Thank you for uploading this. I have been looking for a video clip of Trent Dimas winning the gold medal with commentary from John Tesh and Tim Daggett for years (for once Daggett was speechless). I did not have time to watch the '92 Olympics because I was in the process of moving and did not know he had won until I saw a short video on TV several years afterwards. What a moment for him--and one of the greatest in sports history, IMHO. He had all but given up on gymnastics (and they had done the same to him), when he made the comeback of his life to win the US's first gold medal in an uncontested Olympics. Way to go, Trent!
Trent is gorgeous so I don’t really understand you know how he did two releases in a row and sometimes they did three years ago and now I was saw the high bars in 2024 and they didn’t do anything to releases in a row ever ever hardly ever
What really made this even more amazing is how long Trent Dimas had to wait on the podium before he could start his routine. The focus that must be needed to navigate your head through something like that must be incredible. And this was a guy not experienced at all in the event finals at the biggest of competitions. He barely made the team! Hard to believe Paul Hamm is the only American male gymnast to have won a gold medal since then. We are overdue for another one!
@@dean7559 Yes. It was nice to see a US man win a medal in 1996. So close to being gold! Same with Leyva in 2016. And Horton in 2008 on high bar. We have come so close! Would love to see Mikulak pull it off this year! I hope the guy at least gets a medal.
And not to be a debby downer, but the 84 games was really the IOC 1984 American Cup; the gold medals won by the Americans there really don’t count (half the competition wasn’t even there)
@@2010hotmale2010 definitely. The 1984 games didn’t really mean anything without the Soviets and their allies. The competition was not really exciting even if China and Japan did a great job. As for women, Marylou Retton,, who had never competed in major competitions abroad, was turned into a media sensation for being the 1st American to win the AA… but if the games had not taken place in the US, even with the Soviet boycott, she would not have won the AA.
Please tell me you're not criticizing the reaction to him winning an Olympic gold medal. For crying out loud let the guy have his moment. The only way it would be exaggerated is if he ripped off all his clothes and skipped around the arena naked as a jaybird in celebration.
He actually trained for the 1996 Olympics but he didn't make it. So he didn't actually retire it's just the fact that he couldn't compete against the new people. He told everyone at the time no One believes that he could win and that he thought that he could win again in 1996. It didn't happen.
Iconic. First gold ever for the USA men’s gymnastics I believe!
It was awesome!! His couches reaction will always be one of my favorite olympic moments ever!! Shear joy. That's what the Olympics are all about.

Honestly i think Tim was overcome with emotion. This was such a nice surprise. We are so overdue for another USA men's Gold medalist.
The fact that Trent Dimas now works at my school is so astounding and cool!
omg, has he fanpage?
Inspiring Trent Dimas, who said we olive skin, brown AMERICANS are not patriotic, we love our country.
Trent Dinas gets his gold medal in Men's Horizontal Bar Final!
Sweet ! Thanks for the memories .

And it’s said because Paul Hamm’s gold is very tainted, so really the last American male to win a gold was in 1992
Crazy it’s been that long

a bit exagegerated reaction, but nice to see americans over russians. it's a pity he retred after this competition
