Something I learned about myself today - I’m a moderator! By the two words, moderator and abstainer, I wouldn’t be able to tell you what I am. I am GOOD at abstaining….but mostly for things I’ve never done before. But I’m very natural at moderating. I’ve always always been able to stretch out what I have from point a to point b, and maybe even have extra at the end. And you can really see the blow-back of trying to be an abstainer in my wax journey: it was as soon as I said I wanted to use up the candles I had, before buying more, that my candle purchasing exploded. Same with Scentsy bars. Soooo that makes more sense now. I do better, like you, with small attainable goals or points where I can say yes: wait til candle day and then buy 4-6! Rather than just “no” indefinitely. Side note: my husband is an abstainer so that’s a fun journey. I’m loving your joyful year coming up!!
]That makes complete sense. It's like a want to rebel if I don't give myself some flexibility. Yes, an abstainer and a moderator makes for a fun journey! Thanks for watching and sharing!
I went nose blind with the blend I melted and then I took a shower and I could smell it again. It's so pretty. I want more and then I remind myself to take it easy. I have plenty of wax.
I did low buys in the past and I just have so much wax and I think of all the things I could have gotten with that money or how much I could have saved. I’m finally at no buy wax for 2025. I need nothing and I really want my numbers to go down. I am allowing myself to buy a little something different, not wax related to award myself here and they’re to celebrate my no buy wax. I think after years, of buying, and wasting wax or the wax isn’t as strong as it was, it’s time and I finally do not feel fomo. That’s big for me. I will enjoy my stash that I have and try new things too, if that makes sense.
Back in November when we finally started to get cooler in SoCal I started going for walks in the mornings! The crisp cool walk has been soooo lovely! Last year I lost 8 pounds and I’d love to lose another 8 this year and everyone I talk to says walking is a key component to that. Then I incorporate my yoga and cardio/weight workouts and I’m hoping for further success. Here’s to our health in 2025!!!
I want to be you. It rained yesterday so I did not go on a walk, instead I did a workout at home - I have to keep the momentum going by moving every day. I love this time a year because I so much prefer walking outside when the whether is cool and crisp. Cheers to that - a very healthy 2025!
Staying away from the triggers is hard! I decided low is the way to go . I am glad that you are finding the joy in your life! And to be keeping it simple🥰 You Can do it!!🥰
I don't feel as tempted as I used to. I had to ask myself a few days ago, what is more important brining your numbers down, or getting wax you can get later? The answer was easy. I am getting more satisfaction in using what I have then getting more. Not to say that I will not buy some wax, but it will be very intentional and small. Thanks for the encouragement Melissa! 🫶🏻
I’ve never done a no buy. I’m always on a low buy and that’s how I keep my collection under control. I have to really really want the scents offered and even then I stick to small sizes. A new to me vendor I discovered in 2024 was second and spruce however don’t know if or when I’ll order again because even though I love her wax, I don’t love my orders being weeks and weeks over tat. So I’ll see in 2025 what I do.
We have chatted a bit about this in the past and you are so good at it! I need to be more like you. With Second & Spruce she never had a preorder that big so I see that as a bit of growing pains and learning what is doable. She has never been this behind in the past. I think she said she would make changes so it doesn't happen again. Her wax is great though. I'm melting a blend of hers from last year and I can smell it coming down the stairs from the guestroom
So many areas of what you are talking about are sooooo relatable! I enjoy learning how others manage life impulsive challenges. There is inspiration and lessons within the entire conversation. Thank you for being a “sharer”, of what works for you. ☺️🙏🏼
A Q I have re today’s vender purchase choice …. which goal is of more value to you today? Which has more pull and why? Which is the goal you want the focus on? 1) the satisfaction feels of reducing your wax number, by not adding wax? or 2) receiving the additional wax & experience of this particular vender’s scents? Both 1 & 2 can be accomplished at a later date, which one do you want to accomplish now, which do you want to accomplish later? Absolutely no right or wrong, more of which goal precedes the other, which you prefer to feel and check off today? (That’s how my brain processes that scenario.)
Now I wanna pick your brain, lol. How and when did you learn to plan? Truly, at what stage in life do you feel you learned the beginning of those skills? I feel like I completely missed that boat, and had no examples in my life, implementing plans in a way that I could learn from and utilize. Probably way too deep for a RUclips comment.
I think I am also a moderator. When I do strict no buys it really gets my mood down and I end up binge buying I am trying to find that balance between having fun trying new things, but also spending less and bringing down my stash. It's been a challenge. This year I am planning a low buy year with a limited monthly wax budget to keep me in check. I will stick mainly to Scentsy because I just recently started purchasing from them and there is less pressure with their catalogue items. If I do vendor wax it will be small. Hoping I can get my stash down to 500 or less by the end of the year!
I love your plan and goal. Whenever I get the itch to buy, I go and organize and look through all I have. Most of the time that works for me, but the pull to buy can be very strong.
I think im more like you being a moderator now. Sometimes im like oh i dont need anymore but i also just keep myself at a low buy instead of trying to do a no buy that works better for me.
Same, who knows my low buy can turn into a no buy for a period of time but if I say I'm on a no buy, I already start to feel like rebelling against it.😂
I loved everything about this. I feel I can relate to you in so many ways. I want to start using my newer wax, I also do journals and planners & I want to strive to work in them more…at least every week if it’s even one day a week or every other week. I have a lot of BBW lotions I need to use up starting today:) you gave me so much inspiration watching this. Sending big hugs to you! 🥰
I've learned that trying to do too much can also set me up to fail, especially with planners and journals. This is where my second word "simplify" comes in. If I keep it simple the barriers for entry will not be as great. Same with BBW lotions, focus on one or two and this way I see bigger progress which motivates me to keep using it. Thank you for the lovely comment.🥰
No way I’m counting my wax no way but it feels so good to get through one more bag I still have scents from teddy bees from 2020 that still performs I’m trying to use those up in the upcoming two weeks.
Hey Martha! Your new thought process for your melting basket is what I currently do 😅 I want to enjoy the new and the old! I do think I might make some of my baskets more vendor specific in the next few months because I want to use up some wax from vendors I don’t plan to repurchase from at all or as frequently. I’ve already freed up space in 1 drawer which feels amazing 😊 I would say my new vendor that I discovered in 2024 is iHeartwax
I think before I was so intent on using my oldest wax and a few days ago the lightbulb went off - I don't want all my wax to be old when I use it. I've considered during more vendor specific but when I shop my stash I want to warm it all!🤣 I think next month I need to go a bit heavier on Knowles. I actually added my last hall to my basket this month. Why wait until February when I can do it now. I have seen you talk about iHeartwax...maybe next year!
Oh my goodness you inspire me!! A 365 photo challenge…. I love that!! I have a bullet journal but have yet to do anything with it…. I should keep track in that! Plus I love your word for the year!! ❤I wasn’t going to steal it lol but golly I loved it! 🥰
Thank you Melissa. I'm glad my word resonated with you. Taking a photo a day is something I have enjoyed doing in the past. It was a great way to notice the little things in life and I want to get back into that type of thing. The other day I found my traveler's notebook journals where I documented the entire year of 2020. It was so fun to look back at what life was like.
Martha, great job getting thru your wax stash. 🎉 I think I am in the middle. I am able to take a break and enjoy what I have, but I do want to enjoy some new scents. Second and Spruce and The Candle Nurse were too new vendors for me for 2024.
I will definitely be purchasing new scents but right now I'm enjoying using what I have. That being said I did just purchase a bunch of Scentsy BBMB but I was good for not buying all 25 in December. I selected the ones that I think I'd enjoy. I love Second & Spruce - I am getting low on both S&S and The Candle Nurse - I want more from this vendor for sure. Thanks for watching!
This was a great video! I love your goals and I am very jealous of your numbers LOL I like that idea of writing a letter to yourself! If I find time I may do that as well 💜💜
I always enjoy everyone's talking videos. Second and Spruce was my 2024 new & top vendor. I don't have a word of the year. I tried adopting yours last year, but it ended up being just a word without action. Perhaps this year will be different. 😁
I'm glad you like these videos because I like ones where I can just chat and share. As for words of the year, it needs to resonate with you. Some come fast and stick and some I mull over for a while. The way that I get action is constantly reminding myself of it and sometimes even journaling about it. What did I do this week to find Balance or Joy. Already I've been playing more music, taking a photo a day like I used to, and just keep saying "more joy" Maybe this year you will find the word that resonates with you the most. Happy New Year!
Even though I think I'm trying to use more wax I once again seem to hover around 150 bars used up per year. I did way less scentsy purchases in 2024 but I did maybe close to a 1/2 dozen vendor wax purchases. Oops. Love Gretchen Rubin! I am an abstainer for the simple reason I can very easily not control myself and be a total glutton on "junk food". My continued journey is weight loss. In 2018 I got very serious about it and lost close to 80 pounds by 2020. Went from 2X to a medium. Well, I gained about 1/2 that back. I've lost about 12 pounds since the summer which is a snail's pace but at least I haven't gained which I'll claim as a success! Hoping to lose 20 pounds this year so I'm closer to my "normal" weight again. I like to do batch cooking and freeze a lot of things as my emergency meals in the future when I have no energy whatsoever to cook. My suggestion is don't try crazy new recipes you've never done before just your favorites to begin with! I have made quite a few soups where I was very disappointed and had a 6qt crock pot's worth! I am planning a limit on book purchases also because I did the math of my ebooks/audiobooks from 2024 and WOW - eye opening!! Considering I only read about 35 books last year and most of them weren't even ones bought within that year I need to scale back! I have almost 30 audiobook credits(LibroFM - they don't expire like Audible does) so if I want something new I'm going to force myself to use those before a new purchase. Of course will use my local library as well. Good luck! And happy new year!!
It's so inspiring to hear how you're tackling your goals and staying positive - I'm with you on the batch cooking! I want to do more of that. I did it a few years back and it worked. Congratulations on losing 80 lbs. It's a journey and you have the mindset to get there again. As far as books go, I do use my library a lot, but as I was putting my reading journal together, I also had an eye-opening experience of how many books I have and haven't read yet. Reading from my shelves will be another goal of mine this year. Thanks for sharing your journey - you have inspired me!
Great video and your numbers were great! I don’t need any vendor wax at the moment, and I did good not over purchasing them. The last preorders (several vendors) I purchased was in July and 1 preorder in August. I’m very content with the wax I have. I would like to try more That Smell Good Shop. Well, what can I say about Scandalous Cosmetics!!! They are amazing and will be repurchasing. I loved that she introduced discovery sets and my intent was to use them for travel for the size. So glad I saw your haul! Have a great 2025 Martha!!! 😊
It is so great to feel content with your collection! It feels good to be intentional when buying. I always feel like I was able to get something and don't feel like I'm missing out when I place a small and intentional order. I'm so glad you tried Scandalous Cosmetics! I love everything I have ordered and she takes such care in packaging it all up. I have a video of my last haul coming later this month. This will be my last haul for a while because I'm trying to be good but the Black Friday sale got me - twice!😁
@ that’s what it’s about….enjoying it! This should be my last order for a while with Stacey, I need to see how much I use up before I try other scents……maybe lol 😉 Can’t wait to check out your upcoming haul!
Love all of this. My word for 2025 is peace. I have a planner and really want to start using it more. I rely a lot on alexa and my google calendar, but i think pen and paper would be better. I need a push. When I first start anything new, I tend to get overwhelmed. Do you have a planner video? I'd love to watch it if you do. Thank you for a year filled with fabulous content. Happy New Year!!
Peace is a beautiful word. The world needs it as well. As for planners I shared what I plan to use as my planner last week. It's not a traditional planner video but I do flip through my new planner and then talk about starting a reading journal. Maybe after a month or so I can do a flip through. Happy New Year!
Oh that is disheartening to realize wax is no longer good. I'm 6 days in and doing well. I did allow myself to get Scentsy's BBMB on the 1st. It's an improvement over last year where I would have bought the whole kit. This time I was very intentional in buying the ones I think I would enjoy the most.
I just did a huge planner destash i feel out of love with planning planners stickers and washi it felt amazing but at the same time it made me sad. I had like 4/5 bags worth of planner supplies. I’m debating if I want to attend gowild in Indianapolis in May. I’m torn!
I have so much scrapbook and stamps that I know I will have to give a bunch away and that will make me sad. I need to clean out the garage and I have an old Cricut machine, stamps and albums I don't use. It will make me happy to get space back but also sad - I totally understand. I had to look up Go Wild. That looks like it would be fun. Why not go? If your heart want to go you should go.
Hope you wrote that letter to yourself, Martha! Should start out with Dear self, remember to take no shit and may the haters, Richards and Karen’s with their drama, find themselves playing in a hurricane. H-o-tt-o-g-o 🍻🫶🏻
No way I’m counting my wax no way but it feels so good to get through one more bag I still have scents from teddy bees from 2020 that still performs I’m trying to use those up in the upcoming two weeks.
It can be overwhelming. Lucky for me I started tracking what I bought from the very beginning so I always had a sense. What I changed was adding it to my spreadsheet when I purchased it instead of when it arrived. That was the game changer for me. I know that feeling of getting through a bag or a scoop. I barely melt scoops and I got through one tonight! That was a great feeling.
Right now I'm a no buy for as long as I can. Use up as much ascai can, and hope I don't do a binge buy to make up for the "time/wax lost
I know you can do it! Just stay away from the triggers as much as you can.

Great check-in, Martha! Beep, beep … toot that horn 🎺🎺 because you did a fabulous job! You’re a rockstar 🎸 🤘🏻🫶🏻
Thanks so much! I really appreciate it. Happy to be rocking out with you all!
2024 was my first year with vendor and I fell in love and obsessed with Melting Memories wax.
I do need to try Veronica's wax. I have heard great things.
I’ve never done a no buy. I’m always on a low buy and that’s how I keep my collection under control. I have to really really want the scents offered and even then I stick to small sizes. I haven't written it yet. I've been too busy but I better soon before I forget what 2024 was like 😂
Love all your stats. I'm trying to order in moderation as well. Good luck to you, and here's to 2025!!
Thanks Maggie. it's been a journey but I'm glad to be making progress! Baby steps.
Same for me, Candle Nurse

I like to do batch cooking and freeze a lot of things as my emergency meals in the future when I have no energy whatsoever to cook. My suggestion is don't try crazy new recipes you've never done before just your favorites to begin with! I have made quite a few soups where I was very disappointed and had a 6qt crock pot's worth!

You can do it - you are doing it already. We can help each other out.
Good idea incorporating nee wax with old wax! I will start doing that too!
I just added my last Knowles Farm Scents order in my basket last night. I'm starting this strategy this month. Screw waiting until February!
Those headphones are nice!!
I love them. Very useful purchase for me

@Martha_FragranceCorner Empire Wok helped me choose 😂😂 Inner peace is found within; it's a treasure worth seeking
@ love this! Thanks for sharing it. Words and quotes come from all places! 😊
I NEED those headphones
I need to put them on today!😁
Low buy for January in all things. Low/No buy for wax in general this year. I ruined a bunch of wax in storage and I just can't with myself this year.
@Martha_FragranceCorner I'm going to listen to some bbmb warm sniffs & maybe stick some in my club for later.
Why not go? If your heart want to go you should go.
skipping is ok. You know why? She will have an RTS and you can reassess the situation that time 😁😁
You are exactly right. I'm also more motivated by having less than bringing in more at the moment.
Hope you wrote that letter to yourself, Martha! Should start out with Dear self, remember to take no shit and may the haters, Richards and Karen’s with their drama, find themselves playing in a hurricane. H-o-tt-o-g-o 🍻🫶🏻
You're the best!
