- Today Tyler gets to start his own video series of Decluttering and Cleaning his room! I let him take the lead on how he wanted to clean up his room. I wanted him to feel empowered of how he what he would DeClutter, Clean and his techniques to do that. Being a recovering hoarder, it’s important to catch any hoarding behaviors now. At his age I started developing hoarding behaviors like wanting to keep the packaging of the toy received. I wanted to keep the artwork of the packaging, the “entire energy” of a brand new toy so I could experience that again and again. I was wiring my mind that all material items brought me guaranteed happiness available at any moment by just picking it up. I don’t want this to develop in my boys so I’m teaching them it’s fun to have an organized clean room where they know where all their favorite possessions are…and that happiness comes in so many forms!!

My husband is a Lego designer! Both your boys have his sets on their shelves😃 Makes me very happy!!!
Lego designer? He's living the dream! And he must be very creative 🎨🙂
How Cool! 😊💕🌻🦘
A suggestion as to where you can really help your son is in stemming the flow of new things coming in after he’s put in all this hard work to declutter. Akin to your no spend challenge the children could have a no new toys challenge. It also helps birthday and Christmas become more special when they aren’t getting toys all the time and you’ll find they get more selective about what they really would like as presents. Keep up the good work!
Such a nice job! Tyler can easily get rid of boxes and trash, I wouldn't worry about him
It's ok wanting to keep many toys that are on the floor, because they are probably his favourites. The less loved toys might be inside the bins he can't reach as easily
I learned that on a decluttering video on a kitchen somewhere. They said that it's hard to declutter the surfaces because what ends up there is the stuff we use regularly. But they probably don't have a home because the cabinets are filled with stuff we actually don't use
this is such a good point! wow I never realised it that way - it's especially relevant to people with ADHD like me!
This is so true!
This is so interesting. It's so easy to focus on surfaces, because we see them and can feel the clutter, but if we declutter the stuff that is hidden, we have places to put our favourite things. I have a hard time putting some things away, because my experiences with my parents big house, where stuff just disappeared into "black holes", because they never purged. As a grown up I help them to declutter now and then, it's ok for them, because they are not hoarders, just not interested in initiate any decluttering...
Yes, it was Cass from Clutterbug that said that in a video. She’s great
Interesting though I don’t think it applies to everyone. With my boyfriend a lot of the things on the counters are things he used moths ago and never put them away again (like the medication he needed to use four months ago) or just random things he doesn’t need like something his sister forgot a half year ago and doesnt need or want anymore, old flyers and receipts that are long past their date or an old shoe string he doesn’t know where it came from. Usually when tackling his surface clutter there was enough space in the cabinets to put things back that belonged back and throw things away that have no more use. I think for him it was more that he only remembers putting the things away he uses regularly and has a routine of putting them away after use (like he cleans once a week and after cleaning he puts the cleaning stuff away or he cooks and puts the ingredients away after using them) but things he doesn’t regularly use and then put away immediately just stay out for months, like the medication he once used for 4 days.
I LOVE how he plays with the things he finds! And shook his stuffers hand when he put it in the basket❣️
I'm excited for you and Tyler for decluttering his room. It takes a lot of energy making all of those decisions. I'm happy he is excited to declutter. And Pepper is a great manager. 🐈⬛
Well done, Tyler! Remember to let the container be "the bad guy" as with Tyler's plushies over-flowing the container they are in. Its OK to tell Tyler he can only keep what fits comfortably in a contain and for him to have to learn to make choices because he can't keep everything and have a tidy bedroom. He has SO many toys and studies show kids play better with less and more open ended things they can build and create with. Please try to login the amount of presents they get and declutter some toys before Christmas and birthdays to make room for the new.
This comment reeks of passive aggressive judgement.
Forcing him to get rid of things (your suggestion) rather than empowering him to make decisions (her way) will cause him to form attachment disorders to objects and it will perpetuate hoarding, not healing.
It’s a good idea for you to not give advice on things that you don’t understand.
Hi Tyler! Thanks for sharing your room with us! My 5 year old little girl heard me watching the video and came to sit by me and asked if we could watch from the beginning. So you're both teaching her about decluttering and tidying too! She likes her room clean but has a hard time letting go of things because of "memories." She'll keep practicing!! Thanks again!! Now I'm going to show her Brandon's videos!
Maybe you could have a memory locker for her memory items.
MinimalMom made a good point recently that one of the reasons we struggle to maintain a room after decluttering is because there is too much inventory, and this applies here.
Yes, and if 150 items are decluttered this year, but 200 are received at Christmas, birthdays and purchased next year, there will be another video on the identical topic next year. Decluttering is important, for sure, but after that, it’s about intake/shopping.
Tell Tyler we can’t wait to see the next video of his series! 💖
Toy Story was so formative for me when I was young. I have a natural tendency to attach emotion to items and those movies made me feel so guilty and unloving toward my toys. I would apologize to them if I didn’t play with them for too long. I think what you are doing with their kids is so great. What a great life lesson to learn!
I like how pepper is inspecting the end-results 😉 Good job Tyler!!! 😀👍
Well done Tyler you did brilliant can't wait to see you do the rest of your room.
I’m glad you are helping your boys to declutter. They will always remember that they threw it out and not you. This is a great series.
Great Job Tyler, exited that he is able to clean up his room and make it his as well. Good job for you to let your kids do it themselves as well, they are old enough to make own choices.
Nice work! I love how you are really acting as a support rather than a guide/dictator. You're doing such a great job with your kiddos :)
You are such a good mama ❤️
Awe, thank you so so much ❤️🙏🏻❤️
I'm not sure where to leave this message. I currently found all of your youtube videos. I want to tell you that you are soooo AMAZING and courageous to share all of you with the world. I like how you are so down to earth and give outsiders such a great interpretation of how you are living with a disorder. I do not feel that you are broken as a human. I feel that your purpose is to share your story with the world. I feel grateful to you for helping me and others understand this disorder. I just think you are amazing and wish the best for you and your family. Trish in Denver
Awe!!! You made my heart so happy incredibly happy!! Thank you so so much for your encouraging message, you keep me motivated to keep going!!!
Way to go, Tyler!
Great job, Tyler!
What a great start of the new series, Tyler! The room looked so much bigger after just one episode. :) Have a great weekend!
omg go Tyler! The excitement and pride he shows in his favourite toys is catching, loved to watch it - and sergeant pepper helping 😍 you're doing brilliantly!
Two thumbs up Tyler!! Great job mate. 😊💕💕🌻🦘
Excellent job Tyler! Keep up the good work!
It's so lovely that Tyler is so motivated to decluter his bedroom
Tell Tyler, "Great job!" He made fantastic progress in his room. Looking forward to his next video! (Good job to you, too, mama!)
Way to go, Tyler! 💙 You hit the nail on the head when you mentioned that we shouldn’t humanize our stuff. I totally agree. I didn’t even realize I was going that! 😳 So powerful! Thank you so much for sharing! 💗
Way to go Tyler! And you’re being such a great mama helping your boys learn these important skills!
Well done Tyler! You did a great job, all of us watching and Ms. Pepper approves 😻

Good job to you too ! 👍
Way to go Tyler! He did an amazing job and his room is already looking very nice! Happy for him and you!
Great job Tyler! 👏🏻🥰
Pepper is a wonderful guest star.
Good job tyler and mom! At one point you weren't able to let go of the toys and now you're passing the decision power onto them. Huge leaps and bounds.
Just my usual well done! so proud! also great job to both your boys :) You have come SUCH a long way in both your views and relationship w/decluttering since your first video. I love getting to witness part of this journey every video upload!
Wow, Tyler, great job! 👏👏👏🥳 And great job Momma, steering your children away from hoarding! 👏👏👏👏👏❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
I love your kitty she's so cute ❣️🐾🐈
Pepper is so cute!!
Well done 😊I remember a time when I was younger when I was always told not to throw/give things away that where gifted to me from relatives🙄 even if I didn't like them I had to keep them😔
You know I just know thought about something. I'm 62 and I don't recall ever telling my parents how bad I was bullied in grade school either. I don't remember ever talking about it.
It was just some thing I dealt with at school as a little kid. Isn't it sad that our kids don't talk to us or at least we didn't. I hope kids these days are more able to talk about this sort of thing because it sure is life-changing when you're bullied all the time.
I have no hoarding disorder but definitely tendencies. Especially with toys. Yesterday we went for buying a present for a friend of my child. And it was really a struggle to resist the temptation to buy something for us, especially because there were nice sales.😅
Good job Tyler!!❤️
Im so excited for this series!!
I love your decluttering series! I just love your videos period! ❤️❤️
Just be careful because I think some things you say are encouraging him to keep things. Make sure that everything that goes to the basement is decluttered first!
Good job Tyler!!
Nice work! I suggest adding plushies to your no spend challenge!
Hello from Germany, Hi Miss Heart, hello Tyler and a miow to pepper. Good Job, be safe
Love this series!! Tyler did a great job! Maybe a basement playroom declutter or organization video next?
Awe! That’s a great idea!! Thank you!!
He did such a great job! Keep it up Tyler!
I have been following you since the beginning of the pandemic. Usually I don’t comment because I watch on my TV an there is no way to comment there. You have come a long way girl. And you have enlightened me on what I have gone through. I too have come a very long way. I love the new me and the new you too.
Tyler showing off what all of his toys do is too cute!! Good job mama!!!
I love how respectful you are of your boys. Tyler, you make me feel inspired to clean my room.
Bravo Tyler! You accomplished a lot in this video! Well done young man!
Well done Tyler 👏 that was brilliant. Delighted you have your own series too. The space in your room already is great. I love that Pepper checks that all is going well. Miss Heart ❤️ your so mindful of your childrens feelings, boundaries and limits well done to you too 👍👏 Stay safe and healthy. Mary, Joes wife 👏👍💐🙏🐈
I hope this isn’t taken wrong but how did the boys get so many toys? Do they shop for them, gifts for all occasions? Grandma and grandpa? So much has to be overwhelming for them. Love your channel. Donna
Nicely Done!! I love that he is making the choices. You are setting a great example and so is his Brother. Keep up the great work!
Your laughter over Pepper’s paw😸😻
You go Tyler. Thank you for sharing. God bless
Great job, Tyler! Great job, Ms. Heart!

Go Tyler ... Good Job!!
Both of your guys do an amazing job. Keep doing Tyler, your Will get in. God bless your family.
My plan for Spring Break in 2 weeks is to reset my kids rooms. I’m not looking forward to it. Not the way I want to spend my days off but hopefully I can apply your organization principles.
Tyler! What a great job!! Yes, even making the bed makes such a difference. I am bad with keeping empty boxes too. Maybe watching you I will get rid of my empty boxes!!👍👍
Go Tyler!!!!! That is so sweet he wanted to get into the action too. Great let go pile!
Great work Tyler!
Good job Tyler it's a start!! Thumbs up 👍
Great job Tyler you are a cleaning machine pepper is going to love playing in your new clean room.
Proud of Tyler and you friend. ❤️❤️❤️
Love Pepper the Declutter Manager. Way to go Tyler ! I see Tyler loves his Cat plushies and has several...keep them all. Maybe some of the smaller plushies can go in a plastic container or in one of the containers under the bed. I love plushies and own several....hard to part with them. If someone has a giant plushie instead of getting rid of it..just oven up the back seam and pull out the cottonpoly stuffing...keeping the skin....Build A Bear has the skins then puts the cottonpoly inside. Unstuffing the larger plushies and keeping the skin works for when you have to move somewhere new.
Honestly I love your videos recently. They are peaceful and calm and enjoyable.
Good job Tyler
Well done, both of you!
Good job, Tyler!
Pepper is the cutest manager 💜
Great job Tyler. Keep up the good work buddy. So proud of you. ❤️👍🏼💕
He did a fantastic job congratulations 🎊 👏
Great job you two!!!
Great job! I’d love to buy/inherit the Pokémon Cards your kids let go of! :) my kis get only a small about and they love them!
Well done Tyler and momma. Xx
Way to go, Tyler! GREAT JOB! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I’m so glad to see your boys making such strides!!!! - and *you* - right alongside them.✊😘 I absolutely DO know how hard it can be to watch our kids “cast aside” so much - especially of what *we* have given to them … but we as Mommas/parents need to remember that God put our children in our lives to not only help us learn patience, humility, and sooo many other life lessons and fruits of the Spirit - but to be examples of how *FREE* we can be if we simply practice not holding on to too much (or *letting go* on a regular basis). Oh wow … what a concept, eh? (((((((HUGS))))))) Thank you once again for shedding more light on ‘the’ struggle.
PS- I am so proud of YOU - and your boys!!!!
Great work Tyler.
Fantastic job Tyler!! That was quite a tossy tossy pile! Your room looks so much tidier! 😀👏🏻
Great job Tyler 😊❤️
Tyler is so into decluttering n that's great 👍👍! Well done n keep it up! Can't wait to see his next decluttering video 😂😂! Happy weekend to u too 🙏🙏🙏
Awe, thank you so so much my sweet friend ❤️🙏🏻❤️
Tyler did Amaziiiiiiingggggg!
I was rewatching a lot of your videos recently and it’s clear that you are more than capable of successfully decluttering a space, cleaning it and making it look lovely however it seems to me that they consistently get recluttered again and apart from continuing to declutter and minimise your belongings I would suggest that you really really need to stem the flow of things coming in and adopt a “ do it now “ policy by that I mean if a mess is made it must be cleaned up straight way by whoever made it ( no excuses ) ..if its trash or tossy tossy it needs to be trashed immediately … if stuff does come in it needs to be dealt with straight away …I only say this because I desperately want you to achieve your dreams and goals for your home but unless you start adopting these habits you will end up going round and round in circles . The thing is ,I know you can do it because look how much you have achieved already ! It’s amazing ..so I know you can get some momentum going with this and get that basement and garage done and maintain a beautiful space .We are all cheering you on every step of the way ❤️❤️❤️
great job Tyler & Pepper! >🤗💗🙏🏻😻
proud on you, he did a amazing job. He has a lot of stuff. a tip is not getting giff for his birthday's and christmas but getting a ticket for the zoo or to the cinema that kind of things. if a container of bookself is full say that container is full. fit what you love in there the rest get donating. it getting easyer when he has less stuff to maintain it. you can do it with Tyler. big hug Ellen
Such a wonderful idea!!! Thank you so much my sweetest friend ❤️🙏🏻❤️
@@ahoardersheart you are welcome mine friend. i hope that i help you just a little to make it easyer.
Love these cleaning videos will you be doing the basement videos to
I don't know if this is an issue for you boys, but if they struggle with ADHD symptoms at all, radically decreasing screentime has been shown to reduce those problems. Have you ever thought of moving the gaming stuff out of their rooms to the basement?
🦄 yay!
Good job, Tyler and mom!🙌
Toys are just hard to declutter and organize. Toys have lots of micro categories😮💨
Super
Good job!
Great job !! Keep it up
I don't know if it would be too tall for where he wants it, but the TV dock for the Nintendo switch can also be used as a charging dock without connecting it to a TV. It would give it more defined home and help prevent it from charging on the floor where it can be stepped on.
😻😻😻👏👏👏 Go Tyler!
❤❤❤❤❤❤
