Such a amazing island. The King's palace was modest and the church's majestic. Truly beautiful location.

this is where my ancestors was here name is Kalala Lupetaumata the princess of wallis that is my great-grandmother was force to leave wallis because she had married out side the royal family and the queen Seilala was not happy about it. her father Fugalei (the Fugalei island is also named after him) had ask his brother Tufelemanaia to ta ke his daughter to tonga for she can have a decent life and have children there, so he did. the cathedral was finished by my great great uncle Fr Hamale my great great grandmother Kalala brother.

Vic, It's a rare day when I am presented with something I know nothing about. Today is such a day; I never heard of Wallis or Fotuna, I suppose because they are reffered to as French Polynnesia. Well of the beaten path, hard to get to. For the most part, Visa Free. Nice place for adventuresome younger folk.. I am now faced with months and months of enriching my knowledge about these islands! The churches are magnificent and many are in an indigenous style. I would think they are expensive. Maybe $10 chickens. As always; nobody does it better than you.
Hi Jim, thank you for your wonderful comments. I spent a week in Wallis and it was an incredible experience...
My husband is also from Wallis Futuna Island ...we currently live in china one day we will go back there to live with family..by the way thank u for beautiful video,i have never been there interesting

I really want to go there Ireland to Wallis et Futuna will be a long trip
Very long trip indeed, with at least 2 stops on the way..
Thank you for showing this cathedral. I have learned through my family history that my great great uncle and his father built that church.
Interesting comments.. Thank you! 👍👍👍
who are they?
Hi
I lose internet service some of my comments don't make it but I love all off you're videos..dear Vic 😎
Hello, thank you for your comments!! 👍👍👍
I started checking out the island of' Wallis' when I was in high school for it bares the same name as my family.
Most likely you have French background.... Thank you for your comments!
The last church is the most beautiful - complex architecture and lots of curves. I like remote Pacific Islands; I spent times working in Kwajalein Atoll of the Republic of Marshall Islands. Are there any remains from WW II ?.
Yes. A lot in here (Uvea a.k.a Wallis)
Absolutely stunning Catholic churches. Plenty of attractive buttresses along the sides. It's interesting that the new community center seems to be roofed with thatch when they also have better roofing materials such as aluminum and what appears to be terracotta. it's understandable for a home, but not a large community center. It's really a shame they can't attract more tourists and bring in some type of companies so the younger generation can have jobs without having to leave home.
Hello, thank you for your comments!! 👍👍👍
Vic, how do you travel from island to island ?. With Tramp Freighters ?. 40 some years ago, one of the profs at school spent his summers on a tramp freighter in the western Pacific. He would fly to the Philippines and head east on a freighter. Would you do it Vic and take us along with your vblog ?. FYI: "Running Away to Sea" by George Featherling - he took around the world tramp freighter.
Is it very hard to travel there?
Yes... and very expensive too!!
I am from semarang indonesia. I enjoy your video. I do not know wallis and futuna. Your video make me know a little of wallis and futuna. Is there any regular flyight to go to the place?
You can fly to Wallis from Nadi in Fiji...
indonesia shall sent islamic missionaries there.
Amazing. How much was rental car?
There is no car rental in Wallis..
Perfect video👌 there is always something unique about each video you make Vic, just why I keep watching your channel. Keep on 👍

Hello, thank you for watching my videos!! 👍👍👍
Wow. I’ve always loved the Pacific Islands and always wanted to go there. I have to ask was it hard getting into Wallis and Futuna and were the local people friendly?
It was hard getting there (and very expensive), not the friendliest of the Pacific peoples however..
Oh. That’s too bad. Any favorite places in the South Pacific? I’m trying to save up for a vacation to the area next year
@@nathansummers8038 Try Samoa, the best place to visit!
@@VicStefanu People of Wallis and Futuna are not interested in tourism, and i understand them. They want to keep their culture. They are happy.
@@freewal Hello, thank you for your comments!! 👍👍👍
Is this a colony? I though it was only England who still keep invaded lands?
Hi, Wallis is part of France..
France, United States and Netherlands still have colonies, too. But they call them with other names like unincorporated region, associated free state, constituent land or oversea department because colony is politically incorrect
@@juliosalazar6924 and differents of what they are actually '-' ( execpt USA, because they never used the term colony)
@@juliosalazar6924 Actually Wallis and Futuna have their own king, their own gouvernement, and France don't take decision for them. This is not a colony.
@@freewal Kings in Wallis and Futuna have power in customary laws and are member by right of the Territory Council, where other 4 members are nominated by the Administrator of the Territory. So Wallis and Futuna are fully part of France but with integration of local customary laws. They have french citizenship and vote for the french president. French laws apply there.
NO VIRUS OVER HEERE
That's great, I wish I would be there right now.. so many more places to videotape..
I like Vermont better.
You mean the state of Vermont in the USA?
@@VicStefanu Yes! It is absolutely hauntingly beautiful-the ONLY state in which the TOTALITY of it is placed under the aegis of The National Register of Historic Places. Other states have places or areas so designated, but only Vermont-The Green Mountain State is ENTIRELY so designated and with obvious reason when you go-and you MUST!!!
@@kilowagmagnusson4590 I have been to Vermont many times, I attended the University of Manchester in New Hampshire a few years ago...
