Awesome interview. I need to really listen to more EMPEROR. I like what he said about Ghost though, they do put on a great show. No clue why all the hate. Ghost is good for metal in general.
Great interview! I just have a suggestion if it would be possible: as a very long time fan of Ihsahn's music, I did not come across any questions about Peccatum. I wonder if someone will ever do such an interview but I'd really wish to hear the whole story of Peccatum sometime, like many many others I guess :)
That’s a great point about Peccatum. I’ll be honest I didn’t vibe with it, so apart from perhaps asking him what’s happening with it, I had little to offer via a question. I remember when it came out and thought he was preparing the audience for the end of Emperor. It was kind of true; as a creative artefact, it’s over. At least they’re still performing the material live.
Was lucky enough to see Peccatum live when they opened for Emperor here in the US back in the late 90s on the IX Equilibrium tour. The other two members were his ex-wife and her brother. They divorced years ago so that out the kibosh on the band .
