Reevaluate what we think of the past= "Cleopatra was a subsuharan african" (ignore the fact she has a greek name and she is from a heavily inbred greek dynasty)
There is so much better about the past like fashion and architecture. The enormous flaw with modern buildings is they lack culture and a sense of time and place. So many modern buildings are bland and lifeless. A big chunk of glass and concrete could be found anywhere. Everything homogenizes too much. Not everywhere has to look the same. Plus the past was wiser in many ways compared to the present. Now everyone is overly coddled and the softness is even backed by law. In the past people knew that personal comfort wasn't the most important thing and things like honor and duty are important. Everywhere in the world had some form of aristocracy because hierarchy is part of human nature. The problem isn't hierarchy or nobility but when specific aristocrats aren't loyal to their nation and people and others suffer for it. Men also wore a far bigger range of colors yet now people make fun of certain outfits for the crime of not being bland and boring. Hopefully modern delusions get cycled out of fashion and people come to their senses
Not only have not invented the wheel. They have been given the wheel, multiple times, and forgotten how to use it. Egyptians gave it, Chinese gave it, middle east gave it and Europe gave it. And every time, they forgot how "round thing makes moving heavy stuff easier" in between. And, if Europe stopped shipping food to them every year, they would probably forget how to use the wheel again, in less than 50 years.

A few other European countries also contributed to that. I do like to reenforce the reality that if it weren't for the West and Britain the concept of slavery would not be considered an evil. No African people, or Asian, etc. perceived it as as immoral until the West taught the world it is, and Britain led the way.

Douglas Murray’s description of social-justice ideology, in his book The Madness Of Crowds. He describes it as - - ‘a religion with no word for forgiveness’.
I would also add that it essentially has a chattel class - those who are not the beneficiaries of the politics are ironically given the lowest esteem, despite working with the cause for virtue and no expectation of reward. As a result, the moral paradigm is inverted, with those most hungrily seeking to gain - and their behavior reflecting that consumptive mindset - essentially giving orders to the beaten-down 'good ones' they demand fill their ranks. The whole thing could not be more obviously evil in its conception and framework if you tried; even as a mostly brainwashed teen lured into the movement by a cute goth girl, I could tell the propaganda didn't match their actions, and was routinely shamed and indirectly struggle-sessioned for my primitive thinking.
At a dinner party recently and I was chatting to a couple; Nigerians living and working in the UK. They were less than impressed with what their kid was learning in school during BHM. They found it rather patronising - it was a narrative of victimhood and rather Anglo-American in outlook - not reflective of their history. Their little girl regaled us with her knowledge of Cetshwayo and the Zulus. The father rolled his eyes at me; "Do we now forget", he asked "That the Zulus were also empire builders"? The dinner party set was very liberal, so to hear these sentiments from these particular guests was really rather eye-opening.

The name Victoria being Latin and not English is inherently stupid, as England was part of the Roman empire, which in itself was an integral part of British history. It's like telling an Irish person their name is Celtic, and not Irish.
It's beyond moronic: like there is no such thing as languages mixing and mingling, loan words, etc. That said, the name Victoria was almost non-existent in the English-speaking countries until the 1800s.
England was never a part of the Roman Empire. England as a country existed approximately 600 years after the Romans left this island. Why don't you know this?

I remember getting a world history with atlas book in the mid-90s, as a child for Christmas. All these years later I released it was authored by Caroline Lucas MP. All our education materials were seemingly written by people that hate Britain.
I remember watching horrible histories with my son and daughter about twenty years ago. I enjoyed it and so did they. I'm glad they grew out of it before it turned into what it is now.
One of the worst things about these ridiculous histories is the total lack of nuance and context. An example would be Tea, both the Indians and the Chinese fight over who the Brits stole Tea from but the reality is the British were introduced to Tea in China and it was a specific strain of Tea plant, by todays standards, rather weak and very specific to the region. The Chinese had kept these plants cultivation top themselves, much like how the French treated the Champagne grape. The Brits realised they could take Chinese cuttings to India and grow it in abundance in Indias very fertile soil and that they could cross pollinate and alter plants to create a wider variety of Tea plants, so they did. Of course the Indians grabbed some of these plants for themselves and in true Indian entreuperniship they grew them on their land with no backlash from the British about patented plants, etc. Indians basically got rich from the Brits inovations with Chinese tea plants and by doing so, royally pissed of the Chinese to this day.
The British invented tea. The Chinese had a crude prototype; no-one likes it and we don’t even call it tea - we call it “China tea” to distinguish it from real tea. It’s made from a similar but not identical plant. The plant grows in India, but Indians had never thought of making a drink from it till Britons showed them how. Tea is British.
Exactly. Go anywhere else in the world and you will be served a wretched approximation of tea. Same as beer, others make it but none can make a decent pint of cask bitter.
Tea leaves are mainly grown in India. As a drink, tea originated in China and South East Asia. It was popularised in Britain from the 17th century onwards. Before the East India Company imported tea, the British mostly drank coffee.
Spot on point at the end. Every grammar school boy now in his 50s/60s and well off wants grammar schools abolished. Its called 'pulling up the ladder after you'.
I started in Britain's motor Industry in te 1970s. From then to now, there has been a steady decline. One of my global contacts was Hitachi, who manufacured a British designed motor cat part. They had the semiconductor manufacturing site. On a visit, the Hitachi Engineers admitted they couldn't do the design. They are expert in manufacturing. The Japanese motor and motorcycle manufacturers poached British Engineers from British Leyland, Triumph Motorcycles and most of the other bike makers. Most of the Far East bikes you see, were designed by Brits. Motorcar Engineers from Coventry went to BMW, Mercedes and Volkswagen in their droves. What you buy may be made in another country, but it was designed by a Brit. What sunk the British motor industry was the Unions, backed by the Labour Party of the 1970s, Wilson and Callaghan. At British Leyland, 'Red Robbo' took the workforce out because Staff had liquid soap, while Works had tablet soap. The Union complained that multi-using a tablet of soap was degrading.
I am sad to say, you are absolutely right. The unions were run by communists and they set out to destroy this country. Starmer and the woke brigade are determined to finish what they started.

Dominic Sandbrook, of The Rest is History, has started to write a very promising series "Adventures in Time" aimed at children. DS is an actual historian and has a great way of putting himself into the shoes of those from past times, rather than sitting in sanctimonious judgement on them. Doesn't whitewash the bad stuff; doesn't overplay the good stuff.
My son loved H M Sealey's "Time Flies" set in the Civil War. She's a brilliant author and completely overlooked because her dystopian novels dare to point out how dangerous stuff like identity politics is becoming. Her Christian fantasy series weaves in a huge amount of British history too.
I own one of the books, "The Measly Middle Ages." Got it many years ago. Basically it's "stuff that was wicked gross about the Middle Ages, presented as though people were too stupid to be anything other than brutal and gross." I took it as a humor book for 10-year old boys, not a real teaching aid. It's revolting to think that is being taught to kids as actual history.

I remember reading them as a bairn. I loved how the romans beat the English by only fighting on weekends and during afternoon tea. I also loved Asterix dealing with bureaucracy as well.
This is quite chilling when I remember things that I would hear as a child and adolescent and go on to believe those things as gospel. As kids without any real lived experience we can be quite easily swayed and impressionable. So to tell kids “your nation’s heritage is inherently evil and so many of the privileges you benefit from by being British born are unearned” is such a sickeningly evil thing to do
Yes, children can and are being imprinted with falsehoods by activist-teachers and leftist media. That's why activists and 'academics' like David Olusoga and Terry Deary produce anti-white propaganda books aimed at primary-aged children. The left targets children so that it controls them for life.

Instead of asking where the tea came from, ask how we got it and how was it proliferated across the globe. Through the inate desire to explore and adventure, the need to showcase what we've learned, the understanding that other cultures have much to offer. The quintessentially ENGLISH character.
So what's wrong with tea? British merchants always paid for their goods. It's called trade - unlike cattle raiding, which was still going on in Africa at the time.
@anthonyclent6240 It's wrong because it's English. It doesn't matter how we developed it, it doesn't matter that until we came along it was pretty much picked wild, and we cultivated one of the biggest trade routes, enriching a 3rd of the planet, because we could. It just matters that it's English. Ergo, it's bad
We need a political party in power where the politicians do what they're supposed to do. The BBC aren't allowed to spend tax payer's money funding programmes that are intended to mislead people. Politicians have the power to take action and ensure that the BBC respects their mandate and, if necessary, sack the senior BBC staff who ignore it.
English culture is important. I am blessed to have learned what it means to be an Englishman - from my English Grandfather. (Even if I am a colonist from across the pond 🤣)
A 'reevaulation of our past' at this point would mean starting to look far more fondly at our history. The relentless critique of Britain and its history has been going on for literally my entire life and I'm in my mid-fifties now.
The reality is that the Anglo-Saxons took over pretty much all of modern England. For 200 years they established themselves and the local Britons either adapted to the new power structure and culture or were labelled foreigners and given less rights. The vikings came and carved out a huge chunk in the north, ending Northumbrian superiority and indirectly leading to the creation of Scotland. England was finally and formally united in 927 meaning that England has existed for over a thousand years. During that time the population has remained almost entirely the same, that is what the current lot want to pretend isn't the case. England is almost 1100 years old and there are churches that still exist from that period and even older ones, plus of course the people.
This makes me so angry. The BBC ruin everything about our history. Even Wolf Hall was ruined for me with the amount of black people at the court of Henry VIII. The sister of Jane Seymour, Elizabeth, was not black!
You know the worst part about these new horrible history episodes, is that during its first run back in 2009 it had a 99% accuracy rating about history. Higher than your average history show. Only ever made 2 mistakes, one was a genuine mistake and the other was accurate at the time of airing but something new was discovered which made the story in the show inaccurate. Can’t imagine that flawless record is gonna stay so clean for much longer.
I've had to deprogram my kids from some of the stuff they see on TV and learn from schools. The big one is native american history. I do explain that some of the things we did to them were bad, and we did conquer a lot of land from them. But also they conquered all of it from each other constantly before we arrived. We essentially ended the constant conquering and wars they continuously fought for resources. Now I'm having to explain to my daughter the difference between american slavery and ancient historical slavery. I actually think it's not necessarily bad that she's getting this, because I am given opportunities to explain things to her so she will naturally grow to have a healthy amount of distrust of what they are taught in school.
Yes, my primary teacher sister confirms leftist bias is institutional. All blue eyed types are descendants of European hunter gatherers. Blue eyed people tend to have blonde hair, tan with a golden hue and have particular face and body shapes. Or they are gingers with their own set of ungodly traits. The genes for the traits of those groups came from somewhere. The most logical conclusion is they came as a package with the blue eyes. Therefore the European hunter gatherers may well have looked like your average blonde from Hampshire or Sweden or a ginger from Scotland.

There was a docuseries a few years ago from Sky Atlantic of all places called The British which was brilliantly informative and patriotic. It made you proud to be British at the end of every episode. I highly recommend watching this with your kids.
I'd love to hear the BBC's explanation for how lighter eye and hair colours came to be. If early Britons were black, how did they acquire genetic traits that literally have never existed in black people
Um evolution and natural selection affect dramatic morphological changes on any species over a long enough timeframe and even more so under significant changes environmental pressures. Everyone comes from “black people” (Saharan Africa) if you follow our collective genetic lineages back far enough. It’s just that superficial mutations accumulate and tribes that moved further North into lands that experienced colder weather and less sunlight slowly had the genes that activate high melanocyte expression and melanin production slowly go largely dormant. Mind you not entirely dormant. If you can tan at all, it means your hereditary genetic adaptation for melanocyte expression is still fairly functional (the poor red headed, fair skinned, Celtic descendants just tend to burn because their genetic expression for that is all but deactivated). The whole point of that adaptation is to protect from tissue and genetic damage from higher exposure to solar radiation. It’s why the trait breeds so true in Africa and people of direct African descent. Keeping yourself able to be active in daylight, able to synthesize vitamin D, while not burning and developing skin cancer is a pretty useful trait in the sunnier parts of the world. Nature does its best to adapt organisms to environmental pressures. So our skin, individually and over generations, tends to adapt to however much light you’re getting. We can’t synthesize vitamin D in our bodies without it, but like with anything, too much can wreck you. Every mole and “dark spot” on your epidermis is part of your skin that didn’t quite get the genetic message to “shut off” high melanocyte activity. It’s the part of you that still thinks you’re “black”. (There are actually two primary melanin molecules that can express from modified melanocytes in humans, thus why we have skin pigmentations ranging from “yellow, to olive skinned, to red, to brown, to black, etc”. Eumelanin and pheomelanin. Eumelanin generates darker skins, pheomelanin generated lighter skins. I’ve read a fair bit of biological text on the subject out of sheer curiosity about how the adaptation developed and functions. We just call it “race” because we’re a fractious, violent, often tribal and irrational species that likes to find simple excuses to bash each other.)
@@scionofdorn9101 As a fair-skinned redhead of Irish descent, what you said makes me very happy. I don't think we're "poor" at all. Just lucky. Black people are more likely to be Vitamin D deficient because their melanin blocks the UVB radiation needed to create the Vitamin D their bodies need.
When I hear those arguments against Britain, I vigorously shut them down by rejecting their framing of the arguments and call them out as just being hateful towards Britain and its people.
I love the "technically, that didn't come from britain argument". You get in early and give your children history books which you can trust and playlists of history programmes you know to be accurate but above all pass on culture verbally, don't rely on teachers or strangers to do it for you. This is like the Cheddar Man fantasy, that the individual whose skeleton was found in a cave in Cheddar Gorge (I believe Gough's Cave) had blue eyes & a brown skin, but was also related to a man who taught in the local school. As someone who also taught in the local school (once upon a time) I can assure you that the 'cave man relative' did not have a brown skin!
I note they never refuted the old claim that light skin pigmentation was a result of evolving to live in a less sunny environment. The population that Cheddar Man came from followed the ice sheets as they retreated north but we're supposed to believe an equatorial skin colouring? The actual researchers involved did not postulate on skin colour, now we're seeing these facial reconstructions also being given African noses and that is purely subjective. Skulls cannot determine the soft tissues in a nose, those are guessed at based on what group the individual is thought to have come from. These reconstructions should all have caucasian noses, especially as the few ancient faces found - primitive sculptures from Gravettian art - do show features aligned with modern European ones. Given that these art works showing European like features predate Cheddar Man by several thousand years it would seem likely that Cheddar Man himself was Caucasian looking - colouring aside.

I can’t stand this ideology of undermining everything British. They don’t mention that Britain has made great innovations and developments towards human history than the entirety of Africa or the subcontinent. Things could change in the future of course but it’s a historical fact. As is that all the successful human groups were those that moved from the cradle of humanity as they had to evolve and adapt to new environments. White Europeans are also the most successful people in history. Even gunpowder that the Chinese invented (East Asians have often been very successful), wasn’t used for anything other than pretty lights in the sky. It took Europeans to give it a game changing use.
And all of history was pretty horrible compared to much of today. Look at Africa or places where POCs come from. There were just as horrible things happening to every day people. The horrific slave trade in Africa to the Middle East or caste systems in the sub continent for example. No one on earth can look back on their whole history without going yuck a lot.

Yet now, 'designer' tablet soap commands a boutique premium in many retail outlets.
The British motor industry, like all other industry was intentionally bumped off.

The most worrying aspect of all this is the insidious way they're targeting kids, who will soak all this propaganda up like sponges

The Western Hunter Gatherers were very likely darker than us and they all had blue eyes. They were not black and they were not African.
6:55 - "oi, u got a loicense for watching our anti-British communistic slop?"
When I hear those arguments against Britain, I vigorously shut them down by rejecting their framing of the arguments and call them out as just being hateful towards Britain and its people.
Always reframe nonsense from leftwads into an ‘ism. Their arguments rely on denying nature/reality so can’t be taken seriously.
I love the "technically, that didn't come from britain argument". If we want to be that pedantic, why not just simplify the conversation and say "actually, that originally came from a single celled organism from the ocean that later developed into land based multi-cellular organisms on the super continent of pangea. Does this make a conversation better? No. All it does is show everyone that you are engaging in the childish line of logic of "my feet are still on the floor because my bum is on the chair, and the chair is on the floor, and technically my feet are touching the air..." blah blah blah.
The origin of life is still kinda unknown but let's just say LUCA (Last Universal Common Ancestor)
Deconstructionist arguments are only ever applied one way, to deconstruct Western identity and society. It falls apart the moment you ask even one real question.
You've subverted the whole vegan argument, why stop at animals??? We're all the same (passes blunt) mannnn, why stop at plants mannnn.
@@miotyuori7331The base root of veganism is literally just "animals are sentient -> you are sentient -> you do not like being eaten = therefor animals also don't like being eaten".
The only problem with this is that this set of pre-suppositions only establishes the following:
1) Animals are in group A.
2) Humans are in group A.
3) Humans are also in group B.
So animals must also be in group B.
The problem is that this does not even follow by necessity, even if you accept all their pre-suppositions at face value.
Even using logical reasoning reasources designed for 5 year olds can get this conclusion. As you even pointed out, childish argumentation can often echo actual vegan activism, almost to a scary degree.
If it wasn’t for the diseases, we wouldn’t have the cures. Thanks diseases!
The first couple of series were very good, I've still got the boxset knocking around somewhere.
Now it's something very different.
I'm guessing it was just as bad, just less obvious and you less aware.

The last BBC4 programme I saw on children's television involved Michael Rosen complaining that Camberwick Green didn't undermine authority figures enough
"Is it Gene Hunt?"
"is he kicking in a nonce?"
We're living in a crazy sh*tshow.
yes and there is far too much shit on the stage !!
It's up to the public to take back our culture. We need to rise together and boycott the national television networks.
There's no excuse not to do it, only laziness
Even the Australian Aboriginals who have been there tens of thousands of years may not have been the first people to set foot on that continent. See: Mungo Man. The Maoris of New Zealand only came to those islands in around 1400 AD and appear to have genocided a people that were there previously. We have a bloodless claim to our homeland - there was no one living there when we came because no one could inhabit it before we came. Yet they will not credit us as being Indigenous. It can't be because of race-mixing with Romans, Vikings etc. either because someone who is 90% European and 10% Native American would never be told they are not genuinely Native American, right?
They don't allow us to think of ourselves as the indigenous people in our own homelands because we might fight back if we did. We would also be entitled to protection under international law if we were.
Actually, being from the US myself, it has to be proven that you actually have 10% of their DNA in order to be considered one of them. It also has to be from a particular tribe. If there's no proof and a white person claims it, either they don't believe them or they say it doesn't matter. They're still white.
they need to rename to Habib Histories
They are now selling black santa toys in Tesco in Glasgow.

I don't care what physics says, snowmen were always black.

You can see what brilliantly skilled builders black Africans are by the magnificent civilisations they built in Africa before moving on to build Europe… oh, wait 🥴
You see, you can’t see the utopia they built bc it’s disguised. It’s this whole thing. Lol
What's weird is that I'm a Yank and I'm even familiar with this series. We had the Horrible Histories books in school in the '90s, and I remember enjoying them.
Quite simple, stop allowing them to jail people in secret courts for watching TV without a licence
When I was a kid (30 now) I was subscribed to the Horrible Histories magazine and really loved it. I don't ever remember seeing anti-British sentiment in it, it just showed the good and bad aspects of British history, the same as it did for all other nations and empires it covered. It never tried to browbeat about race either, even when covering slavery. It's really depressing to see how even things like HH are falling to the same subsersive, pseudo-intellectual self-flagellation, and even worse considering it's directly targeting kids who don't know any better. Parents have a real tough job on their hands these days. It seems like you have to either watch over your children like a hawk, being super selective about what they're taught and exposed to, or you have to accept that they're going to be programmed by the state and it's minions.
Showing the good and bad is just framing, hurr durr we show both sides. But how bad are the baddies and how good are the goodies and is one only highlighted as forced by circumstance to be a baddie and the other just accidentally doing good?
It was captured by Social Justice / Woke ideology after in more recent years.
@@miotyuori7331 To be fair, a lot of the good and bad in the more... controversial parts of history are accidental either way. ...Or caused more by incompetence for the evil side.
@@miotyuori7331 The Iron Law of Social Justice: If a beneficiary class of social justice participates in evil, it was forced upon them by circumstance, and if they participate in willing evil, it was justified by the evil of others, and if they do any good, it is always more goody-good than the good their oppressors have achieved.
If an oppressor class participates in evil, it was due to their inherent evil, if it was forced upon them by circumstance, it is because they are inherently incompetent, and if they participate in willing evil, it is because they were always like that beneath the surface, and if they do any good, it was surely a lesser good than what the beneficiary class would ever have achieved.
You get in early and give your children history books which you can trust and playlists of history programmes you know to be accurate but above all pass on culture verbally, don't rely on teachers or strangers to do it for you. I think the problem is that the average adult doesn't really care about culture enough to push it in the home so the children end up as empty boxes waiting to be filled with something. If family wont pass on traditions then others with less than stellar intent will do it for you.
I used to love horrible histories as a kid. It's sad to see what it's become.
There is a theory that the Europeans started life in Britain and France, not Ethiopia. This makes more sense than the Europeans becoming white from black.
Its probably the reason why the original cast of horrible histories left when the bbc told them to use the show as anti british propaganda
"no one's got a corner on that definition of what makes us British" He says as he's making money doing that
Fantastic discussion
Excellent analysis Carl

I'm Croatian and I read those books when I was a kid, both about history and science. I have them still at home.
2:10 There are literally Horrible Histories songs about all the things invented by Brits. About Victorian Brits, no less!
You do know that the skin changed over time? The colour of it changed. It is scientifically proven.
@TheMarquisLovenorn which skin, on which person, the skin colour recently provided for the Goughs Cave Skeleton is merely speculation!
@@TheMarquisLovenornNo. What is a proven fact however is that any meat product left out of the fridge turns brown.
So if preserved in some form. Be it in a bog or salted etc. It will turn brown and remain brown.

Perhaps lotus eaters should try their hand at kids shows. Create entertaining, accurate, positive historical shows for kids so that they still get all information and entertainment, but arent getting poisoned.
They'll just get hate and sneered at by the people who like to say we need an alternative, look at the Daily Wire.
I don’t think any of the current presenters would be suitable. HH draws bairns in because it’s fun, light hearted, energetic, a little silly and sometimes a bit gross and uncouth. I can’t imagine Connor or Dan for example dressing up and singing. Stelios and Rory might but not the others.
@@JAIGH83 You'd get others to do that, you wouldn't want people associated with serious content to do kiddy stuff anyway, it detracts from the serious stuff. The point itself is valid, there should be something for parents to show their younger kids.
@@Adam-sd2ow Yeah, I've seen saberspark attack Chip Chilla. "How dare that father teach his children to be self reliant". Makes you wonder.
I used to dad HH but now I'm left wondering what's real and what was dross. Also, a few things England invented includes Common Law (Magna Carta), Light bulb (Humphrey Davies), Pyshics (Sir Isaac Newton) and Vaccines Edward Jenner). In fact a Japanese company did some research and found that about 48% of the world's indentations come from England. Also altering History was something Joseph Stalin did in the 50s I believe.
Whats the odds and overs of the people behind this are all part of the same sneaky tribe?
They were here first but they just went off for thousands of years...
