There is a fast approach for the hamonic mean for such questions. The harmonic mean is always less than the arithmetic mean. And since calculating the arithmetic mean would be faster. just calculate it and find the option less than that. It only works if the arithmetic mean is choice B.

Is there an alternative way to use the Harmonic Mean when the purchase value varies in each quarter, or should I apply the first approach in these situations?

Great video!!! For some reason i am getting a result of .20 when i add them all up and then in return i get 15 from (3/.20). is there something wrong with my calculation or is my calculator not producing the right output? Thank you

well, 0.2 is very close for the denominator - I get 0.201. How many decimal places do you have on your calculator? If it's just 2 please switch to floating decimal (i.e. DEC = 9). If you watch the video on setting up your BA II Plus calculator, I show how to do that.

How are you mirroring what you write for the video? (Assuming you aren’t just excellent at writing backwards)

It’s an effect - horizontal flip, which you will find in postproduction software

Lots of extra writing out... Is this needed?

You are absolutely right. It’s not needed😀 I just wanted to show the time difference between using the harmonic mean formula and doing the computation the long way! I probably should have reversed the order and started with the formula.
