Glad you enjoyed the drive but the best in NZ? I’m not so sure. It’s a big call but you need to do more of the great drives to make a call.
Thames Coast road. Even the extension up to Fletcher Bay.
West Coast karamea to Greymouth, especially the Charleston to Barrytown section.
The Milford Sound road
The spectacular drive from Collingwood down the Wanganui inlet as far as the road goes ( top of the West Coast)and hardly known. At full tide is hard to beat.
The Molesworth road from hammer springs to Blenheim is also spectacular.
The Kaikōura coast road.
The drive from ashburton up to Lake Clearwater and onto Erewhon Station.
The drive through the Urewera from Rotorua to Gisborne.
Haha, that's why we put a question mark :) This was our first time seeing such blue water, but since then we've done the road to Milford, and that beautiful West Coast road. So many absolutely breathtaking roads in NZ! And thanks for all your other suggestions, we still have a lot to see!

North Island, even a damp Wellington, is special. South Island is a whole different level. Hope your Ma and Pa enjoyed their time here.

Lake Tekapo is just as amazingly beautiful in Winter. The only place/River in SA that we've seen that comes remotely close to that turquoise one you stopped at, is in Still Bay, WC. Glad you got to share this beauty with loved ones.

The views are unbelievable, me and my Fiance are moving to North Island in October, but we cannot wait to travel the South.
How exciting! We love living on the north island, and doing trips to the south. We feel so lucky to have such a beautiful bucketlist destination at our doorstep :)

Queenstown was a lovely town once, appears now to have uglied up for the tourists .. shame. Loving your vids and can relate to the amount of unintended photo/scenic stops. your enjoyment and enthusiasm is wonderful. green with envy.

Good morning - from your self appointed “No. 1 fan”. Another beautiful video, AND you had sun all the way. Besides the multiple stops en route making your day long, I think as emigres from SA, it initially comes as a bit of a shock/ surprise when you realise that it can take you an entire day to drive from say Auckland to Napier, even if the relative distances aren’t that far. New Zealand generally has very good roads (have you seen a pothole anywhere yet?)…but the 100km/h max speed limit and the “curvy/ windy” nature of many roads slows you down. I’ve def never been a “petrolhead” and believe in enjoying the journey. PS…advice for your future travels….1) wear (carry) sensible walking shoes (tekkies), 2) always wear a hat 3) carry a jumper/ jersey in your car, or backpack. That Central Otago sun may be hot during the day but once that sun sets…or you step into the shade…Wishing you a glorious weekend ahead. Zoltan
Yes, can you believe we actually have sun in our video 😂 We totally agree, in NZ it's all about the journey, although the speed limit is low, we probably would've driven slow anyway because of all the magnificent views. (we do miss our 120 on the highways though 😂)

Whenever I'm in Queenstown I always make the effort head to the salmon farms near Mt Cook. It's some of the best salmon in the world, so I hope you get the chance to try it.
Wish we knew about it before we packed lunch! We definitely want to try it oneday!
Most scenic drive? It's up there but I prefer Queenstown to Glenorchy & The road to Milford sound. But yes, central Otago is something special😊
