During Luigi's quest to save his brother from the evil King Boo, Luigi have gathered enough courage and saved Mario... But King Boo had another trick in his sleeve. As the two brothers were distracted, King Boo captured Luigi and trapped him inside a painting forever. Due to being trapped within a painting himself, his energy and strength all but ebbed away, leaving him powerless and too weak and stop the overwhelming power of the ganged up boos. They threw him out of the mansion and locked the front gates. Leaving Mario in such a weakened state forever. Now with strength forever drained.. Mario can do nothing more but weep and mourn for his younger brother...
This is sadder than the original, he always saved everyone, the one he couldn’t save was the one he cared for the most, and now, he lost the ability to even save anyone ever again

Idea for lore: in the events of yoshis island Mario’ and yoshi fail to save his little brother, years later when confronting bowser, he is reminded of his failure and shows Mario what happened to Luigi and shows him that kamel trapped him in a painting. This forever saddens Mario even after defeating bowser
