I believe what your saying about not needing to waste your money on expensive rods. I have a couple of shakespeare scandi rods, one is 11ft the other is 13,6 and l love them. Is that an aventik double handed rod your using, nice casting mate.

Here is a little advice for you when it comes to measuring the temp in the river, you NEVER ever measure the surface themp because that's not where the fish are, measure the temp deep ¨because surface temp and deep themp might vary with a lot, sometimes several degrees.

How does one do that? A waterproof thermometer?

@@AlwaysOneMore well most are waterproof so yes. U can buy an expensive 'salmonfishing' facebook approved one or just buy any thermometer. Even a steak thermometer from the kitchen will do if you add a little line to it and a sinker. Normally an electronic one is more accurate so have that in mind. If a regular one go to the store and grab a bunch and pick the one that has the middle temp since it's most likely the most correct one.

@@MrKveite1I’ve just been using an Amazon effort kitchen thermometer I’ve just been worried to submerge it fully yet. I can see how it would make a difference in taking mood from surface to bottom temp

@@AlwaysOneMore I would go for it to be honest because if the surface is 9c and the 2 m deep temp is only 6c it makes a diff on line/tip and flychoice if it's early or late season and obv if it's 18c surfacetemp in summer and 14-15 c at 2 m.
