I've heard of many specific cases where felony murder rules sent people to jail for very long sentences and I could only shake my head. It's my belief the charge is a product of insensitive people who see uneducated poor people, as disposable people. So many times an aggressive and possibly sociopathic person in a group, commits a murder and people along for the ride are held as accountable as a cold blooded killer? Let's take into account that some people are very agreeable and simply tag along with others who may have criminal tendencies.( I'm not including this specific case) It seems one person in this group had no issue of taking a life, he should be charged with murder and the other two, robbery offences. If it cant be determined who pulled the trigger, a lesser charge is in order.( reasonable doubt) Its up to the prosecution to prove who pulled the trigger. If the accused were educated and had the financial resources for a competent defence, the sentences would be much more reasonable.
Dr. Grande's deadpan humor gets me every time. I had to pause the video after "murder guy" because I was laughing so hard, I couldn't hear what Dr. Grande said next!
most people who enjoy a criminal lifestyle usually end up around guns and eventually get caught for something, even if they are not the triggerman or actually involved in the crime for which they are being charged. Birds of a feather
I think laws like this are also meant to deter people from committing "less serious" crimes like robberies because of how they can turn into murder. So people should just not rob people period.
It only comes in to play if you had a role in the crime. If she just took the victim to meet the 2 guys to buy pot, she wouldn't have been charged with anything. She'd be an innocent bystander and a witness. She set him up to be robbed, which resulted in the murder. That's why she was charged and convicted.
Dr. Grande, your patience in analyzing these cases is commendable. It must be difficult to take on so many cases where human beings continue to disappoint in their choices/reasons for doing horrible acts. Maybe you should find a case where there’s a happy ending for your own sake. 💜
