I've had the little 1AAA Olight ie3 eos on my keychain for over a year now and couldn't be happier with it. Twist on and no fuss with about 100 lumens. Good run time and no hiccups so far.
For the flashlight: check out the Ultratac K18. It can run either AAA or 14500s. On the 14500 the high has around 360 lumens. Side switch with electronic lockout. It's what I run on my keychain and it sound like just what you're looking for.
love the key chain flashlight, I use the streamlight key chain light and I ran the batteries dry one time too activating it in pocket...not much out there right now for that option I agree
Very cool. I also keep a tiny Ferro rod in the corner of my wallet, which also can attach to a keychain. It seems hard to find a proper EDC flashlight.
For my extra Shield mag, I've been carrying a horizontal kydex one from Hollis Holsters. I've had it for about 2 years now and wear it every day on my weak side. Works perfectly and you can adjust tension like any other kydex holster.
I don't see the need for two full size folders. Surely for every day use the squirt is enough of a backup as a just in case. I've never needed a second blade of any type, let alone a full size backup.
The only reason I carry a "spare" is if I am going somewhere that I might need to lend it to others. For example, when I was in the Navy I carried 3 or 4 blades just to hand out during working parties where we were painting to cut stencils and open paint cans etc. Because no one else had the sense to bring any.
Damn, I'm in love with the Cutjack, D2 steel, bronze washers, nice blade shape. Can't ask for anything more than that, unless a RAT 2 comes in D2. Great stuff as always Aaron, learned a lot.
Already pre-ordered the 3" Cutjack and the slightly larger 3.5" version both in M390 so I have one for carry at work, and one for weekends. Can't wait for them to start shipping! Thanks for the great videos, extremely informative.
I justed ordered the CYA holster last night. I've been looking at this for awhile and decided to pull the trigger on. Great video on your on body EDC. Keep up the great videos.
The wallet I have is of the exact same design but in dark brown finished leather though mine is made under the Hammer Anvil brand. I like the design as it is minimalistic.
Will be picking up that CutJack. I have a few griptilians in 154cm and 2 in D2 steel and I actually prefer the D2 steel over the 154cm on my griptilians, also love my RAT1 in D2 so the CutJack will be nice for my collection and EDC.
gideonstactical. Sweet. Looking forward to it. Enjoy your videos and how your always honest about everything you review. Picked up the byrd raven 2 awhile back off your recommendation and I really liked it. One of my favorite gear reviewers right here. Keep it up man.
great vid. i recommend lumintop tool ti version. tail switch operation and pretty solid ti body construction. and i also recommend to use the backup mag as the primary mag, and the primary one as the backup. then you don't have to worry about struggling for mag change.
Great stuff Aaron. In my experience with twisty lights, they all seem to have their annoying quirks. I think they're fine for keychain lights though. Mine is the small olight one. Also, I really love the blade shape of steel will knives. Have been waiting for their new models to come out. They had some with colored aluminum (I think) scales at shot show that looked cool too along with the cutjacks.
Hey Gideon, you can fix the magazine seating issue real quick. Remove the base plate, and sand down the top a bit. I like to use 400g sand paper, lay it flat on a table, push the top of the base plate onto the sand paper and sand away! I had the exact issue with my extended mag for my Kahr cw9 and this worked perfectly.
The Cutjack kinda reminds me of the RAT1. I love my Steel Will and may wanna look into that one as well. Thanks for the hard work dude. I love watching your videos.
Thanks. Appreciate the details. Big kuhl fan... two of those hats three pair of their pants and light weight jacket Their pants designs and unique! stretch crotch panels and actual leg geometry might be something others check out IF significant mobility / hyper leg extensions etc. is part of your active wear, extreme vertical hikes etc.
Just caught your video. A solid presentation. I would like to suggest a couple of considerations. First, you can upgrade the standard Smith mags by either one or two additional rounds using a Magguts Spring System. 7- Round becomes 8 or 9. The 8 round becomes 9 or 10. In addition you can possibly replace that belt clip with an Ulticlip which is steel. Stick some Velcro on it and you're good to go with that belt you showed us. The clip fits under the belt on the pants and the Velcro will prevent the belt from abrading. It will be a much flatter "lay" all around. Finally, I have a CTC Green Laser sight on my 9 Shield. but you'll have to change the holster for that one. I also use a pocket Remora holster for my shield with the CTC sight. It is actually a revolver holster for the Smith Model 36. So you'll have a 9 round 9mm in you pocket with a Green Laser sight.
slap a ranger band over a nitecore tip. it will make it nearly waterproof, protect the buttons from damage, and minimize accidental activation. i have one and it works well.
The "Tip" is the bigger one, right? I've found the "tube" to be much smaller, but more practical. I swear by the ability to mount it right on your watchband with those 1" Tactical Tailor Retaining Bands.
fanof runbot, I have used the tube, but the plastic housing broke while on my keychain. I now use the TIP and have put heatshrink (non glue) tube around it, covering and protecting the buttons and usb connector. It also prevents aluminum residu on my leatherman squirt which is right next to the TIP on my keychain.
Maybe the keychain mount is the problem - constantly hitting other metal. Until they come up with a viable, affordable wrist watch light, I'll have to go with the tube and the Tactical Tailor band mount. Its pretty safe while on my wrist underside, no problems yet. I like that my Luminox watch also has a 45 lumen light.
Try Snag Mag for your extra Shield magazine. I have four of them. They ride in the opposite side pocket with a clip. Looks likes a folding knife. I really like mine, they fast to deploy the magazine.
The purpose for that push function toward the head of the flashlight is for a tactical momentary on function without having to use two hands. It’s more for a tactical use but if law enforcement is going to sweep a dark area, you don’t want to have a light on constant. It gives away position. It allows you to active the light one handed with a cigarette type of grip, pulling the sides of the light between your index and middle finger toward your thumb. Activates for quick scan then release and move. Then activate again a few moments later in new direction and off for move again. Not very practical for civilian use, except can be handy for one hand use.
How come you don't send that Leatherman back in for warranty? I love their warranty program, it's a quick turn around too. I sent my Blast in for repair and got it in a week and a half..... Really excited about that Cutjack knife. Looks great.
For a small EDC flashlight you really can't beat a DQG tiny for keychain or a zebralight for a little bigger model. Olight S1R is also a good choice. I have the budget version called the OTR M3.
Have you checked out the Olight S1 Baton? Very small light with a ton of output for its size. Usually I like to carry something a little bigger because I feel like a light too small is a little awkward to use but it has a lanyard hole so you could put it on a keychain if you wanted
I would go with the Manix 2 Lightweight in S110V if you want an upgrade from the CTS BD1. I have one and for about $10 more than the Knifecenter exclusive in CTS XHP it's definitely worth it. It's a little harder to sharpen but it holds an edge for a very long time with general use.
I carry the same shield with same holster. Only complaint is the sights poke my stomach when I sit. Gotta find a different holster with a higher sweat guard
Pretty much the same as mine, although I add an alox SAK and a Bullet Pen, plus random other things. But yeah, squirt and keychain with light and pen makes me good to go, if need be.
The Nitecore TIP CRI had a 30 second on, then auto turns off saving battery if accident turned on. They also have headlamps (NU20) with same stats as the TIP AND same price $30 for cool white, $35 for CRI. Designed for runners, hikers.
Good video. For an unobtrusive mag carrier try the Safariland Horizontal Concealment Magazine Holster T0021. Amazon has them, of course. Been using one for years for my Sig 225 mags, no complaints.
If you want to try a good keychain light, I've heard great things about the mecarmy sgn3 or sgn7. Difference is price and lumen output I can't justify the cost right now on them but I've heard they are wicked pieces of gear
I had heard those mag holders were a bit sketchy. Try this for free- go to a bike store and ask if they have any mountain bike inner tubes I. The trash, cut 5 inches off and try that, very grippy, but releases mag when you pull it out.. Cut up the remainder for friends or to make ranger bands
try the Blueforce gear 10 speed belt mag pouches. I've been using one for more than a year now and it's been great. It's similar to that readyman deal but much better.
Why don't you just upgrade to the Casio Pro Trek, it has a built in compass? Suggest putting the NiteCore Tube on your watch band, attached by 1" Tactical Tailor Retaining Bands.
Thanks Aaron very helpful video you always take budget aspects into consideration which is helpful. I'm not fond of the flashlight, tell me have you considered the Thrunite Ti3 for your keyring it's not USB comparable but it is small and sturdy and gives off a strong and long lasting light. I like the new knife and will purchase one as soon as they become available. Keep up the great work and all the best to you and your family.
CYA is a great holster, but make sure it is fully clipped or it can pop out of your waste band. And that can be awkward... ask me how I know. (and get a real belt. hanks are great.)
Hey Aaron, I recommend the olight i3e eos for your keychain flashlight. It's a twist head but it locks into place. All of the i3e eos models have one setting and are 90 lumens except for the silver one which is 120 lumens which is the one I have. It's $13.99 on Amazon right now and there are some good size comparison pictures there, its very small. I've had mine for about 10 months and it's still going strong. You should check it out on Amazon and see if you're interested. For anyone else that is interested in a good, reliable light, my regular EDC light is a fenix pd35 960 lumens and I love it. It's had the crap beaten out of it and it works flawlessly plus fenix's customer service is great. I can't recommend these 2 flashlights enough. Check out the reviews on them at Amazon. You won't be disappointed.
This is the first time I've watched any of your edc videos. I really like your system and setup. You really should review the CutJack when you get the chance. It's one beautiful blade. What's your thoughts on carrying a key chain light vs a pen light. Keep rocking on bro, I love your style.
I jus have a recycled firefighter wallet,a olight s1 baton, a leatherman oht, also I usually have my Benchmade mini grip, but recently been carrying my crkt Pilar since it's cheaper if I lose it
Great videos! Have you thought about the Caly 3.5 for a more dress pants friendly EDC blade? I can't recommend it enough. Also, Foursevens makes insanely high value flashlights. I've carried a foursevens light daily for close to 10 years.
Looks like the Cutjack did right on back of knife where the CRKT amicus did wrong. Looks like a sweet knife. Will be looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the Cutjack
gideonstactical I saw a line Steel Will introduced at Shot Show similar to the CutJack but with a different blade shape. I'm eager to see those when they come out, as well as the new locking mechanism they've developed. Steel Will is a company to watch. I was already considering the Darkangel, but your review was what really sold it for me, so I bought that one awhile back and it exceeded my expectations. That belt is svelte. It seems like it would be a pain to get on and off and adjust.
I've been carrying a Micro Photon light on my keys for years man..tiny, weighs nothing, bombproof, waterproof, readily available batteries, and made in the USA. Plus they're less than $10..Give one a shot
Hey, I was looking for a hiking capable knife that I could still edc. Should I go for the CutJack or go for something like the Ontario Rat or Cold Steel Finn Wolf?
The Shield is a compact gun...shoots like a full size...carry a gun everyday...pick the right gun for the situation and sometimes the right choice is a 380 ACP...carry when you can legally carry 100% of the time...I Carry everything from a XDM 4.5 9mm, Shield 9mm, LCP and a tiny 25 ACP...the right gun for the right situation...don't carry the 25 ACP anymore LCP is just as light
Great video bro.… I carry the shield as well but in 40 S&W. Might go to Carrie method for a spare magazine has been black dog concealment's mag carrier.… I've been caring it on my belt 7/ 8 o'clock area lies very flat Give it a look I think it was around 30 bucks but I swear by it even with the simple untucked T-shirt extremely concealable has good retention plus retention screw to adjust
Nice EDC. I feel the exact opposite about the watch. I cant wear anything around my neck, wrists or fingers. It dives me nuts. Also I pride myself not living my life "by the clock."
Justin Cox thanks for the info!
I have that Travelambo wallet...the best slim wallet I've ever used. I really love it.
cdismufasa agreed!
I feel a lot better that some else is enjoying my lost light weight manix 2
Finn Green that is sad
love the key chain flashlight, I use the streamlight key chain light and I ran the batteries dry one time too activating it in pocket...not much out there right now for that option I agree
Very cool. I also keep a tiny Ferro rod in the corner of my wallet, which also can attach to a keychain. It seems hard to find a proper EDC flashlight.
check out Olight S1 Baton :)

Capt. T thanks for the heads up
gideonstactical You're welcome. Thanks for all the awesome EDC reviews that you do.
for flashlights I picked up a Olight S1R and I love it!
I don't see the need for two full size folders. Surely for every day use the squirt is enough of a backup as a just in case. I've never needed a second blade of any type, let alone a full size backup.
grouch314 we live in the age of materialism and consumerism.
grouch314 could not agree more most people dont use their knives in the first place let alone the other 3 they carry
The only reason I carry a "spare" is if I am going somewhere that I might need to lend it to others. For example, when I was in the Navy I carried 3 or 4 blades just to hand out during working parties where we were painting to cut stencils and open paint cans etc. Because no one else had the sense to bring any.
I don't think he was advocating carrying two full size folders, I think he was showing that you're have a less expensive option to the manix 2
Thanks for the great videos, extremely informative.
the pierce grip is whats hanging up the lock up on the mag swap. the flush mags slap in just fine.
Thank you for your Honesty regarding the Nitecore Tip, I was going to buy it this weekend.
Great EDC. You should try the Ultratac K18. A 10440 Light with Buttons and 360 Lumens and in the regular flashighlight shape.
Will be picking up that CutJack. I have a few griptilians in 154cm and 2 in D2 steel and I actually prefer the D2 steel over the 154cm on my griptilians, also love my RAT1 in D2 so the CutJack will be nice for my collection and EDC.
Jmuk35 yeah and I like the cut Jack over the rat one for several different reasons you'll see in the upcoming video.
gideonstactical. Sweet. Looking forward to it. Enjoy your videos and how your always honest about everything you review. Picked up the byrd raven 2 awhile back off your recommendation and I really liked it. One of my favorite gear reviewers right here. Keep it up man.
wish the cutjack was available for the rest of us. No one seems to know when it is coming out. I cant wait to get my hands on one.
great vid. i recommend lumintop tool ti version. tail switch operation and pretty solid ti body construction. and i also recommend to use the backup mag as the primary mag, and the primary one as the backup. then you don't have to worry about struggling for mag change.

Wow the camera quality is really going up..
Упсарин Ц thanks my friend
Your lack of tactical flashlight disturbs me, but still, great EDC.
If you like that light you should try the Mecarmy illumineX-4. Great little light without the quirks that yours has.
Thanks.
Appreciate the details.
Big kuhl fan...
two of those hats

OK, That Cutjack has my attention for sure.
As far as flashlights I now carry the AAA Maglite. I'm able to carry it in my back pocket with no issues. It's around 120 lumens I believe.
For a small EDC flashlight you really can't beat a DQG tiny for keychain or a zebralight for a little bigger model. Olight S1R is also a good choice. I have the budget version called the OTR M3.
Have you tried a streamlight microstream yet? Amazing light!
My only surprise was that you don't have a more robust flashlight in person. Something with longer run time, more power, or perhaps a tactical style.
Aaron was this filmed in Feb or was that a faux pas (Mistake) regardless great PT.1 tuning into Pt. 2
I carry the same gun, the 511 leather belt is awesome for any gun carry.
Have you checked out the Olight S1 Baton? Very small light with a ton of output for its size. Usually I like to carry something a little bigger because I feel like a light too small is a little awkward to use but it has a lanyard hole so you could put it on a keychain if you wanted

I've got the same wallet and it's by far the best one I've had. cool to see you rocking it!!
I carry the same shield with same holster. Only complaint is the sights poke my stomach when I sit. Gotta find a different holster with a higher sweat guard
Pretty much the same as mine, although I add an alox SAK and a Bullet Pen, plus random other things. But yeah, squirt and keychain with light and pen makes me good to go, if need be.
take a look at blue force gear(?) double mag pouch. those are pretty awesome for concealed carry
The Nitecore TIP CRI had a 30 second on, then auto turns off saving battery if accident turned on.
They also have headlamps (NU20) with same stats as the TIP AND same price $30 for cool white, $35 for CRI. Designed for runners, hikers.

Good PRAGMATIC system! But that Steel Will Folder? MINE! Now let's move on to Part Two!
If you want to try a good keychain light, I've heard great things about the mecarmy sgn3 or sgn7. Difference is price and lumen output I can't justify the cost right now on them but I've heard they are wicked pieces of gear
.............same for me with NiteCore - mine lasted about 4 months Thanks for sharing :)
Try the HYVE Technologies +2 base plates for the shield they work great!!
try the Blueforce gear 10 speed belt mag pouches. I've been using one for more than a year now and it's been great. It's similar to that readyman deal but much better.
I really like the look of that watch. Will have to pick one up when I get payed.
Very nice belt, but the big drawback is the ability to use it to fasten gear, splint, etc. in an emergency.
Keep up the great videos. Long time fan.
Matt Klapman thanks my friend!
CYA is a great holster, but make sure it is fully clipped or it can pop out of your waste band. And that can be awkward... ask me how I know. (and get a real belt. hanks are great.)
Can you please do a review on Urban Carry!!!
Check Dale Fricke holsters for horizontal low profile kydex mag carrier. That spare mag not seating is a huge no-no to me.
Check out the streamlight microstream. Under $20, uses one AAA battery, push button tail switch, and removable pocket clip. Awesome little light.
Great review! I'd recommend the Nitecore MH12GT for a primary light!
Have you tried the Neomag for your extra mag? really cool minimalist mag carrier
Lumin Top AAA tool is a great edc flashlight
Great video. What camera are you using now?
Banditgriot all the videos for the last six months have been shot with the go pro hero four 1080/30fps
This is the first time I've watched any of your edc videos. I really like your system and setup. You really should review the CutJack when you get the chance. It's one beautiful blade.
What's your thoughts on carrying a key chain light vs a pen light. Keep rocking on bro, I love your style.
I jus have a recycled firefighter wallet,a olight s1 baton, a leatherman oht, also I usually have my Benchmade mini grip, but recently been carrying my crkt Pilar since it's cheaper if I lose it
Just send the squirt in. They will replace it or refurbish it for the cost of shipping. Its a Leatherman! I carry the Wave and have already done this.
basically a magnetic little holder with a pocket clip and it goes in your pocket like a pocket knife
Great videos! Have you thought about the Caly 3.5 for a more dress pants friendly EDC blade? I can't recommend it enough.
Also, Foursevens makes insanely high value flashlights. I've carried a foursevens light daily for close to 10 years.
for the flashlight get the preon p1
Zachary Cottrell thanks!
What do you think of the "Energizer LED Keychain Light" for your EDC light?
Dump the button compass and buy a suunto x lander or core watch they have a compass in the watch.
Like the Steel Will knife.
What do you do for a living?
You probably have to stick the pinky extension into the ratsmedical pouch also for it to stay put
Looks like the Cutjack did right on back of knife where the CRKT amicus did wrong. Looks like a sweet knife. Will be looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the Cutjack
Michael Nussbaum yeah super awesome review coming soon
gideonstactical I saw a line Steel Will introduced at Shot Show similar to the CutJack but with a different blade shape. I'm eager to see those when they come out, as well as the new locking mechanism they've developed. Steel Will is a company to watch.
What was the green flipper knife in picture?
I enjoy these kind of videos from you. I enjoy a lot of your videos, actually. Lol.on to part 2. Keep up the great work. God bless
Love your videos man. Keep on going.
You should try out the new nitecore tip 2017 model is much better
Hey, I was looking for a hiking capable knife that I could still edc. Should I go for the CutJack or go for something like the Ontario Rat or Cold Steel Finn Wolf?
Where was the "on body" portion?
why don't u edc a real flashlight? that things a backup.
Super informative vid as well! Dig your drop down links!
To let you know that you send that to Leatherman and have them do a up date some times free of charge .I have sent mine and it repair at times
Have you tried a NeoMag holder I've been using one for 3 years now
Great video. Get a Surefire Sidekick and most of your lamination needs will be met. Approximately $72. Worth the money.
The Shield is a compact gun...shoots like a full size...carry a gun everyday...pick the right gun for the situation and sometimes the right choice is a 380 ACP...carry when you can legally carry 100% of the time...I Carry everything from a XDM 4.5 9mm, Shield 9mm, LCP and a tiny 25 ACP...the right gun for the right situation...don't carry the 25 ACP anymore LCP is just as light
the shield's grip is longer then the Glock 19 and half the ammo compacity so why would you carry it?
Great video bro.… I carry the shield as well but in 40 S&W. Might go to Carrie method for a spare magazine has been black dog concealment's mag carrier.… I've been caring it on my belt 7/ 8 o'clock area lies very flat
Give it a look I think it was around 30 bucks but I swear by it even with the simple untucked T-shirt extremely concealable has good retention plus retention screw to adjust
i got my Leatherman Squirt on ebay for $15, i definitely recommend it
is your g shock battery operated solar atomic? there is a solar operated 5600 g shock. which is yours...
Nice EDC. I feel the exact opposite about the watch. I cant wear anything around my neck, wrists or fingers. It dives me nuts. Also I pride myself not living my life "by the clock."
Okay but what about the shades?
The neo mag is the best mag holster check it out in my vids or don't either way I recommend it big time!!
Good gear and update!
siempre me pregunto dónde estás estas personas cuando hay grandes tiroteos? porqué no usan sus armas ?
