When you compare this season finally to season 4's... you can tell the difference. Star's decision here felt more mature than her decision in season 4 and felt much better written. This was the episode that convinced me to continue watching the series.
same here. I thought this was going to be a silly cartoon through and through but once the plot thickened I started enjoying it. the funniest part is the reason I started watching the damned show was because of a friend

Toffee has to be one of the best Disney Show villains ever even more evil then Bill Cipher in my opinion. He didnt want to be seen by Marco and Star until that moment and he analyze them. He is able to regenerate his limbs and what's even more evil, instead of taking the wand like any other villain will do, he ask her to destroy it. That's like taking someone main source of will to fight away from them.

Wait a second. Toffee didn't run. And he saw what was going to happen. He smiled at what was about to happen. He saw that it was cleaving. the hand on Ludo's new wand is Toffee's hand. The wand is whispering things to Ludo. Ludo told the eagle in this week's episode "just swallow it" just like Toffee said before. Not only is Toffee still alive through Ludo's wand, I think he planned his own untimely demise.
Ya see kids, I think that you got it all wrong. Toffee, he doesn't gaf what people do, the whole act was a suicide mission. Just think about it sweetie, Its confirmed that Toffee is indeed Imortal because he can regenerate, but HMM.. What part of him CANT regenerate?? HIS FINGER!! And what caused this? THE WAND!! After that happened, toffee realized that the only thing capable of putting an end to his life of heartache and pain was that wand. So he lured the owner of the wand into a place in which he could force her into blowing it up, which would destroy him with it. AND BOOM! NO MORE TOFFEE! He's gone, and he wanted it like that. The smug smile he made as the wand was about to blow, was a "I've done it At last " "its finally over, oh ya" Type of smile.
Battle for Mewni was great too wasn't it? In my personal headcanon I just pretend that the show ended after that and Star got back with Tom after he redeemed himself or someone else who makes her happy.

My intuition was that the reason Toffee wanted the wand destroyed was less nefarious, and that he wasn't entirely evil. The show seems to be slipping into a gray area of morality, especially after the episode about the war between both sides. I am guessing that Toffee wanted to level out the power on both sides, so that monsters can be on equal terms with everyone else. That's just my guess.

I wonder what Toffee wanted. I dont think he's truely evil, because he immediately let Marco go. And he didn't try to stop Star from sealing herself in an unbreakable shelter. And when the wand blew up, he said, "It's been a pleasure" and he was smiling, almost with... satisfaction. Toffee is one of the most mysterious villains I have ever found.
He obviously knew what was going to happen when he forced Star to destroy her wand. He'll regenerate from his missing finger placed either in his jacket or in Star's wand. He also seems to knew Star's family pretty well to know about the Whispering Spell and that Star knows it.
Noticeably, there is a recurring gag in modern animated shows that has the apparent main antagonist be replaced by someone much worse. Star: Toffee > Ludo Gravity Falls: Bill Cipher > Gideon Steven Universe: Yellow Diamond > Jasper & Peridot Wander: Dominator > Hater.
Not only in animated shows, in stories in general a good way of raising the stakes is to introduce a bigger, more competent and more threatening villain to replace the previous one
Queen Moon’s mother was so close to bringing peace and coexistence between Mewmans and monsters. The reason why Toffee killed her was because HE did not want peace. He wanted total destruction for the Mewmans and would even sacrifice other monsters because he cares only for himself
This is why I believe Toffee is one of the more successful villains. Not just Disney villains. Because, even in death, he won… in the end. And more importantly, he was right. He was right about everything. The magic HAD to go. He simply went about it the wrong way. Just like Magneto went about protecting Mutants the wrong way. Yeah, that’s it. Toffee is the Magneto of the Disney universe!

i feel kinda disappointed that the series finale didnt get animation as good as this episode. this is the episode that got me into the series cause its such a good episode, toffee is a great antagonist, the tone of it was great, it had real emotion, it was great. (this is just me being salty about the last episode, im sorry)

you are right, it's difficult for anglosaxon to distinguish between these two languages, the root is the same with the roman empire and after half of italy was under the control of spain for quite some time, so it's a pretty common mistake, but it's convenient for us now...we can visit eachother country and understand eachother with ease
