Things were a mess and I had to make sure that I was not liable for taxes and sort out what I owed payments on. I was looking for a special accountant to handle it and I was trying to get the banking information set up. Also I was unsure if I had to claim it before I donated it so I needed legal help and wanted multiple opinions on any potential liability. Plus I had to make sure that who I was donating to was a legitimate receiver."

      @wedge9t 2 года назад +1

      I work in the fundraising sector a Pledge is actually considered a type of Donation, it is a commitment to making a specific gift investment over a set amount of time, typically three to five years, unlike a Single Gift (often called a Donation Payment) that is often paid immediately.
      Amber's Donation Pledge was a Pledge of $7 Million was split 50% between ACLU and a Children's Hospital in LA and was to be paid in quarterly installments starting in 2016, the main issue is that she hasn't honoured any of the Installment payments that was agreed on in the Pledge, so no Pledge Payments have been received.
      Other gift types are Recurring gifts (similar to a pledge although smaller and often continue indefinitely) and Planned gifts both of which have a Donation (declaration) and Payment.
      For example I can make a Planned gift to leave $1 Million Dollars that will be paid on my death to a University, I will be considered a donor as of making the Planned Gift Donation and not just when the payment is received (post-mortem).
