The game coverage had a vintage salute straight from the golden age of rabbit ears....but it was not the first such acknowledgement of baseball carving a technological path from radio to TV.
In 2000, FOX Sports aired a portion of the August 26th Dodgers-Cubs game in black and white to commemorate the 61st anniversary of the first televised baseball game (August 26, 1939).......with Keith Olbermann playing the role of host, historian and wise-crackin' newspaper beat reporter -- in period attire.
