I'm glad they both got a lot out of their time together.
So, I'm eldest child and only boy in a family of four. Growing up in 70s, I watched women take a lot of strides forward over the years.
This is awesome. A young lady with guts and brains getting the mentorship of a pioneer in their field. Just awesome.
All the people who hate on female commentators are doing it for no reason other than she’s a woman. Pretty pathetic.

Listeners complain about male baseball announcers also, don't make it a gender issue. Some people like some announcers more than others. A lot of announcers are annoying whether they are male or female, the radio announcers for the Yankees, one male and one female are both sometimes annoying for different reasons, I listen for maybe an inning or so and then switch to the Mets game if they are on.
You guys are slow. Of course Joe Buck is the only man hated on for strictly being a woman but none of these commentators can get on Jim Brockmires level let’s be honest. And yes they are strictly hated on who they are. Never heard that one before? Lol pathetic

That's so cool baseball is my favorite sport and it's so awesome to see more females doing the job that use to be ran by males, even Vin Scully would be proud of her, So all those ones that send you the negative messages just ignore them and follow your dreams. Men have been coaches, officials and announcers in women's sports forever and this is considered normal and natural so it seems only natural and appropriate to go the other way. Change is hard. But it's happening as slowly announcers, officials, coaches and front office personnel are adding women. The key will be making sure that women don't demand the absence of men in their sports as they are welcomed into men's.

I've listened to Melanie's play-by-play and she does a better job than many of the male broadcasters do.

Still so sad to see that the default setting for so many people is to hate on those they will never meet and will never know. And to hate on those who are superior to them in every way. Sure, female voices take some getting used to but that's not because they are weak or bad. The challenge is going to be how to legitimately criticize a bad female announcer just as men are.
