "pen" pole, so I got a normal sizes rod from Walmart, and then went out yesterday (Wednesday) and caught 4 small blue Gill. And then today but only for an hour before the sun went down. So tomorrow I'm hitting the lake to relax and catch some. Thanks for the info in this video, helps a lot.

    There is a pond at my shore complex and I just recently started fishing there. I’ve been using rooster tails on 2 pound line and I’ve caught bass and bluegill. I’m an amateur so when I caught the bluegill I got pricked on his spines. That’s when my neighbor showed me how to unhook him. 😂

    Richard.....I have really enjoyed watching all your videos....I just want to see Elmo just once.....I`m fixin to start bluegill and shellcracker fishing and crappie....someone else can have the bass...with the light line and tackle a bluegill/shellcracker will be comparable to a 2 lb bass, and they will taste better....I live in J`ville,al.....one day I`ll see you on Weiss or Guntersvillle....at the end of this video I noticed that you had a lot of rocks piled up against a small tree....that wouldn`t happen to be rocks suitable for flintnapping arrowheads would it ? I`m going to start flintnapping too....I sure would like to find someone to help find good flint in this area....John martin

    When fishing for bluegill and crappie- if using live bait do you try to set the hook after a first bite? or wait until the second? I've been waiting for the 2nd and wonder if i'm missing fish. I figured if it was live bait, that jig/wax worm could be in it's mouth while i'm waiting on the 2nd bite? Idk..and do you just raise the pole to set the hook? Thanks in advance.

    Richard, never subscribed before. Figured I would subscribe to your channel because you are just fishing and talking. Learning a lot from you. Fished a bunch when I was a kid catching blue gill and sunfish with Granny Ferris in Michigan, she lived to be a hundred and fifteen. Fishing was her favorite thing. Thought it was the reason she lived so long. Low stress and good adrenaline flow. Learned lots about life from her. Just one question, how many boats do you have? Seems like every video, which I enjoy, you are in a different boat. Are you using Elmo's boats? Go fishing when you can, because, it's good for ya, and keep videos coming. Grew up in Michigan. Retired now and trying to relearn fishing in Texas. Way different from lake fishing in Michigan.

    • @RichardGeneTheFishingMachine
      @RichardGeneTheFishingMachine  7 лет назад

      Thank you Richard! I have two different boats. One is a little smaller and lighter than the other so i will use it when panfishing. I think Granny Ferris was right! God bless her! Thank you so much for subscribing Richard!
