D-day landings (June 6th, 1944)

Operation Overlord was the Allied's plan to land their troops back into Western Europe after the fall of France back in 1940. The first phase of the plan was to launch an amphibious invasion on the coast of Normandy, France. The date when this invasion would occur was called 'D-day'.
