@@youtubeillegallydeletesacc1525 Well, it may not be exactly the same thing humans do, because it doesn't come with all the same social and emotional baggage, but they do have a grin, it happens mostly in a subtle pulling pack and relaxing of the facial muscles, and they do a version of it when they are relaxed but alert, and they do another version when they are happy and focused on their person, it means they are looking for a cue from their person that is an expression of love or attention, like a pet, or a treat, or even just talking in a nice way. It may not be a deliberate action on their part that means something specific like a smile, but the facial muscles involved are similar, and the meaning is equivalent, something like a "happy expectation."

Dogs actually can smile, when my dogs play with each other they frequently curl up their lips like that and it’s clear that they’re happy. They definitely have a dog equivalent to smiling.
I’ve taken many pictures of dogs where they looked like they were smiling, with their mouth slightly open and lips curled upwards. Most of the time, the dogs were actually very happy.
I love dogs.

My old dog (who sadly passed a few years ago) was also deaf. He would do exactly what the dog in this video did. Occasionally, like 1 in every 10 “barks” he would actually make noise and it would scare the crap out of us bc we weren’t expecting it lol. RIP Bob

My dog went deaf in her old age. She compensated by barking as loud as physically possible all the time.

More likely this is a scumbag owner that had it's dog's vocal chords cut as a puppy, and has been telling this lie to cover for their scumbaggery for the dog's entire life...

Dogs cant physically smile because they are happy, they look like they “smile” because it’s the way their face faces are structured. So when a dog is happy or sad or whatever, its face will look like its smiling when its panting

Plus, dogs have had social media since forever! All those 'hotspot' posts & trees where they check for messages, some need a reply, some don't. I've decided that when my dogs sniff, pee and then scrape their feet - that's their all caps response.

I think it’s because mouthing/miming something doesn’t look the same as actually saying it so for the dog the vibe works best if you’re actually speaking. There’s facial expressions and gestures that usually only works with actual spoken words.

So true, my neighbor has two deaf dogs. The first deaf dog that has an extremely loud bark. The first time meeting him, I didn't know if he was aggressive when he was wagging his tail and barking crazy loud. Then she explained and it made more sense. Yet, her other deaf dog was silent and rarely made a peep.
I can watch this for hours on end, the dog makes my heart melt and I just love how the owner talks to her, so super sweet 😍 Thank you for uploading ❤️

It's interesting to notice that he doesn't move his ears when the woman talks to him. Usually dogs keep their ears pointing to whatever makes any sound around them. Just a little detail....
I was going to say that also, but maybe at other times this dog moves her ears because she had seen other dogs moving them too, but maybe dogs don't care about trying to listen (move their ears) while they are barking, I am not an expert about dogs.
.... Or, like the video title says, he's deaf. Dogs move their ears like their eyes, to focus on a noise. If he can't hear a noise, how would he know where to aim his ears?

Lip reading lol jk. But for real deaf animals are keen at reading body language
They can feel the vibration of sounds & some can lip read
if deaf people can hear through vibrations then dogs too.

I met a pup who did this but it wasn’t because he couldn’t hear, he was a massive great Dane so naturally he was loud, instead of teaching him not to bark they taught him to “whisper”
I managed to teach our cat to meow quietly through wait/repeat processes at feeding time. It's adorable. But he's only quiet when he wants food - if he's just being a dick, he's still as loud as anything.

@ Cats are super quiet from my pov; every dog I've had was ultra loud. My current little friend has a damn high pitched 100 db loud ass bark.
My dog knows how to whisper!!!! She does “silent howls” when she wants something, because she hasn’t figured out how to get our attention without otherwise barking, and she doesn’t want to bark in our faces. She will throw her head back and make an O with her mouth, but make no sound. We eventually taught her how to whisper. She does it for treats now. I say whisper, and she throws her head back, and makes a quiet “auaghuaghuagh” sound. 😂💀
