- The Owner of this 1992 Foxbody Mustang GT convertible paid good money to have his fox restored to an above average level, but what he received was less than desirable... In this video we replace the stock intake manifold with a Trick Flow Track Heat, we instal a new thermostat, Felpro Gaskets, and also do a mini wire tuck in the engine bay.

I sealed the bowl of my ct70 carb with right stuff once. Funny you have one too. Right stuff never fails
I always use the rubber end links, I always do the normal rtv on each end of them and then a dab in the middle on top and bottom of it. Never once had a leak ever.
Good job on the intake install and wire tuck! That high tack sealant is so cool...I love using it...especially on thermostat housings. Awesome advice on taking pictures so that wires don't get crossed when reinstalling them... Attention to detail and not rushing is key to success! 👊🏾👊🏾
Thanks so much buddy!
I did a 351w swap, tubular k member, solid engine mounts because it kept tearing the rubbers, it's a never ending cycle 😂, I love it
Big Dogs Porting in Chicago does an excellent job on intakes
The name of the game is RESULTS.
Go Big dogs.
Tony ports for volume, not specifically for velocity. You'll have to decide if that's right for you and your application.
Thanks for the video and time spent making it! Looking forward to seeing the test drive with the new intake!
Thank you!
The only Honda I would own right there in front of the sandblaster 🙂
My last foxbody was a that same emerald over grey and loved it. Got totaled by hail. Now i have a white 92 gt
Thats my favourite two tone combo!
Nice hanging out with you in the shop. 😎🙌
Thx buddy1
Thanks for showing the wire tuck. That's gonna help alot . Doesn't look as hard as I thought.
Yessir! Super easy 👍
But wouldn't they be exposed to rain and water and dirt
Tom did my GT40 lower years ago.
Tony did Cobra GT40 upper and lower.
Toms son is now doing the porting and did a Systemax lower for me.
Here's my experience with them.
Tom ports for velocity and Tony ports for volume.
You'll have to do the research and see which one is the way you want to approach your build.
I made 570whp/540wtq on a tubular GT40 from Tom.
I haven't run Tony's manifold yet, it's been on a shelf since I sold the car it was intended for.
I'll by using the ported Systemax on a 363 Vortech build I'm in the midst of.
I can't definitely say which approach is best, but nearly every porter knows the importance of maintaining velocity.
That said, you can increase volume and velocity both.
Thanks for sharing buddy
I replace my upper and lower, valve covers, throttle body and maf all at the same time as doing a wire tuck as well! The more you dive in the more you find you want to change or fix 😂
LOL amen to that!
Great job on the wire tuck, always get ideas on how to reroute the some of the wire clusters. Nice push
on plug for the valve covers, I guess they took it to Stevie Wonders auto shop for these restorations.
Looks like a great choice on the two intakes.
Hahaha you could say that again! Thanks buddy 👊👊👊
As usual great video brother and thanks for the steel wool trick reminded me I still have some 👍
Thx buddy! Another trick is to use 0000 steel wool to clean bugs and/or water spots from your windows 😉
Great video!
Thank you!
Awesome work man
Thx sir!
Hell yeah. Love the videos
Thanks buddy!
U do great work sir..I sure could use your Mechanical skills down here in alabama..😂😂.... Great video sir
Thanks so much buddy!
For looks I like the cobra upper and lower.
Me too
Thanks!
Thank you!!!

Thank you
Gary !!!! Hello brother. Everything is looking good on your channel. The 7 up was kicking my A$$ again......so I always watch you and get some inspiration. Just wanted you to know that!!!!
Thank you so much sir! So glad I can help!!! Keep pushing 👊
@@KASLCustoms I'm going to highjack the wifes Facebook and hot you up. Im enjoying the retirement and the fox community is the best.
Rock on brother
I’ve been looking at a track heat recently. definitely better than a ported gt40 for me and I’ve got a set of old 351w heads off a 69 Mach 1 c90e
Those are virtually identical to the 3 bar heads except the spark plug and the rocker set up. 👍
Good Stuff as usual Bud! On another note, Our beards are going gray I thing at the same rate. LOL WTH! I can' t wait to see you correct all the screw ups on this vert and get to your KB.
Thx sir! lol, my buddy’s are starting to call me “two tone” 🤣🤣🤣. I’m super pumped to get onto the KB instal too 😁
@@KASLCustoms
Wait until they call you skin head... LOL 👍👍 And they're all bald too. 👍
Everything in the video would have me suspect that the previous owner probably had a nicer intake on the car but probably sold it and just put the stock intake on as a place holder. Hence the oversized throttle body and why they just plugged the breather port on the valve cover where a breather maybe wouldn’t fit with the stock intake and tall valve covers.
The motor only has 10 miles on it. It was built this way by another shop
25 yrs ago at the race shop I/we always drilled shallow 1/8" holes one inch apart on the china wall. It gives the seal something to grab onto so it wont squeeze out. Overkill? OCD ?
Interesting, I’ve never heard of anyone doing that
What's up the the swaybar end link having a rubber cushion bumper only on top. I thought the sway bar was meant to have a cushion on the top and botttom of the end loop.
lol you must have missed that in the previous videos, the previous shop didn’t even tighten them and the one fell right off 😞
Question for you Gary
When I post on my “community” is that just for subscriber’s???
hey buddy. I believe it's "Public" when you post there. That said, I believe RUclips controls who sees it based upon who is interacting with your channel
Why do have - or want to - change the valve covers? I like those Ford Racing valve covers. They are the exact version I want to get. Are you putting on a different version valve covers?
Yes I tried the trick flows to match the intake/heads etc however ran into clearance issues so went back to the ford racing ones
Gary, when you use the Fel Pro valve cover gaskets, do you use some type of silicone to seal them to the valve covers?🦊
No sir, I just clean both surfaces really well and torque to spec
I had problems with TMoss like you wouldn’t believe. I wish I’d used Big Dog. If I’d known you were doing one, I would have told you go to Big Dog. There’s a reason he’s backed up and TMoss is not.
This is a used intake so I didn’t hire him out, it was already done. That said he did port a Cobra intake for me and it was a very pleasant experience
@@KASLCustoms He has his son doing them now. Big problems with customer service. Now, I send people to Tony.
With out head and cam to go with that Intake you will actually lose a noticeable amount of lower end torque with that intake on a stock 302. You might pick up a few hp reving out, but you will definitely notice the loss of torque driving around on the street. I did it to one of my mustangs back in the day. Huge waste of money. The big restriction is the heads. The gt40 or cobra Intake is about the biggest you'd want to go on an otherwise stock 302.
I think edlebrock claims no loss?
If wanna make more power install an LS
Slicks, 4.10s, and 150 shot. Don’t waste your time lol
I expected this to be an _electric fan and underdrive pulleys_ installation video.
Save yourself a lot of time/effort/money by skipping the electric fan swap.
{ This is coming from two brothers with the combined experience of 40+ years ownership, of more than 12 Foxbody Mustangs. }
Personally think the convoluted stuff is cheap crap. It's all coming off my car and being replaced with woven.
Great video!
Thank you!
