    Exactly what I needed to hook up my second tank. My first one lasted two years so I forgot how I did it the first time. Thank you.

    It's worth looking up the Myth Busters video where they knock the valve off a pressure tank. The tank shot thru block walls with no problem - and didn't stop moving until the tank was empty. Extremely dangerous!

    Thanks for posting this. I used this video to initially hook up my Ar/CO2 tank, but could not remember if I needed teflon tape or not. Just swapping out my first tank, very helpful video.

    Thank you man! I just bought my first bottle today and this is a huge help when I hook it up.

    Thanks bro .seriously I bought two 300 cubic full tanks from someone on offer up the had the caps but the regulator where still on I put them in the back of my chevy sonic hatchback. If you know what car I'm talking about it very tiny I drove for miles with these bottles bouncing around thank God they did explode. I know nothing about welding just bought a Lincoln le31 in now I have two big full bottles. this video helped me out a lot. Lol I was shiting bricks just connecting the bottle's I haven't even started the welder .I'm hoping this video give me a lil courage to start welding for the first time. My wife keeps looking through are surveillance cameras just to see if I haven't blown anything up .once again thanks!

    Exactly the information I was looking for . Very well presented . Thanks !

      +James Coyne Thanks James. Technically I should have been standing on the opposite side of the regulator in case something went wrong when I first cracked the valve. I was in a tight spot in my shop with the camera and should have positioned myself differently. Keep in touch. Allan

    Thanks. I was having trouble finding a video that just explains this part of MIG welding. Even my Hobart manual offered minimum steps. I wondered why I should not use Teflon tape. Great vid.

      That information came from my guys at Alamo Welding in Austin,TX. A family business since 1963. In the video I was standing on the wrong side of the regulator when I cracked it open if I wanted to be super safe. So If there was a failure it would blow the opposite direction from my body. Thanks for writing Cliff. I just think learning to use a MIG welder is one of the most useful things a woodworker can learn. That is why I made this series.

    Absolutely correct. But I could not get the camera and the shot I wanted positioned in my small shop. But you are right, the regulator arm should have been pointed at open space if that was the moment it was going to get ugly. Thanks for noting that.

    There is a great Mythbusters episode that shows cleaving the regulator off a CO2 cylinder and it rocketed through a cinder block wall.

      In welding school and they drilled this kind of info in us. Yes,basically turns into a torpedo and can go through concrete walls with ease.

    I'm just curious, whats the capacity of that gas bottle and rated pressure?

  • @AskWoodMan
    @AskWoodMan  11 лет назад

    The two gas flow rates on the dial are CFH cubic feet per hour and LPM liters per minute.

    when removing a tank that is empty what are basic steps? Do you have to bleed the lines? or do you just take it off?

    • @AskWoodMan
      @AskWoodMan  8 лет назад

      I always bleed the lines each time I shut the machine down when I am done welding for a while. Not if I am just stopping for lunch or taking a break to get parts ready. So this way if the lines are clear, just remove the regulator and put on the protective valve cover and take the bottle to your gas supply shop for a replacement or refill.

    • @TheImabitch69
      @TheImabitch69 8 лет назад

      +AskWoodMan ok thank you so much and how do you go about bleeding your lines?

    • @AskWoodMan
      @AskWoodMan  8 лет назад

      With the machine on, just turn the pressure setting t-valve on the regulator all the way counterclockwise and pull the trigger on the mig gun and the line will be clear with the last of the gas expelled. The needle will drop to zero. Just the opposite of what I showed in this video.

    Stupid question...What is the process of hooking up your gas line to the welder?

    • @AskWoodMan
      @AskWoodMan  9 лет назад +2

      ***** George no question is stupid when you are working carefully. The gas supply line from the regulator to welder mates to gas inlet connection on the back of the machine. This machine in this series has a clamp type connections at the regulator/machine. I am about to post a new series about building a cart for my new Miller MultiMatic 200 multi-process welder. It has brass threaded connectors at the regulator and machine for the gas supply lines. It uses two bottles. One for O2/argon for the MIG. And straight argon for the TIG steel/stainless and MIG aluminum. I learned by people helping me. I just want to return the favor. Also check out Jody at ruclips.net/user/weldingtipsandtricks Allan

    Or you could have stood on the other side of the regulator...

    why is my regulator, oxygen, going thru my bleeder valve? is the diaphragm bad?

    • @AskWoodMan
      @AskWoodMan  7 лет назад

      I would think you need to have the regulator serviced. As a matter of fact I just dropped off a regulator from my Miller 200 Multimatic (only 2 years old) at my local welding supply today. The needle was going crazy every time I pulled the trigger. My welding supply store sends it to Dallas where there is a service center. Last year I sent my 20 year old Victor oxygen and acetylene regulators in. They came back with the dials polished, painted, and working perfectly for about $50 for the two. Let the experts diagnose the problem. Regulator failure is nothing to risk.

    What kind of gas do we use for mig welder

    • @AskWoodMan
      @AskWoodMan  8 лет назад +3

      It depends. For steel MIG you use a CO2/Argon mix. For aluminum Mig it is argon. For stainless MIG a tri-gas mix of helium, argon and carbon dioxide is used.

      AskWoodMan can u illusttate how to connect tri mix gas in one regulator

    • @AskWoodMan
      @AskWoodMan  7 лет назад +1

      The mix is in the bottle. Connecting the tri gas bottle to the regulator is no different.
