I appreciate that! I hope to get there soon. But even if I can just inspire some people to create some music I'm succeeding. That's what it's all about to me.
I've been playing the keyboard drums like that my whole life too, and it's nice to see someone else awesome at it. Great video as always, I've watched most of your stuff.
Keyboard drums are so incredibly convenient. I get that it can be challenging but once you get it down it's hilarious how quick you can record drums. Glad to hear there's someone else out there. I thought I was the only one.
Good to see you again and brilliant as always 👍 The new course sounds great, I think and hope it will help many musicians to bring their music to life, thank you ❤
It was great as I knew before watching it. I sent it to a friend and he told me that this was the BEST youtube video he has ever watched an this topic. I'm trying to make music in a way more amateur way and I now the effort behind this video. This is perfect talent combined with hardworking.
Fantastic video...but. It's amazing how that acoustic guitar instantly changed into a bass guitar with no time off the clock. With zero rehearsals or DAW channel setup, no less. :-)
To be honest: the arrangement is killer - I love it! But the mix... is not that strong. The drums are kind of papery, separate and not really carrying the song, the bass is very inconsistent, the acoustic guitars are quite lost and the vocals are a bit dark and uneven. Here's what I would have done: - replaced the kick and snare with more unique samples (you probably can't do it but if you have the opportunity consider making some drum samples of your own) and processed a lot more the shelves with Eq, saturation and compression - both on the tracks and in parallel - to get a lot more energy and added more room sound - even a room reverb is fine; - compressed the bass a lot, given it more midrange and used a multiband compressor to make the low end very consistent - super important when you switch from playing very low notes to playing high on the neck; - compressed the acoustic guitars (because I would have double tracked them), given them more top end and some midrange; - compressed the lead vocal WAY MORE in multiple stages, then boosting a lot more 8k brightness and some midrange, then maybe some saturation before sending it to a stereo kind of slap delay; while for the harmonies and the adlibs I'd have still compressed them a lot, but boosted more higher up (10k or something like that) with some fullness around 700 hZ, before sending them to another delay - not a fun or reverb on vocals. Hope you will appreciate this constructive criticisms!
I would say the goal is not to make a perfect mix, but make it somehow fast draft which is still way better then 80% of home recorded attempt. And the secrete is beside others: decent vocal arrangement capabilities.
I appreciate that! I was building the Spare Bedroom Studio course over the past 4 months which was a ton of work (more than I anticipated). It was 46 videos but it's all done now. I've got 3 more RUclips videos already uploaded and scheduled and plenty more coming. I'm back to regular uploading!
The two harmony tracks were recorded at the same time in the video to make the video more enjoyable, so you don't have to sit through me singing the same exact thing twice. And yes, everything in this video (and much more) is covered in Spare Bedroom Studio in great detail. Everything from the equipment, different types of microphones, mixing, mastering, releasing music, and everything else you care to imagine.
The main thing I was working on was the Spare Bedroom Studio course. It was 46 videos and it took a long time to produce, build the website, set up the marketing, all that good stuff. That being said, I'm so glad to have it completed and ready to launch. I hated that I wasn't uploading to RUclips, it was a major bummer to me. But I'm officially back, I've good 3 other videos already uploaded and scheduled and several more about to be shot. Your boy is back!
That RE20 on the acoustic sounds terrible. Like, damn your cover is good. But I can't get over how distracting the acoustic is in the mix. The synth pads could also use a bit of work but I get the idea was to do this dirty and fast.
What does the 9 minutes even include? Just recording time? And there’s no way he recorded the harmony first. I know it’s possible, but why would you want to do that in a speed recording session?
I mean, of course there's some editing to make it watchable. But all the elements are recorded within the 9 minute timeframe. Yes, I record the 2 harmonies at once, but if you were to double to speed of the timer during that it still would easily come in under 9 minutes. The amount of time I actually spent recording the song is considerably under 9 minutes- even with my explanations. You can call it fake if you want, but I believe it still hits the challenge. Also, yes- I normally wouldn't record the harmonies first. But I wanted to end with the Lead Vocal so I could present the final recording at the end, as that makes for a better video, and that's the most important thing to be successful on this platform.
@@songsbyspencer I guess I’m just confused by the purpose of the 9 minute time limit…. I was expecting you to quickly record the parts one after another. Everyone else seems to like it so you do you I guess.
@landerryan1485 I think the point is a) it's entertaining, b) it concisely shows all the parts start to finish and c) it shows how quick it can be (if you are a pro at all instruments like him). I mean he included a bunch of time of him talking to the camera that wouldn't be there if he were just recording it. He could have said under 10 minutes or some other number - it's an arbitrary benchmark that really doesn't matter.
Man, your midi drum playing is next level! Excellent cover and demo. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
I still can't believe you don't have atleast 500k subs. This content is way too well made
Came here to say basically the same thing. I have a number of my students check out this channel.

The musical genius is back... I enjoyed that.

Long time no see. Thanks for sharing.
Love it. When you said you were going to record the lead vocals as she did, I was expecting to see a blond wig hahaha. maybe next time.
Damn... Next time I'll do it for sure!
You have a lot of talent!!! which you completed with a lot of work and passion. Congratulations!!!!!
Many many thanks

You are awesome 💯❤
I am glad you're back. I was getting a bit worried about your absence. Very cool rendition of the song!

Your playing is so tight! I would just sit 2 hours on the drum track 😂 Just wondering how long it really took
Dude, your channel is amazing. Keep doing what you're doing. 👍👌
Will do! Thanks for watching
So glad to see you again, this made my day!
I'm so glad!

I appreciate that! I've had a great flow of growth over the past month. I'm hoping to keep it going!
@@songsbyspencer you deserve it! Keep on rockin'!
These are fun to do to as an excercise. Our Lips Are Sealed by the GoGos is a good one for this.

Pissening banger like always bruder 💪it sick kpeasutbi
Great effort, but I want to know how you did 4 vocal harmonies simultaneously. Do they teach that in the course. Well played maestro.
